I bought these in black, size medium. I am 5'8", 140 lbs, 29" waist, 39" hips, 22" thighs.I received these shorts really fast. One of the selling features was that they came with a chamois liner. I was happy with the feel of the fabric. It is quite light and the shell appears fairly well made. The first thing I did not like was the liner is attached by two narrow ribbons that have a graphic of scissors and words indicating to cut. I did not want to cut this until I had tried them on. I found it awkward trying to squeeze my way into the liner and shorts at the same time. I would have preferred to be able to pull on the liner shorts first and then the outer shorts. I did not want to cut the ribbons or this would surely have voided any return options.Once on, the liner shorts fit quite well. The waist on the outer shorts gapped hugely while the hips fit well. This is a constant issue for me as I have a curvy figure. I have Fox defender pants in medium and they fit well. The shorts do have an adjustable waist.... I wish the cinching method would have been visible on the photographs like they are for most other brands. The description calls it a goggle type strap. I call it an inefficient pain in butt to adjust. There's is a slider buckle on each side that fall to the back of each side of the waist and pretty much out of view. I found this really awkward to try to adjust... it just didn't work for me. I ended up taking the shorts off and shortening the straps to make the waist smaller. What this did was make an unsightly bunching of material at the back of my waist and also made it extremely difficult to wrangle my way back into the shorts... again because of the sewn in tabs that have to be cut later, and the fact I have larger hips .The shorts really seem nice, but they just don't work for my figure so they are going back. I docked stars for the cheesy adjusting straps and the inconvenient ribbons that attach to the liner.

I've been using these shorts for about a month, finally bought knee pads and they are slightly too short for knee pads. If you're standing up straight, sure they cover the knee pad but once riding these shorts will ride up a bit. For reference, I'm pretty slender usually between 120-125 and 5'7''. I haven't used the liner yet because I've got some nice chammies but tried them on and they fit quite tight - had trouble getting them over my butt. There is a pocket for cell phone on left leg and fits my iPhone xs with a thin case but it might be a squeeze if you have a larger case on your phone.Overall though, they LOOK great they just need to be about 1-2 inches longer and that pocket needs to be a little larger.

I found no movement restrictive, never caught onto anything. However, I have an iPhone 11max pro with a Defender-otter box case that did not fit in the pocket. Which didn’t bother me much when I opted to slide it half way in the backside of my waste line…problem solved?!!!:)Love the black, especially because my bike is so bright, but I would definitely like to see more options for women soon!!!Notice the smile on my face and the fact that I am standing on top of my toilet, I was so excited about how well my new purchase fit.Recommended, for sure!!

Sizing is mismatched
14 November 2020

I ordered a medium originally, and the liner fit perfectly but the shorts were ridiculously baggy. Wouldn't even stay up, despite the "integrated belt" - way too big. I ordered the small and the shorts fit perfectly, but the liner was insanely tight and uncomfortable - I wish I could have kept the liner from the medium and the shorts from the small. I returned them both.

Sizing...
26 August 2022

I ordered a medium because I was worried the liner would be too tight otherwise and I saw at least one review about that specifically. The medium liner fits me really well, and then the short is huge. And the waist adjustment is a joke. First of all, there isn't much room to tighten them AND they don't stay tight anyways. Fox needs to re-do that design because that just sucks. I am going to return the mediums and try the smalls and hopefully the shorts AND liner fit well. I'll report back.

Terrible Design
23 July 2022

These shorts pop open every single time I ride uphill. There is a single snap holding them on with no belt loops or hook to keep the clasp closed. Everytime I reach a difficult ascent in a climb I end up popping these shorts open and it drives me absolutely insane. Do not buy these.

The best MTB shorts
4 December 2021

The best mountain biking shorts! I love these shorts! The fabric is so soft and stretchy. They fit great, I'm 5'3", 140 and the medium is perfect. I like the vertical front pockets which keep you phone secure even without zips and the zipper pocket works great for keys. I even like the chamois that come with them, softer and stretchier than any other I've had.

Update review
20 September 2022

Originally, I bought size medium in these shorts. The liner fit great, but the shorts were way too big. And tightening them was not ideal. It just doesn't work great. So, I returned the mediums and got size small instead. The small liner was snug at first but fit pretty good once I got it on, and the shorts fit really well. They are comfortable while riding, and seem to stay put and I don't have to mess with the shorts or the liner mid- ride. They are also breathable. The zipper pocket is not big enough for a phone, but is good for car keys. Overall, these are good shorts but I do think they could be improved: a bigger pocket and a better way to tighten them if needed.

Weird sizing
25 June 2021

I ordered both a medium and small. The medium pants were HUGE and the smalls were so tight they couldn't even get above my thighs. Plus, the liners are useless because the sizing is so off. The liner in the medium pants was so small I couldn't even fit one leg it in (remember, the medium pants were way too big). The liner is the small pants were teeny tiny-didn't match up to the size of the pants. Had to return both sizes.

Women's Fox Racing Ranger Short in Matt Blue
14 April 2023

I quite like these shorts. The length is appropriate for the size, they don't bunch up anywhere, I appreciate that they aren't a traditional "girl" color, they wash well and spots/stains don't need to be pretreated.
