Good Budget-Friendly Watch

This is a solid, budget-friendly starter watch. The orchid color is unique and subtle. The touch screen is a bit finicky, however, which is my main reason for giving the watch 3 stars. It can take a moment to respond to my touch. The sleep and fitness trackers are also not accurate as they tend to overestimate my movement. My final complaint is the Connect ID app store with very basic apps and customizations. Despite the above cons, the watch does do what I need it to do: show notifications from my phone when I am unable to look at it, reply to texts, check my calendar, and track my steps. There are also many band options out there which is a plus for those who want to customize that. So I decided to take a chance.I have only owned my Venu Sq2 for about a month and could not be more excited about it. I love the versatility in deciding what data is important to me, and displaying those only. I love the swipe feature, making the data immediately accessible. I have downloaded a new watch face from the Garmin Connect app that was customizable to my interests. The only thing I might miss in this watch is its lack of altimeter. Money grab

I was extremely disappointed that garmin sends me to a youtube video for instructions. This is a blatant money grab as i have to endure advertisements that garmin get paid for and that have zero to do with the garmin product that i paid for.The honest way to give instructions is to provide the video up front like all trustworthy companies and not take us to a site where we have to endure advertisements that have nothing to do with the oroduct we have purchased in good faith, and garmin gets paid for. Please give the instuction video a thumbs down rating on youtube, as honest companies do not do this. This is a low life money grab and it makes me wonder what else garmin will do without our consent. No matter how interesting or helpful you find such videos, we ... MoreI was extremely disappointed that garmin sends me to a youtube video for instructions. No matter how interesting or helpful you find such videos, we as consumers should name and shame such crooked money grabbing practices.Good decent companies do not make customers endure random advertising or any sort of advertising period when all the require is instruction for the product they purchased.Heck I had not even used the garmin wwatch i had purchased and they were holding it to ransom, by making me watch advertisements that they get paid for, and i pay data for, before i could access the instuctions to the product they sold me.Now that is wrong and should be addressed. Please make this known. If garmin take these liberties before we get started, what ither liberties are we being violated for? This is not my first garmin watch, but it is the last. There are plenty if companies producing similar products that compare or better the price of this watch.I thought garmin to be an inovator with thier earlier training watches but now I no longer blindly trust their product.I go in very wary and so should you.Go into their privacy agreement, just in case.It is a terrible start by making us watch the ads they get paid for... what other low life acts will they do with our info?

Nice with all the bells and whistles I need

Why the new watch: I do beat up my watches. I had to replace my Forerunner 35 twice, first because the buttons stopped working, secondly because the glass sits higher than the rim of the watch case. I do a lot of manual work and although I had a glass protector, the glass slowly got chipped on the sides until I couldn't read anything. Unfortunately, the design is the same on this Venu Sq. Why?! I managed to buy a big rubber transparent cover for it, that snaps over the watch. Should help. See pictures. You can easily access the buttons and I hardly notice it.What I also don't like is, that to save battery (I get it), the display switches off. I'm hoping that there's a way to turn that off but I haven't had the time to check it out.Otherwise, I like that I can ... MoreWhy the new watch: I do beat up my watches. I track all my walks and hikes (maps) and this is wonderful. I do like the option to chose activity type since I bike sometimes. I've also been trying to keep my HR low and this helps me track it without logging on. I appreciate the reasonable price on this one and it still has so many great features that I can access with Connect. I would recommend this watch. Please consider making an S model for us with tiny wrists for when I will have to replace this one :)

I've had a VivoActive HR for 7-8 years - loved it. The battery stopped charging so decided it was time to "upgrade" to a model that had more features. Not happy with the Venue Sq for several reasons - the most important is that it STOPS tracking my activity (biking, walking, hiking, etc) sometime during the training period. The screen just reverts to the time and no indication that it had started or stopped a training session. I makr sure the watch is fully charged. Other features I don't like: (1) power cord is one of a kind so you can't simply use a common micro USB cord, (2) the clock & date display do not stay on like it did with the Vivo Active HR; (3) read out of data - not as easy to find or interpret.Wish newer models were IMPROVEMENTS on older models, but ... MoreI've had a VivoActive HR for 7-8 years - loved it. Pretty good watch
16 January 2023

I bought two of these - one for my wife and one for me - for a Christmas present. They are very nice watches with lots of features customization available. For all the things they measure, some seem to be pretty good and some are definitely off. the step counter seems to be fairly accurate, but may overcount a little bit because sitting at my desk working I can still rack up a few hundred "steps". The heart rate counter matches my manual count every time I have counted. I have not used the activity tracking very much, but it seems to be pretty accurate in terms of timing and distance. But the pulse oxygen measure is definitely off. It is consistently lower than a dedicated meter on the fingertip, and if the results were accurate, I would be dead by now. The sleep monitor gets a reading, and I don't have any other measure, but this bears little resemblance to how I actually slept for the night. The stress meter also bears little correlation to how stressed I'm feeling at any given time. So, my conclusion is that this watch is fine for basic measurements of my attempts at getting fit, but the more advanced tracking features just cannot be trusted.

This device is, by far, the worst fitness tracker that I have owned. The heart rate tracking is terribly inconsistent and highly inaccurate when tracking workouts. I followed all of the tips in the support channels to improve the accuracy. but the performance did not improve. I then had three (3) conversations with tech support. For the first two (2),l I made the software update and hard reset as they suggested. I then tracked workouts for which I already had a baseline to know what the heart rate range should be. Again, the Garmin device was inconsistent and inaccurate. It even measured the same workout routine with vastly different heart rates (for greater discrepancy than could be attributed to normal variations). This particular agent apparently had no other technical solutions and, instead, began to try to analyze my data to convince me that I didn't understand the data. I explained to him that I have years of data with these same exercise routines with various trackers. The results have been consistent from device to device until I made the mistake of buying the Garmin. His only suggestion was to buy a chest strap in an attempt to make this inferior device measure up to what my other devices have done without the need for an add on monitor. I could not be more disappointed.

UNSTAISFIED CUSTOMER

I bought a Garmin Venu SQ for my husband and myself for Valentine's Day 2023.I have had mine for less than a month and my screen cracked. It was not dropped. I may have bumped it, but it should not have cracked the way it did. These are expensive and so I contacted Garmin Support and I was told right away that there was nothing that could be done. I find this unacceptable as this could have been a manufacturer issue and then one bump and it's cracked to the point I can't use it. The customer service rep i chatted with was unhelpful and rude and flat-out said Garmin doesn't help with these issues. Again, I spent a lot of money on this item, and for it to crack like this after less than a month, is unacceptable. I will tell my family and friends to never purchase ... MoreI bought a Garmin Venu SQ for my husband and myself for Valentine's Day 2023.I have had mine for less than a month and my screen cracked.
