Well, it is a 49" screen, what exactly did they expect? But, While I lose the back corners of my desk. the screen is not as inconvenient as my old 34 inch ultrawide flat screen. It is thin enough and sits further back on the desk.Is it too curved? That was my concern as I was comparing it to the new MSI OLED screen at about $500 more. As this is a VA screen, it doesn't carry the same burn-in risk and the screen is very bright and non-reflective. If you can suffer through waiting 7 10ths of a millisecond for response, this is the screen you should get. But back to the curvature topic. In a normal seating position the wings of the monitor keep the viewing angle nearly perpendicular with the screen. It is *not* too curved.

Unfortunately, I did not get enough time to review all aspects of the monitor as I wanted to. As well. Please excuse the messy picture and the wood blocks. To adapt it to my office setup the monitor is so heavy even on my heavy duty 4 monitor stand I had to use wood to keep it upwards. With that said now onto the review. I did two separate setups, Gaming and on my home office setup. I got to test work and see the difference in the quality of photos. You’ll see my dog in one the bottom is this new G9.Starting with Gaming: My brother did more intense testing with the gaming. But I got a chance to play assassins creed via PS5 on it. I have to say for me it was quite the experience compared to playing on a 60-inch tv this was just great I felt like I was more immersed in the game as the monitor was wrapping around me although I did get a little motion sick after 45 minutes, so I had to stop lol. From me and my brother on his other games it is a big screen, and, on some games, it does feel like it just stretches the picture a little too much in an awkward way it didn't bother me as much. The color is great, it is quite vivid if you change it depending on what game you are playing or what you are doing. Very responsive Frame Rate with FPS and Racing games. But this monitor excels in Racing! Over the shoulder games are fun because you can see more. FPS does take a little getting used to. In playing with the options, the black stabilizer and response time makes older games look like new such as Bloodborne. Comparing this to another brand 27" the 240 to 144hz it’s not super noticeable at first but the more you play the more you notice how much better it is. Compared to a 27 Flat the FPS blows it out of the water. If we had the money would probably buy 2 or 3 more of them. For my testing alone I hooked it up to my home office system which is running Dual 2GB 4 Port Memory cards on a 128GB additional On-Board Ram. I used this monitor to replace 2 older 27" monitors on the bottom row and got a chance to test against 2 Samsung 32" flat and 4 Samsung 32" curved on the other side. This monitor is a game changer for me. I tried using the PIP mode and loved it as the Display port input and HDMI input for the right side. It was great splitting it up because there was no barrier between the two when moving screens around left to right, so I never missed anything I was working on. I will investigate buying another one!

Excellent monitor! I use it for a little bit of everything, i.e. play games, software development, video editing, etc. The monitor is excellent for gaming, and very nice and clear for textual use (i.e. programming for me). What I didn't like initially was apps that would full screen if maximized, and most apps are not usable this way. To make it "behave" like two monitors, I purchased the pro version of "Display Fusion" (does a bunch of other things too), and now I can maximize to the left or right side of the monitor, and turn it off when playing games. While programming, I almost always need to see 3 things at a time, and not having to flip between them is very nice. When I initially got the monitor, it got pretty warm, then I realized that there's a setting in the menu that sets the refresh at 240hz. Way overkill for day to day use. Since I've turned that off, the monitor barely warms up. The base is very nice, it's flat (some monitors have legs that spread out and get in your way), so you can put things on it. Also the height and tilt adjustment works well. Highly recommended if you have the space

I've been watching and wanting these Odyssey monitors for years so when the opportunity came to get one, I did not hesitate and jumped on it immediately. The monitor was shipped in its Samsung packaging and arrived safely which I was worried about simply because of the size of it. No damage, no dead pixels, it is perfect. This monitor is an upgrade in every way to the dual 1080p 165hz monitors I was using, the resolution is higher, the refresh rate is higher, and the pixel density is much higher. Coming from dual monitors I was worried that despite the upgrades I’d still lose functionality in some way. Coming from dual monitors I was worried that despite the upgrades I’d still lose functionality in some way. I was wrong however; this monitor offers true PIP/PBP mode so it can either be used as a single 5120x1440 or dual 2560x1440 monitors and it only requires the graphics card to have two HDMI ports. It then shows up as true dual monitors except you don’t have a plastic bezel dividing them. For productivity and gaming it's great and can be switched from PIP/PBP mode easily for the two tasks. The 32:9 aspect ratio is great and most games these days seem to support it without issues and without screen stretch. The “fishbowl” effect I’ve heard about with these curved ultrawide monitors also does not seem to be an issue for me. I’ve had no problems using it for long periods of time. The actual build quality is great, the base of the stand is 3/16” plate steel and is very sturdy. I was considering using my own stand to clear the 5” speakers I use but I did not need to and upon setting up and using the monitor and stand I’m pretty sure the factory stand is better than what I can get online. Cable management is good, there is a channel in the back of the monitor and routes the cables along the inside of it and the stand has a rubber cables retainer in the rear to hold them in place, so you don’t see the cables.Overal I’m very satisfied with the monitor and haven’t found one downside yet to the upgrade for me. It’s just better in every way and I’m glad I have it now.

