Right away I started asking for replacement the always refused. then a couple of months later the big screen would not turn on and the front screen touch screen was faulty it worked only sometimes making it unusable YET again for a third time in less than a year I had to send Samsung the phone for repair but this time I was done really the price of the phone does not justify this quality and issues, once again a requested and exchange and once again they refused. This is where my disappointment with Samsung really got bad. The phone clearly is not ok and I told the last Rep I spoke to what happens if the phone fails after manufacture warranty ends because this obviously is bound to happen again, they did not care simply according to them is passed the return policy I mean What is this seriously, can they not see my struggle with a 2000$ phone? I was left with no choice and kept the phone. now right after manufacture warranty expired again for the 4th time the big screen would not turn on and the small screen touch screen would work sometimes, I would have to reboot the phone several times to get the only screen that would work to respond when touch it and to add to the fire wi-fi stops working it would not connect to Wi-Fi. At this moment I am beyond done with this I call Samsung and guess what they cant help warranty is expired. I got on a real fight with them and since they saw all the issues I previously had they did a one time exception to fix it BUT NOT TO REPLACE THE FAULTY Phone, Guess what as soon as get the phone back I'm trading it. as I mentioned the have they right idea and innovation but DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE THEY ARE MILES AWAY FROM GETTING IT RIGHT!!!!! I like the smaller screen on the front with the option to just open the phone and see a larger clearer version. The unfortunate part is all in the durability and functionality parts of the phones day to day use. SO many clitchy experiences on basic websites or applications. Many apps seem to be confused by the phone and aren't sure if you're on a phone or a tablet or a desktop and it seems as though these apps cannot present a fully functional person of themselves to work with this phone. Many apps seem to be confused by the phone and aren't sure if you're on a phone or a tablet or a desktop and it seems as though these apps cannot present a fully functional person of themselves to work with this phone. Shortly after purchasing the phone a green line just appeared out of nowhere about an inch from the bottom all the way across the screen. I was using the phone normally when this happened and watch the line just appear and it has not left since. Then about a month in the was a screen issue that looks like small veins or string that formed in the middle of the screen. One again this appeared during normal use of the phone while in my hands and has not gone away since. Of course the Samsung warranty will not cover such damage as a manufacturer defect but if you have tons of money to continually pay the deductible for a replacement you can have an incredible cool kinda sorta functional tablet, phone, laptop computer thing with cracks and lines you cannot explain. Also the factory installed screen protector was peeling around the edges on its own making it appear to be just a shipping or temporary protective cover and not an actual screen protector. Games do not know how to react to the tablet/phone and MANY apps do not transfer from the open to unopened screens or vice versa. They glitch a bit and ultimately you have to close the applications and reboot them on the other screen. Cases are non protective and they don't stay on the front display side well. Just expected more from such an extremely expensive phone. Processor honestly shows no improvement in app capability and speed. I miss my Note 20 ultra. 2 let downs in a row from my to to phone manufacturer. The s22 ultra was a joke of an upgrade and the Z fold 4 is heartbreaking but I hope out hope that by version number 10 the foldable phone just may become an upgrade for something other than watching movies on a larger screen. Functions like a cheap tablet.

Very good build quality as well. My device unfortunately took a tumble or 2 since I've had it on concrete and tile but only walked away with light scratches. Would not recommend this device though to someone who has long nails as they can scratch the internal screen. Only other complaint I've heard when friends and family ask to see it is the fact that all of the settings and options although nice overwhelm users used to iOS. I don't have this complaint though as I'm in IT and love the ability to customize my experience from the ground up but understand the concern from others. While this is a great device there is always room for additional improvements/innovation some thing that I would like to see in the future are:Wishlist:-wish the device folded flat/flush(there is a small gap when closed)-wish the front display also had a pixel array to hide the camera when not in use. Would gladly take a dip in image quality for this feature-wish there was a raised texture material on the volume rocker so you can find it easier in the dark or pocket-front display s pen support-wish there was a model variant with S pen slot built into the device. Could make deivce wider to accommodate or modify the hinge to be bigger in order accept an s pen. Would even accept a magnetic option for the pen to attach to the side when not in use etc just something that intergrates the pen itself to the device.-make internal display crease less noticeable, it can be jarring at first to glide your finger over the groove but you get used to after ahwile. Not noticable when viewing content but wish it wasn't there.-Battery-this is a general note for Samsung, after hearing about older devices batteries starting to swell I began looking though storage to find my older note 10 plus and galaxy S9 plus both which had swollen batteries to the point that the back glass cracked and separated from the housing. Also have 2 coworkers and a friend with devices less than 3 years old with the same issues while the old phones were in storage. At this point Samsung you need to take notice on this issue. It isn't simply a fad or bandwagoning of the YouTuber frontlinning the expose it's a real issue. The batteries themselves have a rating of at least 4-5 years printed right on the label and there still is a high probability that this will happen prematurely. I of course intend to upgrade my devices more frequently than that should affect my daily driver but not a good feeling when you spent $1800 on a deivce that my not physically survive a 3 year journey if I choose to keep it that long. Other vendors have had issues like all products there is a fail-rate but Samsung..your name should not always come first in your customers (or competitor's) mind when thinking about battery safety.Tldr: great phone great device, continue leading.the pack for foldables etc and making innovations but fix the battery issue ASAP, there are billions of galaxy's in the world and even if a lower percentage failed that touches almost everyone on the globe in some capacity. At that point everyone on earth would know someone with this issue or know someone who then also knows someone.Excuse format and grammar, quick review

