I was looking for that one lens to rely on to pair with my xpro3 and after copious amounts of reading and viewing review videos, I went for it and I absolutely love it.The build quality is top of the class with nothing flimsy or finicky, just pure solid build with clean pro look.Autofocus is actually really impressive, though some reviews may say otherwise, I have no issues with it.The wide open 1.0 aperture is dreamy and crisp at the same time and the bokeh is just sooooo creamy, it's a little ridiculous.I think I might shoot more shots wide open than I would with other lenses, because it's just got that great balance of clarity and dreamy backgrounds.Even with auto adjusting iso, I can shoot with iso 200 @ 1/500 in a dimly lit room and still get a bright ... After having 90mm f2 35mm f2 10-24mm and 16-55mm from fuji and a lot of sony sigma lenses for sony e mount, I am extremely disappointed with this lens.Ugly glare, for some reason never sharp after 15-20meters distance, heavy, long with lens hood, slow af which demands the subject to stay still, mediocre sharpness...I sold it and bought Laowa argus 33mm f0.95, way sharper, better in everyway, character, sharpness, usability etc. Only possible donwside is flare which I find it very characteristic...I dont recommend this fuji at all, and I recommend all the others listed above...

This lens feels special the second you pick it up. Even looking through the EVF it seems "richer" than most lenses. The only minor drawback is the slight lack of sharpness at f/1.0, but from f/1.1 or above it's probably the sharpest lens I've ever used in 40 years of taking pictures. The backgrounds melt away. It's expensive, but it really is a great lens.

With an incredible aperture of F1.0, the Fujifilm XF 50mm F1.0 R WR lens allows you to capture subjects in near pitch black situations.The first night after I got this lens, I walked around my backyard with only a full moon to light my way. I was able to capture photos of flowers, handheld, at ISO 800, F 1.0, and the shutter speed was 1/8.With the assistance of the IBIS in my X-T4, I was able to capture clear photos which would have been otherwise impossible in similar conditions.Getting an ND or Variable ND filter of some kind is a great idea, even with the electronic shutter active, you will still over-expose images at F1.0 in bright daylight (even with base ISO of 160).I picked up a 6-9 stop VND from Moment, beautifully made filter with a nice look (no ... After almost 2 years with this lens, It has it's ups and downs. When it nails focus, it is an amazing lens. I find it be more for still subject lens like portraits and landscape ( awesome in low light). The lens only struggles with moving subjects. It can not track nor continues track. It's a mild improvement on the XH2s, not on the X-T4.. Unless I have a bad copy this lens simply can not properly track walking subjects. This lens is only for none moving single still subjects. Just have to work around it's flaws.
If you are looking for the perfect lens to use at dark environments with vibrant ambiance (a flash would ruin), then this is it. It renders so beautifully. I love the pictures that come out of this things. THe focusing is not crazy fast but ti's not slow and most importantly it's confident. For the types of pictures I take this has easily taken top spot. Plus the focal length is so great I love having more room for indoor settings than the 56 f/1.2 will allow. It's expensive and the 56 1.2 will be a better choice for some people with its size,focal length, and price, but for me this is definitely worth it, easily.

I sold the first after picking up a 56 f1.2 lens for commercial work, but realized I missed the compact size and beautiful, contrasty rendering of the 50 f2 so I purchased again for use on an X-Pro2 body. Both copies I've used are very sharp across the frame from wide open (bitingly sharp in the center), and hit peak sharpness around f4. Images are very punchy with no perceptible chromatic aberration, and vignetting and distortion are very well controlled. The aperture ring is tight with strong clicks, like the other f2 Fujicrons, and the wide manual focus ring is extremely smooth and a pleasure to use for fine-tuning focus. Even though the manual focusing it is important, I have to agree that the AF is more than usable at f1.0 and many other prime lenses in this category are manual focus only, so basically the image quality is very, very good and the usability is good. Finally, I have seen a little bit of chromatic aberrations in the form of a slight purple color present in the highlights, but I think that in order to avoid that completely the lens would be way more expensive than what it is now. If this lens cost $200 less, then it would have a perfect value for money ratio.