I use the CRG9 primarily for work (documents, spreadsheets, research, etc.), but it also allows me to have an immersive gaming environment in my downtime. I needed to replace multiple monitors and the CRG9 was better suited for that than a normal 21:9 ultrawide would have been. My particular use case involved sharing via MS Teams and making use of PBP on my work machine to avoid having to install FancyZones or Samsung's Easy Settings Box. On my personal machine, I can easily use such software and I don't do screensharing, anyway. The CRG9 replaced my 3 old 1080p monitors, entirely removed the bezels, and provided much better framerates and resolution than my previous setup.I simply use two of the DisplayPort inputs to split the screen in hardware (rather than ... MoreI use the CRG9 primarily for work (documents, spreadsheets, research, etc.), but it also allows me to have an immersive gaming environment in my downtime. You could also split it in hardware using one HDMI input and one DisplayPort input. You can still manually extend windows across both halves of the monitor if you like, but this allows snapping to halves, quarters, and eights of the monitor while preventing aspect ratio issues from sharing screens via MS Teams. Obviously, this wouldn't work if you have only one display output on your machine and you don't have a docking station/port replicator/adapter of some sort. I use my CRG9 mostly for Excel, Word, etc., and it's been outstanding for that purpose.

Samsung has finally updated the budget friendly G9 with the stand shared by the higher end models which is much more ergonomic than the older x shaped leg stand. This alone makes for a worthwhile upgrade but the HDR performance is where this really stands out.For computer work, there is a lot of static images especially in applications like chrome and outlook and the taskbar so running an OLED monitor didn't seem like an appropriate choice. This VA panel paired with HDR in windows provides silky blacks with a balanced color contrast and I don't have to worry about burn-in. The 240 hz screen paired with a 3080 ment high frame rates all the time. Since these are essentially 2 1440p monitors put together, the pixel density made text very readable in games. These days many new games can natively run 32:9 res and older games can be tweaked thru settings or file edits to get it working. The curve is perfect enough where I didn't need to strain my neck side to side to view the entire screen and it helps with the immersion.Going back to the stand, I like the RGB ring on the back and the flat base feels more sturdy than the old base. You can raise and lower the height with one hand although I recommend using 2.Overall a very nice monitor that I highly recommend.

As a fan of gaming, especially in the flight and racing sims, this display has outshined anything else I have tried or seen. Its not just wonderfully wide, making everything feel like a insanely immersive experience, the colors and contrast depths and HDR make this so much more beautiful and breathtaking. Take Baldur's Gate 3 for example. You will just experience more of the game perfectly, the torches will shine so beautifully bright, and contrast amazingly against the dark unlit areas. The colors are vibrant but true to life. For sims, the extra cockpit view to see your lefts and rights, making turns and other vehicles much easier to gauge and is just a treat compared to standard or even less wide monitors. Both of those combined make gaming a very true to life experience.Lastly, a couple of other very neat features are the auto switch + and the eye saver modes. Auto switch + lets me have my Switch plugged in and then when I want to play on that, I just turn it on and it automatically switches over to the Switch's HDMI input. super handy to not have to mess around behind the monitor with inputs or fiddle with the input buttons every time. Eye saver reduces blue light and adds warm tones to the image, which is great when I am on it for long amounts of time and during the night to help prevent messing with my sleep cycle.Would buy again and again, I really struggle to imagine going back to anything less.

Sometimes I have some Configuration difficulty, but it has not been anything that has prevented me or changed my view about this being the best monitor I have purchased. As an example I am using a laptop and dock, with HDMI and displayport mixed. Sometimes my laptop registers the ports different and I will lose my surround and maybe just need to reconfigure Nvidia to set up again. Nothing that is too extremely difficult, just a slight annoyance at times and very infrequent. The colors and brightness are phenomenal, as well as the responsiveness of this monitor. I believe this is even the lower refresh rate version so I could only imagine how surreal that one would be. I do everything from gaming in surround to one side gaming, other side monitoring security or tasks, to performing general daily tasks. I have use TV as monitors and many other large format PC monitors and as far as the wide-screen layout this has been my best investment.

[Rewarded Review] Upgrade over Traditional Multimonitor Setup
8 April 2024

The Odyssey G9 is a great product for getting into the ultrawide gaming space. With the crisp display, fast refresh rate and modern connection specs, its hard to find a better monitor for what it has to offer.I'm traditionally a multi monitor user (3 before this screen) and I appreciate how it clears up the space unlike before with many cables, cords and wires around. Having a seamless display makes better use of the space and creates a more flexible multi window environment. Setup was quick and easy.I've tested a few games with this monitor without any issues. Sometimes I like to have other windows open so I change the view to "windowed borderless" which most games support. Sometimes I'll connect a retro video game console which is handy for the picture in picture feature. You do lose a couple of the display features when you use it but its mostly not an issue as my input from those systems don't take advantage of them anyways. I'd suggest downloading a ultrawide monitor window manager to get the most out of your experience.Overall, if you have the hardware to support a screen this large when gaming, I see very little reason where you could go wrong with this unit.

[Rewarded Review] Very interesting monitor
29 November 2024

This monitor has a lot of features like 240hz refresh rate that makes watching videos and playing games really smooth! The curve takes some being used to but I like it and don't think it's too extreme or distracting. The picture on picture is able to show two different sources simultaneously like my desktop and work laptop. The integrated USB plugs are convenient and get the job done. The coresync rear ambient light is hit or miss. I just leave it at a static color. The screen feels very sturdy and was easy to mount. You may want a second person to help setup as it is really wide and challenging to do solo, I would know. The box was almost as tall as me which my picture does no justice. The tuning however was very basic and leaves me wanting more customization like ... MoreThis monitor has a lot of features like 240hz refresh rate that makes watching videos and playing games really smooth! The tuning however was very basic and leaves me wanting more customization like other samsung screens. However, the screen is pretty sharp in full resolution and hdr enabled. The input plugs are hard to maneuver because of a lip that you need to bend the cable at a right angle to overcome. The screen flickers quite a bit as it and my pc struggle to find each other when booting up and loading some games. At the end of the day it is a pricey item that performs strong out the box which does have some shortcomings if you really nitpick but once u get past those small things, it's a really good product!