Great gimmick, great execution *concessions needed
10 October 2022

Just bought the phone, been using it for a few days. There's no real issues I personally have, but understand that you MUST go into buying gimmicks knowing that you MUST make concessions. This phone will not have the best screen, or be the strongest processor or durability wise, and its camera is years behind the quality of cameras on phones nowadays. But what you're getting is something different than just a regular phone. There are fun quirks that set this phone apart from the competition, but understand that you are going to sacrifice certain forms of reliability. I own a professional camera, so I don't care that this phone camera is the equivalent of something top of the line in 2018. There's no real issues I personally have, but understand that you MUST go into buying gimmicks knowing that you MUST make concessions. But what you're getting is something different than just a regular phone. There are fun quirks that set this phone apart from the competition, but understand that you are going to sacrifice certain forms of reliability. I own a professional camera, so I don't care that this phone camera is the equivalent of something top of the line in 2018. I take good care of my phones, plus never (accidentally) drop them, so the fact that the hinge can theoretically be snapped in half is less of an issue for me. The downsides FOR ME, are unimportant, so I prefer to use something fun compared to the "old reliable". Products like the flip and fold phones show me that big corporations can actually create new and interesting tech instead of regurgitating the same product over and over again. Even though Samsung is guilty with this as well, they have always been ahead of the competition when it comes to making interesting gimmicky side projects like the note line of phones, and edge line. They eventually took X gimmick or idea, iterated on it, and released a better, more refined version. Case in point, the flip 4 is the first phone in this line that is really competitive with the competition. For me, the product is around an 80 to 90/100 and I can't ask for anything better for the price point and the tech out at the moment (thank you guys who used the flip 1 to 3 for beta testing the design), but for some people, the gimmick isn't useful or fun enough for the price asked, and they might give it more of a 3 star review. If you have the expectation that this phone should be better than the tried and true flat phones out there that has been done for more than a decade now, please don't do that. Be pleasantly surprised for a quirky, slightly flawed product that comes so close to the current best phones on the market. But remember, those phones don't flip. This review is coming from a guy who bought the lavender color, 128 gb model, and I've been using the Samsung S 10 before this, the S 7 edge before that, the Note 4 before that, the IPhone 4S before that (cough cough), and a flip phone before that. I've come full circle.

Lovely Idea - Terrible manufacturing

First of all, I did love the novelty of it. I grew up in the original era of flip phones and as far as technology goes currently, this is a great little bit of kit that pushes the boundaries. However, with any new technology there are teething issues.I have had my flip z3 for just over 12 months and almost to the day of anniversary, I had the dreaded crease in the screen protector, which eventually turned into a full blown tear and removal of the screen protector. Took to a local EE store who said Samsung will charge me around £300 for a screen repair/replacement. I was ever so slightly stunned by this, given its a commonly known issue and at least in my eyes a manufacturing fault/issue.Appreciate the concept of additional insurance but in all honesty that should be for misuse, accidental damage etc, rather than something caused by just poor product design/robustness.Considering my contract is over £50 p/m I can't justify the splashing of £300-ish on a screen on a phone that is more than likely prone to do this again in a year and cost the same again. At that point, I might as well bite the bullet, take an early upgrade or just get a second hand iPhone and bin this one.I've had Samsung, iPhone, Nokia and all manner of weird and wonderful phones in the past. I don't consider myself biased or particularly bothered about brand loyalty. Samsung have always made some interesting and novel phones and android has always been a great system for a whole host of apps. I have to say at this point I think once the novelty of opening and closing it wore off, I started to see it as essentially just another android phone. Given the fact that I now have a phone with a known development issue and will be asked to pay an extortionate amount to fix it, with a high possibility it will break again in 12 months, it's left a bit of a bitter taste in the mouth with Samsung. If it was free to repair and largely clear that it was due to a common issue (and not just personal misadventure) then I'd be fine with losing my phone for a week here and there to get it sorted, but to pay on top is in my opinion, for a global corporation, absolutely ludicrous. When the screen eventually cracks completely and causes issues, I'll have to just fork out for a used iPhone/alternative android and will ultimately never purchase a Samsung again. Genuine shame as I've never really had major issues before, but can't justify the risk anymore.

