Garmin Speed Sensor 2 and Cadence Sensor 2 Bundle

I got these to use my roadie on an old Tacx Satori T1850 mag trainer with no smarts. The sensors easily paired with my Android mobile and are visible in various apps. The Garmin Connect app only seems to log the history data stored on the sensors, but there's no option to record a trainer ride. However the Wahoo Fitness app works great (thinking I have a KICKR) it then syncs to Strava & Google Fit when I finish a session. The Tacx app also seems to work and gives an estimated power output if I manually tell it what resistance level I am running. I haven't tried with Zwift but it should be fine too. Overall very happy with this sensor kit & online purchase from 99bikes was hassle free.

(Dead) battery included

At first I was puzzled by why I couldn't get the green LED to light up, after reinstalling the battery couple of times I decided to test it with a tester... mystery solved! turned out the good looking Maxell battery included was already dead on arrival, fortunately I had some spares laying around and was able to get the sensor to work in no time. Pairing with my Instinct was quick and straight forward highly recommended.

Disappointed

I bought these for indoor training with rollers and was really disappointed.If you don’t own a Garmin computer, these sensors don’t serve much purpose. The Garmin connect app has very limited functionality. The cadence sensor doesn’t connect by design (Huh?).The speed sensor connects but is very unreliable.The first session only recorded the length of time, no speed or distance data. The time of day was off by a several hours as well for some reason.I spent a few hours testing various devices and fitness apps. Does the job! Easy installation (10mins)

Easy to connect to Garmin connect app (only the Spd sensor). Really easy to connect to Vivoactive 3M, 30 seconds top. Works very well with Wahoo app, even easier to connect to! Works with Zwift, connection is a little slow but once it's connected it's fine!My Cadence sensor was shipped with a dead battery?!?! Luckily I had a couple spare CR2032 at home, being stuck in quarantine...Feels really secure to the bike.Cool stuff I learned and tried:-Zwift does sync with Garmin Connect.-You can see data from Wahoo app (acting as bike computer) and Garmin watch simultaneously.Would get 5/5 if:-Garmin connect had a live feed option. The issue here is if you don't manually start an activity an let the watch recognize any activity, it will only get the speed sensor's information and not the cadence. To get cadence data on Garmin Connect, you MUST start a manual activity.

Excellent -Garmin Bike Speed and Cadence Sensor 2

Well reviewed sensor set -Sigma had the best price on the web and arrived quickly, so great service Sigma . Bought them to use with an old carrera road bike on a 'dumb' elite chronos elastogel trainer to improve my fitness and lose weight over winter.The trick with the sensors is to find the right software to pair them with, Trialed Cyclemeter - whilst paired the data screens were very clunky. Then used Wahoo connect a free app that worked well but gave limnite doptions. Have started the Wahoo Systm Trial and this picks up the sensors and uses the speed sensor as a virualpower meter so impressed with the product.

Garmin vs. WAHOO

The cadence sensor is spot on. The speed sensor is subpar. This past weekend was the 1st time using both of the sensors on a 42 mile ride. While on flat surfaces, the speed appeared to maintain the correct speed. However, when going down hill the speed would read 17-20 mph but when I hit a small bump in the road the speed would drop to 8-10 mph for a few seconds and then jump back to the correct speed. I checked the Garmin website for corrective action and the common response was to remove the battery and replace it with a new one. The two that I have are brand new, out of the box. I should not have to replace the battery. Garmin needs to produce a better product that will maintain accurate speeds. Pros: Very easy install. Easy pairing. No tools necessary. Can install straight out of the box, as batteries are preinstalled and ready to go. Good online support at Garmin and YouTube. Works with Ant and Bluetooth. Not a bad price for what you get.Received this in the mail a couple days ago. I had a night ride planned. I opened the box about an hour before dark, and 15 minutes later I had everything installed, paired and ready to go. I paired it to my Garmin Vivoactive 4. Amazing how well this works. I also enjoyed the fact that there is no "zip ties" involved. The install is much more like installing the Garmin cycling computers to your handlebars. Here is the biggest and best notable differences:1. Old sensors were strapped on via zip ties. What a hassle!2. No more adjusting necessary. Sensors work every time after install, without adjusting to a magnet.3. Easy install. No tools or zip ties needed. Batteries preinstalled and ready to go, out of the box.4. Paired to my Garmin Vivoactive 4 without a hitch. Very cool. My Vivoactive displays both sensors.5. Sensors start automatically when ride begins. Sensors are in sleep mode until ride starts.6. Sensor setup has auto wheel sizing. Just plug in the wheel size numbers. (700x28 is mine) Easy. Wheel axle sensor can be installed and used on front or rear wheel axle. Just remember to make sure it is installed on the rear wheel axle if you ride a trainer inside your house, like I do.7. With the exception of having to change the batteries at some point, no maintenance necessary.8. Can be used on Mountain Bikes if you choose.9. Works terrific for my trainer I ride in my living room. Make sure wheel sensor is on the rear axle, or you won't get a reading.To sum this up, Garmin has taken the Speed Cadence Sensor setup to a whole new level. I really enjoy their new setup. It's just seems too hit or miss to recommend to anyone

The cadence sensor worked for about 3 or 4 months then I noticed at the start of a recent ride that the cadence field on my head unit was blank. I stopped and popped off the battery cover (you know, like pulling over and looking under the hood: it's not going to do anything but there's not much else you can do) then put it back on. Something connected because I had cadence for the remainder of my ride. Next ride: no cadence again.Switched out battery and no lights. After messing around was able to get it to light up, but it will not remain active. I always cite user error because, well, people are people, but in this case it is, without question, defective.There are very similar accounts all over the net. Useful tool and convenient design

I have been using the original combined speed/cadence sensor on my road bike for many years and decided to use just the speed sensor 2 on my gravel bike. As I have used my gravel bike more and more for winter road training as well, I started to miss having the cadence measurement. I love the way the speed and cadence sensors have been separated and no longer require alignment with separate magnets. This unit does its job and is simple to install and set up. At the moment, I don’t have the need to transfer it between bikes, but if/when the needs arises, it will be easy to do.

Works great, easy to pair

I bought these to pair with a Wahoo Elemnt Roam head unit. Pairing was easy and they have been working well so far. There have been a few times during rides when I look at the cadence on the bike computer and it seems to have dropped the signal for very brief periods (10 sec or less). But when I analyze the data afterward, it looks fine. I like that the sensors are easily de/attached by sturdy bands, making it easy to swap to another bike. This is one big reason I did not get the Wahoo speed/cadence sensors which attach via zip tie.
