The only slight negative point to raise is that the inner surface of the back is matte/rough as well as the outer surface of the back. This means that there's a rough feel to sliding the cards in. I don't think they actually endanger a card, and I were concerned enough about a card, I'd probably be double sleeving anyway. However, it does seem like a smooth inner surface and matte/rough outer surface for the back, like e.g. dragon shield art brushed sleeves have, is a slightly better design.Shuffle feel is really good, at least equal to dragon shield art brushed, which in turn is much better than other dragon shield art sleeves. Some brands refer to this as anti-glare and only use the word matte to describe the backs. The colors are slightly less vivid through matte fronts, but there is also less glare. This is a matter of preference and I don't consider it a flaw. However, if your preference is for gloss and you bought these because they don't prominently mention anti-glare, you would be disappointed. The package front mentions eye fatigue, but I don't think it's explicit enough that this refers to a matte/anti-glare front film.

The sleeves are fine, but slightly different in look to other makes used foe same purpose. For example I bought them for an expansion. The core game cards had already been sleeved with FFG sleeves which are no longer available. The expansion cards were sleeved with the Gamegenic sleeves. If you look carefully fat the identical backs of the cards you can see a difference in the Matt surfaces.

Sleeve quality is nice, so I am giving 3 stars for that. However, compared to something like Ultra Pro's Matte Sleeves, they just aren't as nice to use. With these Gamegenic Matte sleeves, unfortunately, the front and back have the same level of Matte finish, making the art actually hard to see, and significantly muting the colors. In comparison to UP's Matte sleeves, the back of the sleeve is completely matte like Gamegenic's, however the front (where you see the art of the card) is much more translucent. If you want the most readable cards, with the benefit of matte sleeves (reduced glare, less slippery cards), I wouldn't recommend these Gamegenic sleeves.

Great replacements for FFG sleeves
7 September 2021

These sleeves are great. I was really sad to see the old FFG sleeves get retired. But these live up to the quality of the older sleeves. It's only the price that is disappointing. I bought 5 other brands of sleeves trying to find a replacement for my FFG sleeves. After I've tested all of them. This is definitely the sleeve that comes closest. I bought these greens for Descent and they fit perfect.

Great, but....
8 August 2023

Gamegenic sleeves come in a wide array of sizes, textures, and colors. Everyone seems to prefer matte textured sleeves, so it's nice to see that Gamegenic has them in almost every type of sleeve. Personally, I think Gamegenic sleeves are great, but I wish they were just a bit thicker, or offered a thicker option. Unfortunately, companies that have thicker sleeves don't have the same selection of sizes that Gamegenic has.

I used these to sleeve the large cards in Star Wars: Rebellion and its expansion, Rise of the Empire. They fit great, and the quality is high (as always for Gamegenic). I am happy with my purchase!

Quality sleeves at a quality price
18 November 2021

Quality matte sleeves at a great price. Lots of colors to choose from, easy shuffle, and low reflection makes matte sleeves an easy choice. I've not noticed any visible indications of card backs through the sleeves so feel free to proxy cards with these.

Smooth & strong
13 January 2023

I've gotten their clear, gloss sleeves before and I don't think I'll buy those types again because these matte finish ones are SO MUCH smoother. They don't stick to one another like the gloss ones do and make shuffling so much easier!

Well made, sturdy sleeves

All sleeves are well made with no defects. Matte finish makes for easy riffle shuffling. I ordered these for Dice Throne and Dice Throne Adventures which fit perfectly in this size of sleeve.

a luxurious card sleeve ?
19 May 2022

I realize people sleeve game cards for various reasons and the matte finish may not suit all situations however, the luxurious feel and nonglare nature of these premium coverings elevate the card and the ART in such a satisfying way that it is hard (for me at least) to not want to re-sleeve my entire collection with them. The fit is snug without distorting the card, the finish facilitates shuffling better than gloss sleeves and the thickness is just right for a premium level of protection. The premium price may be a factor to consider but in my opinion, they are well worth it even if they are used for only a few select and cherished games.
