Garmin HRM - Swim
The optimized heart rate monitor from the Garmin HRM-Swim range of optional sensors is Garmin's very first heart rate monitor designed for use (pulse detection and recording) during swimming. Compatible with Forerunner 920XT/ 735XT/ 935 series devices, phoenix 3/5/5S/5X (PLUS), quatix 3/5, tactix. The manufacturer has redesigned it so that it can be used reliably even while swimming, which is impossible with a conventional heart rate monitor. The design and materials used for the expansion part (chest belt) feature a special anti-slip surface, guaranteeing maximum adherence to the skin, even while swimming. Thanks to the new heart rate monitor, you can unify pulse measurement and recording not only during running and cycling, but also during swimming (in indoor pools or open water). During swimming, it "stores" pulse measurements in the built-in memory (20 hours of recording), where they are ready for instant synchronization with a compatible watch as soon as you surface or after your workout is over.

Works exactly as expected. If you want a detailed review you should check out DC Rainmaker's extremely detailed reviews. One thing to note - when changing the battery be careful to gently and gradually tighten screws to ensure a good water seal. Adding silicone grease around the oring/gasket will increase the chances that your device will keep working after a battery change.

The manager Jennifer went above and beyond to find the correct product that would meet my needs. She was very knowledgeable about the Garmin Forerunner 735xt. Because I was looking for a monitor to track my swimming she also recommended the HRM swim belt. These products have met all the needs I wanted addressed.I have made copies of Heartratemonitorusa's website and have passed it out to the many individuals I regulate and or train with. This is the ONLY place I would recommend purchasing any heart rating equipment . Again I wish to thank Jennifer for taking the time and energy for fulfilling what I needed.

It's perfect for tracking my biometrics during my swims. Tried using the Garmin HRM-pro, but it moves around especially during turns. Garmin makes quality stuff.

It is not an essential product but it serves as an extra motivation for training by providing metrics such as average HR, max., Or percentages. More comfortable than it might seem, it fits well and does not bother much, it is not uncomfortable or causes chafing. The only downside is that with long runs it tends to loosen and turn slightly, but still it does not bother, and the surprising thing is that it still does not get off or fall in strong turns although this somewhat low and the feeling that it will fall. Difficult to adjust once set, but even if it slips or loosen it still works correctly. With fenix 5 you can customize FC data screen and between series or blocks you can see all interval metrics, totals, percentages, time in current zones and FC, but sensor ... If you win a lot and value HRM data fr the pool or open water, this product stores data and uploads it to your Garmin watch when both watch and HRM are out of theatre - or when you save the workout when you are done. Works great when wearing a Ari-suit and lasts longer than a normal HRM in terms of degregation from harsh pool chemicals or sea water. The strap also stretches less. If you swim a lot, product is worth it.
This may be a good heart rate monitor if you have excessive time and money to waste. The first problem it is not made clear prior to the purchase that OTHER devices are required to operate a device that is almost 100 dollars! When you purchase a speciality heart rate monitor it must be able to operate to start, stop and download the information on the device on its own. The barriers to operate this device are too high. Sports enthusiasts that have used several heart rate monitors and wearable devices advised to return this device.
it does not appear in the Garmon connect app and it does not seem to have Bluetooth to connect, even though the description says that it can connect with a phone. Also, the overall fit is awkward and neither of the extension straps would fit.
Six months ago I bought a Garmin Swim 2 watch for both pool and ocean swimming. The reviews said the watch's wrist HR monitor was much improved and really accurate. It wasn't and gave unrealistically high maximum HR data and rates of change that were simply not credible. So, I purchased a HRM-Swim monitor and, boy, what a difference. The data seems intuitively correct and the maximum HR is where it should be and there is much less variability (noise) in the data. Its also really easy to use with my Garmin Swim 2 watch. I plan to use the HRM-Swim to help me improve my swim times and I'm confident it will be of assistance. I used the shortest extension strap and, by trial-and-error, found that the best way to fit the strap was to have it really tight and only then ... I used the shortest extension strap and, by trial-and-error, found that the best way to fit the strap was to have it really tight and only then would it not slip down when pushing off the wall. And don't forget the HRM-Swim can't communicate with a Garmin watch unless both are out of the water. So you need to be standing up with your chest out of the water to 'switch on' the HRM-Swim and also to download the data to your watch when saving at the end of your swim session.
Got this to replace a similar Garmin HRM promoted for triathletes. Was supposed to be usable run, bike, and swim. But strap deteriorated from pool use after about a year, despite proper care. Material of this strap should hold up better for swimming, but don't count on it staying in place, as advertised, without compressive swim top , or women's one piece suit over it.
The regular Garmin strap is significantly more comfortable. This has a small elastic area which isnt enough to accommodate my movement. I am using this for my bike, and I know this is their waterproof version. I will be switching back to the other version.
