This is a case of me not reviewing the specs and reviews super carefully before I purchased - I currently have a Vivosmart 4 and bought the Vivofit 4 as the Vivosmart 4 had no ability to change the strap which was worn through. The Vivofit 4 has a replaceable strap and doesnt require charging as it has a replaceable battery, which I like. However, the Vivofit 4 doesnt have a heart rate monitor and thats one of the main reasons I use a fitness tracker. Maybe this is a result of having too broad a product range it's easy for dummies like me to get confused between the different models with similar names. Gutted. I'd give it one star as it's useless to me and i'm going to have to purchase another product now, but again, it's my own fault so giving it 2.

I wear the Vivofit 4 24/7 and the Samsung most days (when I remember to put it on). The Vivofit 4 I find to be more of a motivator since it's only job is to track steps and calories, as well as being a handy always-on watch. I will say, the display is small and hard to see depending on the light it's in, but it has a backlight (some reviews say there is no backlight but yes, there IS a backlight). Just push the button to 'light it up'. I really enjoy using the Vivofit 4 and will always want one as I don't have to worry about charging it or even wearing it to the beach or while cleaning. It's not 'fancy' like a smartwatch, but it's a fitness tracker pure and simple, easy to use. Hope this review was helpful!

It is comfortable to wear & provides enough info for my needs. I think the color of the watch face was better before. The background was dark & the numbers were lighter so I find that the time was easier to see than it is now. The new home screen took a little while to get used to but I like the idea that we can customize it to the way we prefer.I would buy it again. Thank you!

Decent, it's a bit hard to see the screen, but I understand that's to extend the battery life, so worth it to not have to recharge it. Had some issues syncing it by bluetooth initially. Other than that it's been great, hardly notice it's on and keeps count with enough accuracy that I'm satisfied and I tested many different ways of walking. I'd buy it again, but hopefully it doesn't break within the first few years.

I have had approximately twenty of these watches/fitness-trackers in the last three years and they have always failed within months if not weeks. The main reason is the poor quality of the workmanship. The casing that hold the watch/fitness-tracker and battery is made of plastic and held together by four small screws. The casing always cracks around the screws, even before the battery--which is suppose to last for one year--has to be changed. I had a viofit 3 for many many years. Only changed the battery twice. It was time for a new battery so I decided to buy a Viofit 4.reasonable price and it provides me the information I need. Time...steps...date...distance and daily temperature. It pairs with Garmin Connect which is giving me more info than with the 3.Only con is the wristband. It's too stiff. I liked the softer one on the 3.
The vivofit 4 can sometimes count steps, but it assumes they are very small. I’ve reset the defaults to my actual stride lengths for walking and running and it hasn’t improved a bit: if I walk 1500m, it reads under 600. I ran 16.1 kilometres this morning, at a pace of 5:12/km, and ran it continuously in just over 83 minutes. My vivofit informs me that it was 6 km that took me about 50 minutes. It didn’t give me that I was walking in those missing 34+minutes either, though, bizarrely, the total step count is about right.So my 16.7km workout still took 16,000+ strides (my running stride is over 1m), but registered as 6.6km — less than 40cm a step.It misses an astonishing amount of activity: it gave me a red “get moving” alert while I was running a set of steps, and ... MoreThe vivofit 4 can sometimes count steps, but it assumes they are very small. I have had this watch/tracker less than 2 years. The battery died in the watch within 9 months. Garmin sent me new batteries. Those batteries failed within 5 months. I went and bought new batteries. They only lasted 2 months. It's not only frustrating that I keep spending money on a device that works some of the time but that when it just decides to die I don't have anyway to keep track of my steps for days!!! In between this problem, it has randomly not kept track of my steps and I have to reset the watch over.
Love my Garmin fitness tracker. Did so much research to find out that takes a normal battery as I would never remember to charge & if I did I would never remember to put back on again. Turns out there are not many at all that don’t require regular charging. With a standard watch battery this should last me between 7 mths to a year apparently? So good to be able to see how many steps I’m getting in each day as being female I don’t have my phone on me most of the time, and especially at work. I now also have the date & time with me without the need to check my phone. Highly recommend… so far so great!!

But what I really like about Vivofit 4 is - * I was able to continue with the same Connect app, and kept all my historical data automatically (after re-sync a couple times). * I wear it 24/7 as my watch (like my V2) and the display is clear and easy to read at a glance. * I don't have to remember to remove it, or put it back on. Waterproof in sink, bath and shower (and probably swimming pool). * I don't have to remember to charge it. The only minor drawback, to me, is I would have liked it to be able to pair with the HR strap. To be fair, I hardly ever actually used that facility, and I can always recommission my Vivofit 2 if I felt I wanted the HR aspect for a particular period or activity.
