Introducing the Casio G-Lide GBX-100-1ER the latest addition to the G-LIDE lineup of G-SHOCK sports watches, which are a favorite choice among the world's top surfers. This new model comes with the ability to display information required by surfers (high tide and low tide times and levels), and to use a phone application for simple selection of one of approximately 3,300 locations around the globe. The wide face and a high-definition MIP (Memory In Pixel) LCD improves display readability of standard functions like Tide Graph, Moon Data, high tide and low tide times, and sunrise and sunset times. This provides important information about current conditions at a glance, which, in combination with a collection of training measurement functions (distance, speed, pace, lap, pitch), provides plenty of support for surfers who meet new challenges around the globe. In addition to powerful functions, this new model also incorporates advances in design, structure, and materials. The bezels are made of resin and metal to allow them to withstand the impact of underwater rocks better. The surface of the bezel has a stainless steel cover with a hairline and honed finish that creates a look of elegant toughness. A resin guard structure that protects against impact from any direction combines with a button guard at 6 o'clock, which delivers outstanding G-SHOCK protection. The end of the soft urethane band at 6 o'clock has slits to allow the draining of water and sweat for improved comfort.

Best negative display yet!

This watch not only has the best negative display I have ever seen but the hours and minutes are really big, very easy to see in poor light. Love the sun rise sun set times and moon age. Personally I don't need the fitness or tide functions, But wish you could advance the sun rise/set dates forward like you can on the Casio SGW-500H. Also the Day of the week needs to be on the top line next to the month and date, and there is no option to change the order to the European Date/Month format. The G-Shock Move app is not as good as the G-Shock Connected app and has reconnect problems. So to sum up - I like the watch but room for improvement.

The Bluetooth connection provided you with a greater insight into all your activities as well as adjusting settings such as alarms, and sound. Moreover, if you don’t want notifications on your watch, this can simply be turned off- which I prefer as I specifically wanted a watch just for the active side of life. That’s being said I am yet to have a day without it!Overall, this watch is a fantastic addition to those who want to stay active and can track their activities. 9/10 for me and a great value for money!I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND

This watch is fantastic, great features. It's sort of like a new modern version of the 5600. It has much bigger ridged buttons though more like the GW7900. The MIP screen is fantastic and viewable from almost any angle. It has tide and moon phase features which I love along with sunrise and sunset information. It's comfortable on the wrist as it has a super flexible strap. It also has basic smart watch features, it will tell you all your notifications coming in from the device it's connected too. The problem is the Casio move app it uses to set all this up only allows on or off. You can't customise which notifications you want. For this reason I don't use them. Having everything coming in will wipe out the battery in no time. It's a shame they couldn't implement ... MoreThis watch is fantastic, great features. More so a great featured G-Shock than a smart watch. The watch came in a couple of days. Shipping was perfect.

GBX-100-1ER Bluetooth enabled G-Shock
25 May 2023

Just received my new Bluetooth enabled G-Shock GBX-100-1ER. So far, I am loving the phone notifications with the vibrate function enabled. The main time display screen is very easy to read in any light, despite having a negative LED display. The resolution is good but the actual messages still require a bit of squinting to see. The watch itself looks awesome, like a G-Shock on steroids. Very comfortable and easy to use. The accompanying Move App seems to work well too. My only criticism would be that the training functions and the tide features are quite complicated and slightly confusing to set up. Other than that, if you’re looking for a Smart(ish) watch with the usual rugged attributes of a G-Shock, this will fit the bill perfectly. :)

