Beware epoxy resin HR monitor causing allergy

I'm pretty bummed that I spent so much money on a watch that used such cheap and allergy inducing material for the HR monitor. It's the one spot that needs to touch your skin all the time, why on earth would Garmin cheap-out on this part of the watch?I can see from online forum posts that I am not the only person who developed an allergy to the epoxy resin on the back of the watch. Garmin is trying to deflect and say you need to wash the watch regularly, or maybe I used some weird chemicals like DEET. I wash the watch all the time, never used DEET, and only wore it for a few hours a day, max. At this point, the watch is totally unwearable. Both my wrists have huge red patches on them that are taking months to heal.I can't find any information on the HR monitor ... MoreI'm pretty bummed that I spent so much money on a watch that used such cheap and allergy inducing material for the HR monitor. I sure hope Garmin at least reads this feedback and consider switching to something like glass that won't cause an allergic reaction for their future models HR monitor.I now have a useless, unwearable watch that cost me $700 :(

The Garmin Fenix 6S Pro has about every function one needs to keep a track of fitness and wellbeing. It would suit both serious athletes and those simply wanting to make a start on their fitness journey. The watch looks great, although those with slimmer wrists may find it a little heavy on account of the stainless steel bezel and back plate. Surprisingly, the white silicon watch band doesn't tend to show dirt marks. Pairing the watch with the Garmin Connect App on my Apple Iphone was easy. The only reason I haven't given this watch 5 stars is because I found the instructions manual a little hard to follow / lacking in detail. For example, I had to find a YouTube video to work out how to download music to the watch. I bought the Garmin Fenix 6s as an upgrade to my Forerunner 245 music. The rose gold/white combo looks great and the watch has a ton of nice features. I have an iPhone and I still refuse to buy the Apple Watch. It's extremely overrated. Garmin has better fitness tracking and battery life. The only thing I wish the Fenix had would be an amoled display. The one it has still looks pretty good. The watch is comfortable but sometimes the band does leave indentations on your arm if you wear it too snugly. Other than this, I don't have any complaints.

Garmin Fenix 6S Pro Smartwatch
27 October 2022

Great all round smart watch. I brought it specifically for tracking my exercise as well as my sleep but it does so much more. I like that it’s not touch screen as I found my previous touch screen was easily bumped during exercise. I found the Garmin pay easy to use and a godsend when I went to the shops without my wallet. The selection of widgets are great and I was able to edit them to specific ones that suited me. I watched a few Utube videos to set up my music and change my watch face and they were easy to understand and informative. Definitely recommend this watch I’m very happy with it.

Generally good watch however develops severe issue
6 July 2023

Generally good watch however develops severe issues after about a year. The only thing I am not happy with is unfortunately a critical one. I got my first watch about 2 years ago and it suddenly did not turn on anymore after 1 year . I got a replacement under warrenty and after another year the battery power more or less suddenly decreases drastically. I now have to charge it every second day and i keeps decreasing. Extremely disappointing.

Great all-rounder
6 April 2022

Really happy I bought this. GPS is consistently accurate, and this was a major feature for me. It usually finds GPS within a few seconds, but ever so occasionally it can take up to 10 mins, just a reset does the trick I found. The more connected you keep it to the app, the better it functions. I bought it for running, but was super excited to realise it had all the golf features on it, very helpful on the course with yardages. I enjoy seeing body battery info, heart rate and overall status of training. Great watch, and fantastic features if you are planning long endurance events, with the route planner feature on the app. You can decide pacing strategies etc etc. I’m fairly new to this but looks good.