Now THIS is a flagship device!
6 October 2022

For background: I am a long term Galaxy Note user (think Note II), and I had my eye on the fold series since release, but I stuck to note series up until the S22Ultra.I'll give you my wives reaction from the first moment she held the Fold 4 "I want it, this is perfect and beautiful." This, from is a long term iPhone user and Android hater. Now, the S22Ultra did not hold the Note standards I was accustomed to, especially with battery life and the one I received had camera issues. So it felt like a good time for change. With the Fold 4 being released and having an S Pen Included, I finally took the plunge and I am amazed at this innovation on every use!The features and function of the Fold 4 are very polished, and it's obvious a lot of amazing work went into ... MoreFor background: I am a long term Galaxy Note user (think Note II), and I had my eye on the fold series since release, but I stuck to note series up until the S22Ultra.I'll give you my wives reaction from the first moment she held the Fold 4 "I want it, this is perfect and beautiful." I can't fail to mention that the Fold 4 actually has 2 batteries so it is able to balance usage very well. I can go a full day between charges with my normal usage. For context: My normal usage is 7AM - 11:30PM calls, texts, taking photos, recording video, browsing & interacting with social media, video editing, uploading content to social media, web browsing for research, note taking with the Samsung notes app (I have 2.44Gb of notes), youtube video watching, and I end my day with some 3D gaming on the large screen for about 1 hour. By the end my battery is at about 14%. To me, that's perfect.Performance on this Fold 4 is the best I've ever seen; you could call it snappy but it's more like instant, especially if you disable or reduce animations.Use of quick tasks and "regular" features on the front outside screen, even though it is slim, works amazigly well and even the keyboard use is smooth with my large thumbs, which was the first thing I worried about. The thickness of the Fold 4, when closed, is actually quite welcome, feels more natural in the hand, and also while holding the phone with your shoulder to talk... something I missed with the ultra thin devices. The experience with the large foldable inside screen is wonderful, especially how seamless it is to continue something you started on the front screen, 3d games bring the exception, but why would you game on the small screen?! I do recommend turning on the option to continue on the front screen when closed, it works really well in most apps.Gaming.. did I mention gaming is awesome on the fold 4?! I no longer have to pull out my tablet or connect an external screen for size, the foldable screen makes excellent use of every pixel plus the softer screen feels wonderful for touch controls and is incredibly accurate. Gaming performance is bar none the best on this device and I am amazed at how fast things load.I highly recommend this device to anyone, even iPhone users. Take advantage of the Samsung trade-in program and send in 2 phones for credit to lower the total cost. After 1 month of use, are there things I would change if Samsung would lend me their ear? yes... If I could make this device absolute perfection I would only make the screen size wider/larger to at least an s22 size on both the outside screen and obviously match it on the Inside screen X2 due to some aspect ratios. Obviously if battery capacity needed to be increased to match screen size vs use time, it would also be assumed. If I was to get extremely picky for a wish list item... make the s-pen attached and work on both screens, but so far neither has been a deal breaker.