Good but not perfect

The MIP display is really really good and it's a shame G-Shock haven't produced more of these. I assume based on the price they aren't that expensive to produce and I would love to have one that you can invert on demand. So here are the good and the bad of the watch IMO:Good:1. Display is great, love MIP and want to see more - sad the new 2023 Mudman isn't MIP I would have probably bought both display versions if they were and solar too.2. Band is very comfortable and soft albeit catch is a bit plasticy and would be nice if metal3. Overall look - probably marmite - but I really like it, very space age and technical looking - would be nice to customise it but there is a distinct lack of colour options (yellow strap would be cool)4. Bluetooth has pretty much all ... MoreThe MIP display is really really good and it's a shame G-Shock haven't produced more of these. Bluetooth has pretty much all the functions you need but see the bad...5. Button - pretty good and responsive enough and a good size to not have to fiddle to action6. Displays you can toggle are great. I can easily toggle between the sunrise/set and moon and the standard time which are the main functionality I use here along with occasional tide levels which again easy to toggle with a couple of presses.7. Vibration alarm is great really nice function and would be good as a standard as I miss this on other watches.Bad:1. The watch does have a lot of functionality and some which I would like to turn off but can't for all. I never use activity tracking (and is annoying when you accidentally start it) or notifications (albeit I can turn these off). There is also a lot of life log stuff which I don't quite get or use and would be nice to just set it up with the stuff I want (Gravitymaster does this well).2. Bluetooth I don't quite get the move app is not as good as the other apps (even the discontinued one) and does take a bit of getting used to. I only really want to use the bluetooth app to update time and or any tide data etc but it seems to be almost always connected which for a non solar watch isn't great but also I don't seem to be able to do any GPS stuff. I really like the option on the other watches I have where you can press a button and it connects to the app but also logs the GPS coords - why would that be missing? I can add the watch to the main app but it offers no functionality that I can see just a link to move app. Personally I would like to ditch the move app for the other app so all my watches are in one place - G-Shock please offer the option?3. Battery - it says 2 years which is fine for this sort of watch but we will see.4. Auto light - so it has it but it times out and you have to then start it up again and holding down the light button doesn't do that which is really annoying. I really don't care if this decreases the battery life unless my battery level is so low - this really should be an option in that app (Auto-light on, on for 24 hours, off) but it isn't.5. MIP - so one issue with this is refresh - stopwatch doesn't have 100s of seconds. Albeit even if the display can't show it the watch could calculate and display after you stop, lap etc so no excuse there.6. Solar - if MIP is low power use, a solar version must be close? G-Shock?7. Step tracking not sure it is as reliable as my Gravitymaster - still testing but the activity display are very small and difficult to read unlike Gravitymaster so doesn't make this very useful unless you use the app.8. Light - so it's bright and works but its 2 LED lights it looks really cheap on watches now and I wish we could go back to EL light it looks better and was so much more uniform lighting of the display. Or make it so it isn't obvious that there are 2 bulb lighting up the display. It isn't as bad as some where you can actually see the bulbs and they aren't covered up which I have on a couple like that.Overall it is a very good watch which I will use a lot but with a few tweaks it could be great!

Great watch for anything
1 July 2022

I've had this watch for about a year now. and it's great! the screen is easy to read in bright light as well as cloudy conditions. the buttons are easy to press with wet or dry hands. it has the typical g-shock toughness, ive banged it up pretty bad bw, bike wrecks and working in a warehouse with only a small scratch on the bezel. it works for work, sport, casual outings, and i even wore mine in my brother in laws wedding! the app is great and user intuitive, and compared to my polar watch the step counter appears to be spot on. the strap is comfortable.2 small improvements, this watch should be solar. I wish I didn't have to replace batteries on this( I haven't had to yet) and I think that to get to the notifications window it should take less than 5 button presses.

I love this watch

I could not disagree more with the other reviewer. This watch is super lightweight and very comfortable with the new band that allows for a lot of adjustment. Its fair to say that this is kind of a dumb smart watch. It allows for basic notifications, stop counting, and the app displays redundant information to the Apple health app. So I agree its not that useful other than that you can synchronize with the watch if you are walking around without your phone. The display on this is absolutely phenomenal. And even on the smaller font screens You can read the text pretty good and I have bad eyes. This is especially true in the bright sun. I also like that its big enough to look like a G shock, but small enough to even work for a small rest. Ive had to watch for about a week right now and have been wearing it constantly for the entire week. I also love at the time date etc. automatically calibrate once you connected your Bluetooth your telephone. It made setting a breeze. I cant comment about the buttons being different than other G-Shock models. This could be absolutely a legitimate feedback as this is my first true shock watch. But what Im going to say is I think for around an MSRP of US$150, looking at the other models, I think this is a very solid offering. I only wish they would bring the blue color to the USA.

Nice but not perfect

A few points worth noting which are not stated in a few online reviews. If you’re primarily attracted to this watch because of the tides, you should know it only closely aligns to official tide tables. In Sydney the difference of the tide tables and the watch is up to about 10min difference. So it’s only for approx reference. Secondly, when in tide mode, the text is very small. If you wear glasses, you will struggle to read the tiny text. On the positive, I took it overseas and used the world time mode. When linked to the Bluetooth phone app, the watch seemlessly updated the time as my phone automatically changed to the time zone. It also light on the wrist if doing sporting activities. Lastly, Watch Direct was easy to deal with.

Terrible Bluetooth and app connectivity

I require and like the watch for the large time display, it can be viewed from any angle no matter the weather that's brilliant... I don't think I can rate the watch highly due to the continual blue tooth disconnection and therefore lack of consistency in receiving notifications... That's a massive minus as is not being able to see further details of any message the way you would benefit from... Another real challenge in gshocks which this model never improved is the ease of being able to scroll menu with the light on rather than every press switching it off. I'm not too fussed it isn't solar as the battery is common and cheap enough. The watch is more heavier on my wrist than expected.. I bought this to replace my still as new GWB5600BC1BER....I think this watch display for time is about best thing, I think that when doing the display you should be able to opt for the same big digits, it's good knowing the tide and moon but it's a headache getting the app to stay connected.. I'm not even sure gshock cares there's so much mass production in these ranges it's sad that gshock are distancing themselves from customer stress and only focusing upon what made them famous which is the watch being able to handle stress like someone throwing it when their annoyed its never working with the tech.. Anyway moving on, I like the big buttons... I think a six second light display should be an option rather than 3 being max
