I bought this watch for the dive computer and functions. It is also a smart watch. GPS could be better and have a stronger signal. Maps take a while to update to current location. Watch is loaded with sports features, but they all have the same data. All these sports and the only features they have are timers, heart rate, it's all the same, over and over. Watch needs more layout, more clock appearances, more color choices. Flashlight is bright and gets the job done. Tac light was a very good choice. Only complaints are the GPS positioning takes too long to update and all the different sports have the same features and data.

I've taken my first trip with the new Mk3i and love it. I dove the Mk31 and Mk2i side by side, and the Mk3i is even easier to read. There was no noticeable difference in the two computer's dive management algorithms for the dive, so that awesome. The T1 and T2 transmitters were within 3 psi of each other from start to finish, so that too is awesome. That said, the Mk3i's T2 transmitter does emit a rather high pitch pulse every 10-12 seconds which isn't great, but whatever (as long as it doesn't scare-off the fish). I was able to pair with my buddy's new Mk3i/T2 setup for air monitoring and texting, and it works as expected. I really hope Garmin soon allows us to to make-up some of our own text messages/responses (using Connect I'm guessing) because the current stock ... Cons1 My PSI is just as important as my depth. The PSI font size is HORRIBLE. Large font is just bold basically. I do not wear or need glasses either. The person that designed the PSI font size and PSI display location only used this in a pool or the Carribian Islands. Never in limited/low visibility waters.2 Propriatary charging cable works great but super inconvenient. I am a scuba instructor so the biggest feature I need is obviously the dive computer. I teach diving to 330’ with rebreathers and helium. That being said I need to put my life on the line and the Garmin is my safety net. It has not do disappointed!The screen is perfect. The battery life is long so it doesn’t need constant recharging. And the apps bring it all together.I want to figure out how to keep the watch screen on all the time, maybe dimmed but visible. That’s probably me though and an instruction book.I would also like to lock the right side buttons so the watch doesn’t trip over to an app by accident.I can’t express how much I love the Descent series of watches/dive computers. I have upgraded from each one and they simply get better and better.

The MK3I is a great watch with all the functions it has and apps . I’m looking foward to using it with my bicycle Garmin products and the golf app. Onto the water, I bought this for the transponder and the big 51mm face to use for scuba diving, I’m new to the sport but know that when you spend a little more you won’t regret spending the money when you have a reliable integrated watch and transponder. I really like the POOL function that allows me to do some pool dives without it actually recording a Logged dive for logging a dive. It is an incredible watch but missing key features that makes me wonder why I just spent a fortune on a freediving watch that has no support for 50% of freediving activities1. No Static Or Dynamic Apnea mode. 1/2 of freediving/apnea occurs in the pool. There is no way to track my activities while I am doing these sports. There are some hacks that others use such as using the random activities for Static Apnea (I want constant O2 and pulse detection during static apnea, and I can't seem to get that). Dynamic Apnea has no support whatsoever since Garmin only tracks distance when you move your arms (something that most Dynamic Apnea disciplines don't do since we have fins). I ordered the galexy ultra watch when it came out and after waiting for ever for Android to make a ultra watch with a watch that was diver friendly i was super disappointed! So i gave that one to my mom and took a chance on the mk3i after watching a few reviews. There is not alot of information about this watch on features that are not dive related. But let me reassure you it does everything the other smart watches do. The notifications music controller... the only 2 things i have found that it lacks is the ability to call due to no microphone and it will not tell me my phones battery level. The other gripe i had is how hard it was to find bands for this. I wanted a nicer titanium band and only really found one..... overall inam happy with it and love being able to ... Initially the high price chased me off from the descent series, but then I realized they were actually a good deal compared to the cost of a technical dive computer and a topo GPS smartwatch. The 200m depth rating introduced in the mk3 series allows me to to use it on all my dives.The 43mm size works out great. Its small and light enough that I don't notice it's there, and it doesn't snag or get in the way. The screen is easy to read and has plenty of detail. I think the higher resolution and AMOLED display really help here.The watch is so full of features it's easier to describe what it doesn't do. I really like the new features such as dive & training readiness from the glances. As a dive watch, I am still getting used to it, and I will be comparing it to the larger Shearwater models (Peregrin & Perdix). I also dive normally in cold water, with drygloves and lose a good amount of dexterity. Screen is great & bright. The large number model is a really nice feature. I really like the pool move feature as well. The customization of fields is nice. Battery life is great as well.With the drygloves, I do find the larger buttons on the perdix / peregrin easier to trigger, ...
