Upgrading from a 735xt... I checked out a lot of pofessional reviews and YouTube videos before feelng comfortable making the change, and I haven't been let down! Battery life on the 735xt was excellent and the 945 is the same. I haven't used the amazing in-built maps feature out and about yet, but it's there and functional so impressed there. My main reason for upgrading was to access bluetooth music capabilities not present on the 735xt and the 945 doesn't disappoint here; plenty enough GB space, connects fast to the Jabra Elite Active 7s I use and it's not a massive hassle to download music from your phone Spotify to your Spotify on the watch (after downloading the Spotify app for the watch via Garmin Connect app). Overall very satisfying watch and will be lasting for years.

So paying the discounted price of $525 for the Forerunner 945 LTE, vs $999 for the new Fenix 7, was a no brainer for me. I’ll be replacing this watch, like all my previous Garmins, in 2 years. It’s always nice having the latest and greatest, but in all honesty, the Forerunner 945 LTE gives me everything that I need, and delivers far greater value for money.

The watch was great for the first year. It tracked all kinds of activities from SUP to skiing. I really liked the interaction with my smart phone and the battery life was pretty long. It also charges super fast back to full so it was easy to keep powered, you could even top it off in the car charger on the way to the trailhead if you needed. This watch is very lightweight and is not noticeable while running or other activities, but I can definitely tell when I am not wearing it. The display has all of the metrics I need to see at a glance during the workday and gets very detailed during a workout. LTE live tracking has been great in area with known cell reception. Backcountry excursions are unable to be live tracked since there is no cell reception there, but that is not a surprise. Screen resolution is good for simple shapes and colors, but photos used a backgrounds reveal low resolution similar to first gen colored flip phones. After a couple troubleshooting phone calls, Garmin replaced it.The replacement watch has been solid. Everything works. I was extremely happy with my 935, but after several years the battery didn't last anywhere near as long as it used to. This went on sale for half price so I just went for it. It's much more user friendly and the interface is much more intuitive. The functions within some of the activities are much better - the strength training one is quite different the to 935 and I much prefer this one.Overall I'm very happy. It even came with an extra loop for the band! Something that always breaks after a year or so are the loops on the bands. So a huge thumbs up to Garmin for including an extra one for when it inevitably breaks.
I had the 945 first, but upgraded to the LTE version, excited about the possibilities of not having to download playlists. I suppose it's my fault, I listened to a faulty you tube video stating the abilities of streaming spotify. for nearly 100$ a year the service attributes are not at all worth it to me- someone who has no need of showing off my running or MTB live track. I guess the safety feature is a good sell, but not worth that large price tag. no thanks. I shouldve just stuck with the O.G. 945 for the extra $ tag. I do like how it's a little smaller with same display size, helpful for sleeping. I used to track sleep with my 5x, so I can appreciate the smaller watch size.