Great overall for mulitsports
16 January 2023

Just changed over from a fitbit to a Garmin, The Garmin defiantly has more features and the App works well. The Garmin pro doesn't have the sapphire glass and i already have a scratch on the glass so i would defiantly recommend the saphhire version.Watch fits well and is comfortable to wear all day long, without any skin irritation.I have found the heart rate to be more accurate when wearing very snuglyBattery life is horrible if using all the features, but turning off some does increase the battery lifeThe customizable faces are great but the colors aren't as bright as I expected (a bit pixelated)

Love the features

As a person who upgraded from a forerunner 245, I'm in love with all of the gadgets and who'shewhat's it's on this new watch. I like the different widgets. I like that you can custom the watch face. I really like the heart rate and pull socks. However sweaty and outside running the heart rate seems a little bit unreliable as you get going. But of course it is a wrist-based biometric not a chest strap so you got to take that into consideration. Overall though pretty good on the biometrics. I really like using this watch for walking, hiking, ellipticaling and all of the other upright activities I do. I do wish however there was a way that was simpler to hook a foot pod for cycling. I have a wahoo cadence monitor for my bike but I have not found a reliable distance and speed attachment for my bike that actually talks to the watch that thus can talk to the Garmin application. Overall though for charting of my activities seems to be great. One thing I would like down the road is get rid of the gold. I love the white. That's why I went with white. But the gold is something to be desired.

Nice Watch

Love my new watch!I thought the silicon band would be uncomfortable and because it was white would look gross very quickly. I have had my watch for a month now and the band has been easy to clean, doesn't scuff and because I am one of those unfortunate individuates that have very sensitive skin, I have had to clean the watch daily... so I guess I have no idea how easily dirt shows but its easy to clean and has no scuffs so far. The other thing I do to help is put moisturizer on my writs every time I get the chance and before I go to bed. Cleaning the watch wasn't enough for me.Skin sensitivity aside, some things I wish that could be better:1. The move indicator is not 'buzzy' enough, to easy to ignore. Cleaning the watch wasn't enough for me.Skin sensitivity aside, some things I wish that could be better:1. The move indicator is not 'buzzy' enough, to easy to ignore. This is what really dissipation me the most on this watch, I have had other garmins that were better. I switched to fitBit after a software update bricked my device, as FitBit is known to do, and came back to Garmin because I remembered liking the move notification better.Issues that are software related and probably apply to many of garmin's products:1. Sleep mode can't be turned on or off, it is supposed to automatically detect when your sleeping. The softer ware also has a 'sleep' power mode that automatically kicks in at a certain time but the sleep detection seams to work better if you happen to go to bed when you told the software when you were going to bed. So if you decide to take an afternoon nap the watch might not record it.2. Separate power modes: You can't choose different power modes unless your in an 'activity' that allows you to choose your mode. So if your night time power save mode turns off blueTooth, and altimeter but your running low on power during the day and want to save battery by turning off all the gadgets besides BlueTooth, then good luck.3. IQ: activity detection- I have only had this pick up activity once in the whole time I have owned it, and its super sad as I used to own a VivioSmart that could tell if I was biking or jogging and it would automatically start recording those activities. It wasn't perfect but was so much better then the current software. This was part of the reason I got this watch. I have started biking many times and not had the IQ software pick up the activity so that is the reason for the rating.Overall I like the watch and am glad I bought it but it isn't really worth the full price IMO.

I previously had a forerunner and was able to make it work for me really well. Unfortunately it died. After a year or so I finally got the fenix 6s, and thus far its been great. I'm still working on customizing it to my liking, but it's easy to work with. I think the garmin connect updates have all been steps in a positive direction. And the additional features of the watch are pretty fun for a data nerd like myself. It pairs well with my sleep app and makes it easy to track and log my daily 'health' in a variety of ways. I'd like to see a few more garmin connect updates, particularly related to generating a functional training log for athletes/coaches to analyze. But not many workout apps I've tried do a good job on that front. In any case, I'm impressed. Battery life has been excellent. The wrist HR monitor is about like any other watch, not really reliable, particularly for exercise. But I don't knock the product for that. If you want that data it's pretty much an absolute necessity to have a chest strap of some kind. The price is a bit steep, but hopefully it will continue to last and make it worth the purchase.
