A little sad

I've had these same sticks for a while (5 or so years) and they've been fine. When they work they work, but the second pair I got as an upgrade were broken out of the box. It sucks because I didn't have time/energy to install them untill a few months after I bought them, so now the return window is up. Thought it mightve been a driver/windows update issue since windows did an update as I was shutting down to plug these in. After going through a lot of troubleshooting I finally tried a windows memory check and the memory check froze. Unplugged new ram and it was back to working. Just to be 100% sure it was the new sticks and not the sockets or something I unplugged the working ram, put in the new ones and it bsoded on startup.

Couldn't be happier, using it with a 6600K and ASUS Z170-P

Here's how I fixed it: Updated to the beta BIOS from December 2016 (probably not necessary...considering what happened in the next step) Apparently "bricked" the mobo Panic for 30 minutes before taking RAM sticks out one by one With both RAM sticks out, computer beeps...means BIOS is still intact...I think? Switch RAM sticks to different bank Computer boots Go into BIOS and switch to XML Profile #1 #win Perhaps they weren't seated correctly initially? Meh.

Built this rig mid 2017, started getting numerous random blue screens and application crashes last month - classic signs of RAM issues. Tested with Memtest86 - nothing but errors. I haven't done any overclocking on these sticks, and they only lasted 3 years! Not gonna be buying a G.Skill product again. My previous rig, which I built in 2013, used Corsair RAM and it is still working fine. I am going to pick up a cheap replacement Corsair set.

G Skill RAM are amazing and inexpensive
27 March 2020

-Low cost -Affordable -Low cost -Affordable -what more do you want -cheap -This RAM is great and G. Skill produces great products, their Trident series are tempting but just like other RGB RAM sticks they are almost double and sometimes tripple the cost. This series is reliable and works with my AMD Ryzen despite them advertising it being for intel chips. This is perfect for a budget PC or someone who does not like RGB. I have RGB because the parts I wanted happend to have RGB. If you like RGB go with the Tridents or another series RAM is RAM, all i can say is that I trust G. Skill so that is why I recommend it.

Gave out, but got a year of "okay" use.
10 August 2021

Was working decently, had few crashes with error codes related to Memory here and there, maybe once a month, but of course after a year of use and past any warranties it gives out and crashes after 5 mins of use. Doesn't even have to be heavy RAM usage. Sucks i didn't figure out what the issue was till it gave out completely.

Running Reported 3200Mhz
6 September 2020

First ever G.Skill memory kit I've purchased, and so far so good! Installed this these on a X570 Gigabyte Aorus Elite (BIOS ver. F11) paired with a Ryzen 7 3700x. Besides needing to enable the XMP profile in the BIOS to get to the 3200Mhz, everything else is stock, no overclocking on CPU/GPU, no voltage adjustments besides what the XMP profile changes. Runs perfectly fine - no hitches, no issues so far! Thinking of getting another 2x8GB kit to make it 32GB just for future proofing, since I imagine I'll be sticking with this platform for quiet some time (and if I ever do upgrade, hopefully DDR4 is still relevant that I can just pop the extra 2x8GB into the next system and keep this one as backup). Overall, great memory kit!

This review has been over a year in the making; I’m writing this merely to share my experience. I purchased this on the Ryzen release day back in March 2017. I should have read the motherboard QVL list before purchasing but I had never had any RAM issues. For the first couple months of Ryzen, I was only able to boot at 2400MHz and only with 1.4v+. After the first AGESA update I was able to boot at 2600 and the following update I was able to boot at 2800. I built a second Ryzen PC and decided to use this RAM in my second PC and hoped I would have better luck with some Corsair RGB. Fast forward to April 2018: I upgraded my 1800x/ASRock AB350 Pro4 to 2700x/Asus Prime X470-Pro. My RAM issues continued with the Corsair RGB. When I had moved this GSkill to my 1400/ASRock AB350M Pro4 build, I had almost no issues (I settled for 3000MHz and never bothered to mess with the timings, which is more than I ever got with my 1800x). As a last resort, I tossed this RAM in my 2700x and enabled XMP and it booted!!!! As of this writing, my RAM is very stable and has survived all of my benchmarks so far! I understand that these issues have more to do with AMD/Ryzen than with G.Skill but I wanted to share my experience with this RAM. I have been using GSkill in every build for over 5 years and will continue to do so.

Worked well... while it worked...
27 December 2021

Worked well for about 7 months, then started to get random BSOD's. Was never OC'd, so a bit surprised when MemTest86 came back with a bucket full of errors. Only one stick seems bad, but that is one stick too many. From the other reviews, looks like this is not an isolated issue as there are many complaints from the time period when this memory was purchased.

Works great
11 March 2020

This kit replaced a 4x8GB kit in my computer built 4 years ago. I have been wanting to go with the 4x16GB kit, but at three times the price of he 4x8GB kit, it was out of reach for my wallet. RAM Prices had been going up since then, at one point doubling the already high price. However, recently RAM prices dropped, and the 4x16GB was now available at less than double the price I paid for the 4x8GB kit. Good time to upgrade. Compatibility was checked in the memory compatibility list for my motherboard, and indeed, it works flawlessly. 64GB RAM makes working with intensive Photoshop actions less painful. I measured a 20% percent performance increase (presumably due to reduced use of the scratch disk).

works on an MSI Z170A Gaming M5!
25 August 2020

Prior to purchasing, I had the black 8GB kit (F4-3200C16D-8GVKB). For some reason, G.Skill and MSI does not indicate that this is supported on the MSI Z170A Gaming M5 (lists the Z170A Gaming Pro Carbon and Z170A Gaming M7, lists the F4-3200C16D-16GVK and F4-3200C16D-16GVKB, respectively). So I actually took a chance, considering that the 8GVKB has the same tested latency, and I am proud to report - for anyone else looking to get this for the same motherboard - that it does work. I was choosing between this and the 3600MHz Trident (F4-3600C17D-16GTZ, also not listed as supported but has the same tested latency as F4-3600C17Q-16GTZ, which MSI indicates as compatible) but the price was a bit too much for my budget.
