The Fractal Design Refine Fabric Chair in black is a solid pick if you want comfort and style without any fuss. It looks great and fits in with pretty much any setup. The fabric is soft but supportive, so itās comfy even if youāre sitting for a while. You can easily adjust the armrests and recline the back to get just the right position.Plus, the delivery was super quick and right on schedule. Assembling the chair was a breezeāeverything was clear and the tools were all included. Overall, itās a great chair that looks good and works well.

I purchased this chair the week it was released. I'd been waiting for a product like this for a long time, and had always been disappointed by cheaper chairs, and unwilling to spend $1300+ on a nicer chair. This feels even higher quality than my SteelCase Amia at half the cost (although I got mine used from a business that had closed much cheaper than that) and its soooo much more comfortable. The fabric looks great and is quite soft. The headrest is perfect for when I'm too tired to support myself with perfect posture (I sit for 12+ hours most days) The lumbar support works great with my back. The comfort when reclining is FANTASTIC. Arrived today, took about 15-20 mins to put together. On first impression, it's such a beautiful and elegant chair. Well packaged with lots of foam protection. You can literally build this in 5 easy steps with the included Allen keys and a total of 8 screws (they provide 2 extra).Build Quality: This thing is HEAVY. Like ungodly heavy. I thought my Herman Miller Mirra was heavy but this is on another level and it just goes to show you the quality and strength of the materials used. Paintwork is excellent and doesn't easily scratch off. All the levers and buttons feel premium and sturdy, there is no rattle, squeaks, wobbles or creaks. I could fall asleep in it. It has a tall back which contours well to your natural spinal curvature. The head pillow is memory foam and contours to the nape of my neck well with adequate support and pressure. It's adjustable so you can position it just right for you.Lumbar support is fantastic, adjustable height and depth means you can support your lower back with pressure that feels right for you and it's easy to reach whilst you're sitting in the chair.All the controls are easy to reach and adjust with nothing being in an awkward place.Armrests are surprisingly comfortable and soft with plenty of adjustability. They're not excessively long either and these are the first armrests that allow my elbows to be 90 degrees to my desk. So well done @FractalDesign šThe base is comfortable. I know a lot of people had concerns about the base depth being too "small" but I find it adequate. I'm an average build, male, 35 yo, 80kg, 5ft 9in or 175cm tall banana. I had to adjust the depth slightly forward to make it closer to my knees. The internets suggests you leave a 3 finger gap between your knees and the front base of your chair which this chair is capable of achieving comfortably. If you have hips like Nicki Minaj this might be a challenge and you should rethink decisions about that BBL.Things I don't like: There really isn't much. Only thing I can think of is that it doesn't have a "swing" mechanism which allows chairs like the HM Mirra to have a 15 degree tilt without locking the chair in place. if you remove the pillow, the two plastic holes feel a tad uncomfortable but WHY would you, the pillow is so comfy!! It's not the worst thing and shouldn't stop you from buying this chair. Other than that I really can't fault it.Conclusion: All jokes aside. This is a fantastic chair. In the UK it costs Ā£479 which isn't cheap by any means! HOWEVER you are getting an extremely premium product, well built and durable. Tons of ergonomic adjustments. Super comfortable for long hours and at half the price of the mainstream brands like HM. Fractal market this as a gaming chair but it doesn't really look like one and that's a good thing. The design is elegant so you can put it in an office environment.TLDR: Get the chair, it's good. Don't be cheap and invest in your health so you can be a healthy banana like me. The seat is very comfortable, but the back seat is to big, my lower back hurts when I sit in it, and it started to make creaking sounds after one week of light use.
I typically prefer firm surfaces, but this was painful to sit on for any length of time due to how hard it was (my battered office chair purchased from Staples in 2002 is somehow a more pleasant experience.) The seat didn't slide forward quite far enough for my liking despite the chair's numerous adjustment options. The back of the chair feels very flat, and the lumbar support doesn't do much to alleviate this. After sitting for less than 20 minutes, my back gets unbearably hot due to how insulative the fabric back is. Unfortunately, the combination of above issues make it impossible to sit comfortably.

The seat, the head rest, the arms, the tilt tension, the back position can be locked, you can even make it so that the wheels don't spin unless your full weight is in the chair.I got the Dark Fabric color because I was tired of mesh and it's so comfortable. I can sit at my desk for hours now and my back doesn't hurt at all! The lumbar is super adjustable too. You can change both the height of it, but also the intensity of the lumbar, like how much it pushes into the back of the chair.Even the wheels on this chair are amazing. They roll SO smoothly. The frame the wheels are on is also some kind of metal. All the materials on this chair are way nicer than expected.I'll try to remember to update this review after using it for a few months/a year but right now I'm incredibly happy with this purchase! I can't recommend this chair enough if you're looking for something affordable that will keep you comfortable and sitting in a good position.
