I bought this mat for my daughter for Christmas. It is an absolutely beautiful design! Gorgeous! I let it air out for about 2 days then I decided to pre-clean it so it would be ready to use on Christmas morning. Luckily I did and luckily I took it to my parents to use their clothes line. The color on the pink floral design was bleeding an orange color dye and stained my cloth. After about 3 passes with soapy water I think I got most of it out. Hopefully. Other than that I think it's an awesome mat.

do NOT buy this mat - I looked at reviews and I don't know if people who have bought this mat just use it for light exercise, but if you do any sort of intermediate or advanced yoga where you'll be sweating, DO NOT BUY THIS product. It's downright dangerous - i followed the instructions to wipe it down with a damp cloth and leave it some time before use to increase stickiness. i tried using it twice and it was actually WORSE the second time. it's full on dangerous because it has no stick, and you're bound to fall or slip and hurt yourself if you use this for any type of exercise. AVOID AVOID AVOID. returning as soon as possible.

This mat is terrible! I didn’t trust the reviews but they were all right! The smell of the plastic is unbearable! The fumes even got in my throat! I am not sure what material this matter is made with but it is awful, do not buy this mat!

I practice vinyasa yoga 5-6 times per week. Prior to purchasing this mat, I've had another Gaiam mat that I've used for over 10 years. With the pandemic I wanted to gift myself a new mat. It's true the smell is horrid, but I got used to it a bit. However, what I can't get used to is the slipping. I didn't notice it the first day, but I've practiced for a few weeks now and it's getting worse. I've washed it, and scrubbed the oils off my hands and feet to see if it would help, but it doesn't. Super disappointed.
Really like this mar so far! I wiped it down with a damp cloth on both sides & left it to dry overnight. Next day it was sticky but very soft. I like the 6 mm thickness for extra padding for my knees! Overall super happy with my new mat! I have a very sensitive nose & am not bothered by any residual smell. I put my face down to the mat today (day 5 or so after opening it up) & I could smell something but not bothersome—my nose had to be right on the mat to smell it. I couldn’t detect it even in downward dog.
Been using this for about a month now 3 times a week and it's a life saver for me. I have a tile floor which means lots of bumps which would make yoga super difficult with a thinner mat. This mat has made it possible to do yoga on the tile floor without any issues.Some people have written that this mat had a strange smell to it that they couldn't get rid of. I didn't have the experience when it came the mat smelled rather nice, like incense, which I don't mind at all. So I'm not sure if that was a old review but this mat doesn't have an unpleasant smell to it at all.The design is quite beautiful and the color combination makes me smile. For what it's worth I would highly recommend this mat for anyone, especially those with challenging floors like mine.
I am really disappointed with the coloring of this mat. It does not look like it does online, or in the picture on the packaging. If you are standing on the mat it's basically two-tone, yellow and light aqua. It's definitely not as vibrant or dark as it appears above. It's almost making me dizzy! Good thing for the dim lights at my studio, or this would be returned. Yes, I could turn it over, but I specifically bought this one because I liked the pattern. I could have spent less on something without a pattern. Also has a very strong smel! Must air out before use!
I am fairly certain this is my first review on Target but I just had to leave a note about this mat. This mat seems really nice and honestly, I was really excited about using it for my first Yoga class this week. Unfortunately, it was far too odorous to use in class and moreover, still smells days later. I have it in the garage airing out at the moment. The chemical smell is overwhelmingly strong. I'm going to return it in a few days if it doesn't go away. Not going to use something that puts off an odor this strong. What I'll say is, if you do purchase this, you'll likely be as impressed with the quality of it, and the value you get with it.... just plan ahead and leave it in the garage for a week or so and let it air out completely.
This mat works for the light stretching/short yoga videos I'm following during breaks from work to try to help my posture and energy levels during the day. I could see it being slick during hot yoga. I will say there is a STRONG smell coming from the mat. It is laid over a chair right now to try to get the smell to go away but the smell is bad. Like a bad permanent marker. As long as that smell goes away soon, I'll keep it.
I love this yoga mat. I enjoy that I can flip sides if I get bored with one side. I don’t think it’s slippery at all like other reviews say but I’m not sure if it’s just because I use it barefoot so I have more traction that way. It did have a smell when I got it but I cleaned it and it went away quickly. No more smell! Well this mat does the job for what I need it for.