Planned Obsolescence - disappointment
7 March 2023

I pre-ordered the zFlip4 in early August 2022, thrilled to defend my Samsung product against Apple- friends and family, and received it in late September 2022. Previously I was a lifelong iPhone user however I am possibly returning, as my experience has been inadequate. As a first-time Samsung user, my first impression has been detrimental to my consideration of purchasing any other Samsung products.I will admit, initially, i too was immersed by the intriguing product, as i had taken interest in the flip line ever since the zFlip3 was released. Aside from this complication, the phone itself was satisfactory, slightly fragile with a horrible battery life (lasting shorter compared to my 4year old iPhone with a 73% maximum capacity)My zFlip4 was merely slightly ... MoreI pre-ordered the zFlip4 in early August 2022, thrilled to defend my Samsung product against Apple- friends and family, and received it in late September 2022. Aside from this complication, the phone itself was satisfactory, slightly fragile with a horrible battery life (lasting shorter compared to my 4year old iPhone with a 73% maximum capacity)My zFlip4 was merely slightly over 5 months old when I was forced to use my old iPhone 11. The zFlip4 had failed to outlive my 4year old iPhone. I woke up as per usual and recognised a black LCD line across the fold of my zFlip4, which increased in size the more i opened/closed the phone. Horrified, I checked if my phone was still functioning, only to register the fact that the top half of my screen was unresponsive to touch.I contacted Samsung, who sent my phone to Icure for an 'inspection' to inform me of assumed knowledge, which was priced at $66. I was not informed of the inspection price beforehand. I was absolutely appalled by the price of the repair. $540 ( reduced to $200 if you preordered the product however I assume those reading these reviews intend to purchase the product). I acknowledge and recognise that modern flip phones are "fairly" recent and repair prices may be costly however I did not expect the repair to be priced at half the cost of an iPhone, or a third of the original product. Nevertheless, I believe the price is absurd for just an LCD screen replacement. I question whether this price is coherent as I do not believe I am at fault due to a MINUSCULE "dent on the edge of the bezel". If this was the case, the issue should have appeared when the dent was made, which could not have been overnight as my phone was left untouched, unless the product was made to deteriorate rapidly. I am still a student, studying, and it is distressing to cough up such a sum of money unexpectedly as I have spent all my savings to purchase the actual product itself. My research conducted discovered that this complication was admittedly common amongst previous zflip3 users link:https://eu.community.samsung.com/t5/galaxy-z-fold-z-flip/z-flip-3-phone-with-black-line-across-screen-at-fold-crease-of/td-p/5210802This exhibits how Samsung has not acknowledged this issue revolving around zFlip3 users, which should have been prevented and established in advance of releasing the zFlip4. If you are interested in purchasing the zFlip4, you may as well purchase the zFlip3 as they are practically identical in features and share the same "issues".My intentions of critically reviewing this product are due to the fact that I would have appreciated reading a review similar to this, instead of numerous positive reviews of promoting consumers who have owned the product for merely 2 weeks, before I purchased the zFlip4. It is devastating to say I now regret my choices and should have chosen the iPhone 14 instead. Moral of the story, steer away from the zFlip phones.

Software Is A Little Too Detached; Overall Great!
9 December 2022

I've had the phone for a little over three months. In short, the experience it a little too broken with apps often needing restarts to function properly for the aspect ratio you're currently in. Because of the excellent RAM management, apps opened a few days prior, if opened again but in a different state like an unfolded one, won't correctly size the elements of the app for the way it's currently being used. For instance, Instagram and YouTube will often maintain their UI from the "normal" folded aspect ratio and will often stretch it's elements to fit into the unfolded, wider aspect ratio. This make it feel just like an unsupported/unoptimized app. An overall minor grievance as it's fixed by closing the app and reopening in the state you want your phone to be ... MoreI've had the phone for a little over three months. For instance, Instagram and YouTube will often maintain their UI from the "normal" folded aspect ratio and will often stretch it's elements to fit into the unfolded, wider aspect ratio. This make it feel just like an unsupported/unoptimized app. An overall minor grievance as it's fixed by closing the app and reopening in the state you want your phone to be used, but it is annoying to deal with on a near daily basis. It does occur with a lot of apps used daily, though Twitter, for example, seems to have no issues. Unsure how much of this will be fixed with future software updates from these companies and/or Samsung.Outside of this, the experience is great! Outside of the frankly outdated concerns over durability, a glass screen protector is all that's needed! A lot of dust and lint among other things will enter the interior screen, likely due to the everpresent gap when the phone is shut closed. Hopefully this can be fixed in the future as the fear of closing the phone with a crumb or something of similar size that's made its way in, can cause the interior screen to break, is always present. Battery life is good! As well as performance. I keep my phone in light performance mode and can't tell a difference between the standard, but can tell with battery life improvements. Durability is good as it was dropped by a careless friend and handled it better than most phones. No cracks and only minor damage to the aluminum frame despite the increased weight. The image produced by the screens are very bright and provides a satisfying image. HDR in Prime Video is finally noticeable and the interior screen has become my primary video watching screen because of its quality. It makes my TV dark and boring by comparison. I believe the durability concerns of the Fold 1 and 2 are long behind us, and I'm excited to see how the overall experience will change in these coming months, especially with Android 13 around the corner.

