Ordered my normal size, turns out I lost weight during the lockdown. Called 99bikes support and they immediately suggested I head down to a store and exchange it. No dramas, too easy. Now on the shorts, as usual - Fox shorts are lightweight, made from sweat wicking material and it comes with a chamois. It doesn't come with the waistband adjustable thingies so make sure you get the sizing right. Straight forward shorts, just 2 pockets no fancy bits no extra hidden pockets no sunnies wipers. All good.

I just use the lycra cycle shorts without the outer shorts. In summer on long cycles- i can cycle for 3 hours without a break- the outer shorts don’t breathe and you can get really sweaty. The lycra inner shorts by themselves though are brilliant and offer the right amount of padding and are very durable. I do frequent, long cycles and only 2 of the 6 pairs that I bought 3 years ago have some issues with the stitching of the chamois to the lycra, but they get a lot of use.I came to using the Fox shorts after trying cycle others that i bought on Amazon. These tended to be over-padded and in respect to padding of cycle shorts “more” isn’t necessarily “better”. Give their durability, the price is quite reasonable

I ordered the small for a waist size of 30 and they fit great--which is fortunate because there is no adjustment or elastic of any kind if they had not fit exactly. There are not even belt loops to use if they are a little big. The other reason I settled on these instead of other shorts was for the shorter inseam. At 5ft 4 inches, the 14 inch inseam which many other shorts have goes way below the knee and looks dorky. The material seems very durable and comfortable, and the quality is also good. Overall I am satisfied, but would have given 5 stars if there had been some kind of waist size adjustment.

Nice shorts. I like the 2 piece design which makes these very versatile and gives more wear options. The padded insert feels a little bulky at first, but fine when actually on the bike. Would buy again.
The Fox shorts and shammy is nice, but they don't stand up to the wear and tear. I've been using them for 3 months and the inner short is starting to fall apart since the stitching is coming out. I also don't like how the bottom of the shorts will slide up my leg. A pair from another brand I had incorporated a sort of rubber that would grip my skin and prevent the bottoms of the leg from sliding up. I've been using my walmart pair for years and they are still standing strong. The Fox pair don't feel like they are made from an as high grade of material as they should be. I'm honestly very disappointed.
The length was right. The quality of the fabric is great, but the belt system didn’t work for me. I had to send 2 pair back that I really wanted to make work. I wear a 36 waist in everything in order to get some extra room through the quads, but I’m actually a 35”. There is no way to get that extra tightening at the waist with this sliding “belt” system. A simple Velcro set up would solve that problem. Also, there is no zipper or Velcro in the fly. It’s just folded over fabric, which would probably be ok normally, but I think it might sinch up the waistline a bit and alleviate some of the issues with the lack of a functioning belt for guys like me.
I had a chance to wear these shorts last weekend when it was almost 100 degree outside. They were comfy for 15 miles ride with the liner on. The material is thick and seems durable enough, and it would be a great shorts in a cooler temperature. I would prefer wearing something more breathable like Fox Flexair for a summer ride. I normally wear 32, but I got 34 because I wanted to wear them with the liner. They don't feel too big for me, but it would be a perfect size if there was a waist belt. The pockets are deep enough, but I wouldn't put phone or wallet in for a rough ride.

At the sale price of 50$ I think this is a 5 star item, at its regular price of 85$ it's maybe. 3 star item. I averaged it out to a 4. For a sale price of 50 $ I got a quality polyamide / elastane built shorts with an above average chamois. This iteration of the ranger shorts has a much better cinch belt compared to the previous generation. The material seems to be a bit more wrinkle-prone compared to the previous generation, it's probably because of the material change. In the previous edition the shell was polyamide nylon / polyester / elastane, whereas this edition is polyamide nylon / elastane. Overall it's comfortable, stretchy, breathable, and durable. Like many items in the MTB world, Fox is overcharging at 85$. If you find this retailing for 50$ or less, ... MoreAt the sale price of 50$ I think this is a 5 star item, at its regular price of 85$ it's maybe. 3 star item. I averaged it out to a 4. My old pair of Ranger shorts are perfect! Two front pockets plus a zip pocket and leg pocket plus the magic! a built in simple belt adjustment.New pair has no additional pockets and no longer has the same belt and have to rely on a single press stud. Why the change !!!
