I purchased the Garmin approach S12 for myself. I couldn’t be more pleased with my purchase. Not only has it met all of my expectations, it surpassed them. I’m far from tech savvy, so I’m beyond excited and proud that Garmin made this watch so simple to operate. Golf HQ had the best price when I purchased my watch and I had it less than 48 hours after ordering it. Thanks to Garmin and Golf HQ.John, Wynne, AR.

I received this watch last week since my old Garmin S1 no longer fully charged and the charging clip spring snapped almost immediately after purchase. This watch is way better overall. I only had the opportunity to try it out on the only golfable day remaining this season and found it excellent. It included distance to hazards which I loved and the yardages were very accurate. This watch has all the courses already installed and the buttons are very easy to navigate. I love the interface and the watch itself is very attractive. I got this watch at a good sale price online and picked up in a Best Buy store close by. The service by BestBuy was excellent. I got the black watch, but am going to order a light coloured strap next spring from the Garmin site. Great gps watch, find course quickly, has sufficient information that you need, distances are accurate, moves in to the next hole seamlessly. Easy to read information. Battery life is good and charging is straight forward. Highly recommend for the price, I don't need the capabilities higher priced watches provide and couldn't warrant the additional spend to me it's not worth it, this watch does everything I need and very well.

My old Approach X10 was about 5 years old and not charging properly, so I figured it was time for a new Garmin. I like the new one better than I expected. Much longer battery life per charge. Locates satellites faster. Controls are very different, but I’m quickly learning. I just hope the crystal doesn’t scratch too easily — a sapphire crystal would have been nice.
Great golf watch, performed better than expected, accurate, extremely helpful tool and very easy to use while playing on/off course. Overall, I’m very happy and pleased with purchase and would highly recommend.Some of my favorite features:-affordable.- In full sunlight, it was still easy to read watch readings.-the speed the golf gps feature found courses.-I was able to retrieve green shape and distances to the front, middle and back of the green.-Distance to hazards.-Keeps score, which automatically upload to my Garmin Golf app.
I had a previous generation Garmin golf GPS watch and it did well. I upgraded to the S12 and after playing a couple of rounds I am very pleased. The battery life is outstanding. Maybe it’s because I was already familiar with a Garmin product, but the watch is extremely user friendly. If you don’t feel the need to have a color screen on your watch and want a reliable, functional golf watch, this is it.
Precise. It can determine which fairway you are on when there is very little separation between two parallel fairways. Basic features are easy to find. The display is very sharp. I have used only the basic features that I need.Big drawback: the printed operating instructions that were provided and those online are very brief and incomplete. I had to go to other sources to find out how to get certain displays ( eg clock time, for one ). Many of the features are impractical because of the time required to make the entries during active play.
This is great. I am usually reliant pacing out yardages from stakes or sprinklers, never sure if they are to the front or middle of the green. This has made me confident of my club choice and really helped my accuracy of irons into greens. It has also been more helpful than I thought on pitching into greens from 100 yards and less.
I bought this a month ago and so far, no major issues. The display could be bigger, and also color instead of black and white, but my guess is that's available in a more expensive model. The watch should have a USB-C plug instead of this weird (I assume proprietary) connector. All I wanted was an easy way to get the distance to the green and this works fine for that.
Only giving a 3/5. a couple reasons, 1 buttons get pushed too easy on wrist changes screens inbetween shots. 2 i have gotten fully comfortable going through menus to use other features on course. so takes too much time on a busy course. but it is light weight, if it stays on right hole and screen having the front mid back of a green is easy to see. don't have time to find and move pin. still up in air about accuracy differs from phone app and cart yardages and a range finder. but easier to use than a range finder. but price was good using scheels rewards. but would prefer the touch screen if i could afford it.