Unique and powerful phone with limited accessories
17 December 2022

I've had this phone since release day and overall, it's been pretty good. There are some quirks and some weird app scaling issues here and there, but overall it's been enjoyable to use. I've always gotten compliments on it when taking it out at client sites - they always seem interested in it and ask what type of phone it is.It has plenty of storage and a slew of features. The camera array is disappointing coming from a Note 10+ 5G which had the exact same camera system, but it's definitely usable overall. I do like the ability to angle the camera using the fold of the phone.Within about 10 months, however, my original phone started exhibiting failure of the front screen, a failed proximity/light sensor (this caused the screen to stay on during phone calls, ... MoreI've had this phone since release day and overall, it's been pretty good. The camera array is disappointing coming from a Note 10+ 5G which had the exact same camera system, but it's definitely usable overall. I do like the ability to angle the camera using the fold of the phone.Within about 10 months, however, my original phone started exhibiting failure of the front screen, a failed proximity/light sensor (this caused the screen to stay on during phone calls, leading to unintentional presses) and some random crashes. I've babied the phone since day one and never used it outside of a heavy-duty case, so I was surprised when these issues arose. I did get Samsung Care for it though, which is a first for me, and Asurion was very quick to get a replacement sent my way. I have been using that replacement since then without issue. The included inside screen protector is great while it's there, but failed quickly on both my original phone as well as the replacement, exhibiting a crease right down the fold. It appears to be more pronounced around the area where the keyboard shows up, leading me to believe it is exacerbated by finger oils or grime. Eventually I got rid of the screen protector on both, but that led me to discover issues with one of my bigger grips with the phone, and that is the aftermarket support: It's very lacking if you're looking for quality.I have been using the phone in a Spigen Tough Armor case since day one and I have warrantied the case once. Given the unique design of the phone itself, full coverage cases aside from the aformentioned model (cases that protect the hinge as well) are nearly impossible to find, and good quality screen protectors are even more difficult to find. I have tried models from SuperShieldz and Whitestone Dome - both TPU, both with their own slew of failures. I will reiterate that I am not rough on the phone at all.For what it is, it is a great device. I am sure the Z Fold 4 is better and I have heard that it has a much better camera array, but I will personally be returning to a more "traditional" style of phone once it comes out - something like the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra or whatever it ends up being named.

Zero complaints, it pays to pay more for tech.

Barely no lost calls, the themes and choices offered are impressive especially for free. The system usually remembers it's settings ie night and day setting, calander, and display orientation checked in settings. Security is very nice there's numerous security types to check out and pick incidentally if you don't pick one and opt into Samsung updates they'll take care of your system for you, super nice, I know it's just business however I feel it's very thoughtful, Samsung puts their money where their mouth is in terms of doing what they say, and advertising what they say they do. Which is un heard of these, with so many companies vying for your attention this company actually stays on top of things, in other words it feel llike they care. Which is un heard of these, with so many companies vying for your attention this company actually stays on top of things, in other words it feel llike they care. And that tells me that they like their creation, and I can respect that whole heartedly. I love how big the screen gets when the phone is open I never get tired of seeing my neat screen. The magnified text(s) is super cool, finally a system that gets big enough with color and other options to. It fits the screen doesn't tell you if you pick this option some features may now be available to you do you still wish to proceed? So what that means is by accepting that clause per se an app may not either cover the screen or won't work or it's not formatted (to big) to fit your screen. I only had one app not in compliance here and I do t fault the developer because thay may not be aware of the issue. I know it's not my phone! The notification sounds are finally different from HTC, BLACKBERRY, AND any other phone designer. I'm so sick of hearing the same ring tones for years..the sound quality is un comparable it has speakers at BOTH ENDS OF THE PHONE so even if you tilt it, when the screen rotates the screen will adjust to its comparative sound levels. Also it's so nice that the ZFold volume buttons/on off screen button are conveniently located...get this, to match which way you turn the phone, Example: watching videos/movies sometimes you have to interrupt your show, no more fumbling with the phone to pick it and lower the volume up/down because they only go one way on top of the screen designed so there's no confusion as to how also for optimum sound induction to pump out that show no matter where your at. Its not woofer speaker but its definitely a formidable volume, so much so I'm always comfy when havong to wait in long lines in public, usually im scolded to turn it down, your never confused where the volume button is. Ive needed that feature for a long time and constantly utilize it. I feel so fortunate to have this phone, it's literally taken off years of stress, I used to want to have a universal day of smash your frustrating junkie cell phone! But now you never hear of me complaining about my ZFold Galaxy I absolutely love it. And I'm hard to please, I like bells and whistles that do what they say and come through with flying colors. I could go on and on about the quality and durability and options and excellent exception to this fun mobile, however I don't think you want to read a book, I have so much more to say but not enough time.
