After fiddling around for a couple of years using iPhone nav apps on my moto, I made the jump to a dedicated navigation device with the Zumo XT. I've been a Garmin user for years with eTrex, Montana and InReach handheld devices all performing well. Our work trucks have had Zumos for a year or so and they work brilliantly. Most of my riding is backroads and gravel track adventure-touring, so the detailed preloaded topo maps are great for this. Battery life and mobile data concerns of the phone based apps are now obsolete and my phone goes into flight mode safely in a pocket until I need it. The supplied ball mount is okay to get started but I imagine most riders will choose a dedicated mount for their needs and bike from another supplier. It's easy to learn how to ... The level of track detail is great, viewable right down to some of the single tracks and mountainbike trails in my area. I'm more confident in trying new tracks and roads now, as I can see where they should lead to/link up. There has only been one that was blocked by a tree down, which I certainly can't blame Garmin for! I would highly recommend the XT for adventurous riders.

Integrates well with the Tread app, and you can import and manage maps with ease. Display bright and easy to navigate, even with gloves. It has many features, not all of which will be useful...and one dealbreaker, which led to me returning mine. The system regularly displays Tripadvisor recommendations which take up about 1/3 of screen and must be X'd out manually. This is distracting and dangerous while riding! According to Garmin, this is a known complaint (Product Support Case #432668), but because of their Tripadvisor partnership, CANNOT be turned off or opted out of.

I received my Garmin zumo XT2 a couple weeks ago and took my first trip this past weekend. The instructions that came with the unit were "okay" but not great when it comes to knowing how to operate it. I was able to easily mount the unit and secure the power source. Regarding the unit operation, I did find good tutorials on YouTube and that really helped. I am totally impressed with the screen brightness especially in bright sun. Absolutely no issue clearly seeing the unit and even manipulating the buttons while in route with my gloves on. Since my initial trip and the YouTube tutorials I have been able to set up two new routes I plan to take in the coming weeks. All in all, a great unit and does exactly as advertised!! I highly recommend this unit!
I replaced a 7 year old TomTom 400 (purchased from JA Melbourne) that I thought was pretty good but was starting to have issues. How wrong was I! The Zumo XT has blown my mind with how good it is and how customisable the user interface is so I can see exactly what I want to see when to want to see it. Using the XT has been a pleasure so far. I have tested it by deliberately deviating from planned routes and it simply takes it in its stride, recalculates and gets on with things. None of this endless "when it is safe do a U turn" like some other GPS. The motorcycle mounting bracket looks lightweight but holds on with no issues on badly corrugated dirt roads no problem. I have put several GB of music on a SD card and play it through the basic but effective included ... I have put several GB of music on a SD card and play it through the basic but effective included music app. The audio DAC in the XT is very good and has transformed my Sena 20S coms unit from just background noise to music I can actually listen to while riding. I think I effectively got a free comms upgrade with the Zumo XT. There are a couple of downsides though all Garmin documentation related. Garmin do not tell you this is an Android device and will not natively mount to a Mac desktop. If you use a Mac and want to transfer GPX files or Music directly to the XT you will need to install Android File Transfer (free). Garmin also do not tell you that music on the SD card cannot be accessed unless it is in a directory on the card called music. Overall a huge thumbs up from me and also for Michael at JA Melbourne who has never once been anything other than 100% helpful and accurate.

I found I could use my Zumo XT2 with an existing XT1 (5V) mount but not vice versa as they (1) are not physically compatible and (2) there is no no 5V connection of course.Like the Zumo XT1, battery life is impressive which is very handy when you need to work on next day's route planning eg in your motel/hotel/cabin/tent.Group Ride function - which enables you see location of fellow riders - should be really useful once there is bigger population of XT2s in your pond.Interesting to note that XT2 uses 3 satellite systems: GPS (US), Galileo (EU) and BeiDou (China) for improved acquisition time.

Installed on an older adventure bike and paired to my phone and Bluetooth headset (Sena 20s). Do your research online when trying to pair devices. I can see why some have problems - so try not to get frustrated. The brightness is fantastic and the speed is great. I will use the campground finding features and really like the different routing modes - fastest, adventure, etc...The Tread might be better for those of you looking to do more off road or forest roads as I have read this isn't quite as detailed map wise.I feel like the XT2 is an upgrade to the XT for those of us doing 70% highways to get to the 30% dirt, off road, trails that we seek out.
