Best hair dye I’ve ever used!

I found this hair dye on here and tried to find it in a shop to see the colour, in the end I decided, after reading the reviews to just buy it and see what it was like, and I am so so happy I did!The colour is absolutely stunning. It has golden tones, ash tones, red tones and even cool tones. As someone who is very fair skinned, I was worried this would make me look very washed out but because of the multi tones it doesn’t!And the shine is incredible! I have been trying to get my hair as glossy as the celebs for a while and this really has done the job! I will be purchasing more boxes. Please do not discontinue this product! X

I adore the colour result of this Garnier Olia 5.0 Brown hair dye. My hair has been coloured for many years, all shades of colours but I mainly colour it a medium brown. This shade is my favourite, a neutral mid brown, no unnatural red or cherry tones, just brown. It is a tad dark when first done, however I like it because I find, along with all other permanent box dyes, it fades after a few weeks, washes up to a warmer lighter brown.I have yet to find a permanent box dye that doesn’t do this. I use colour-safe shampoos etc but the colour still washes up after a bit.My roots, I have a few greys, not many but have stubborn naturally light coppery brown hair & they can be quite stubborn to dye, this does cover them.I do like the feel of my hair after, it feels ... MoreI adore the colour result of this Garnier Olia 5.0 Brown hair dye. Good but with caveats
14 March 2023

I coloured my hair a couple of days ago (having not used this brand before) and I was disappointed with the red/orange tone it brought out in my hair. Strictly speaking, I should probably have used something with an ash tone to avoid this but since I had it, I decided to use it. While I considered putting another colour on top or using a colour remover, I decided to use a Glaze treatment to see if I could “correct” the colour. It’s generally accepted that the colour you get it not necessarily the same as the colour on the box but using the Glaze colour conditioner (honey blonde) has absolutely been a winner in making this the colour I wanted without the red/orange tone. Hopefully this will help someone else in the event they find the same problem. My hair is naturally really dark brown but has been bleached heavily to get platinum so very damaged. I used this dye over faded dark red brown and I’m in love. It’s more red than my previous red which I adore because I didn’t think it would be vivid like the box said. It definitely is. Colour payoff is excellent. Easy to use, instructions were straight forward. The smell is really nice I think the conditioner you get with it is the smell that stays in the hair and it smells like a standard nice conditioner. The red dripage from washing it did get everywhere but it washes off with water. Took longer to wash out than to apply. Ignore the rinse out instructions just cold water shampoo twice then use conditioner. Try to wash your hair once or twice a week no more so that you won’t need to dye it as much. My hair is so soft it’s still somewhat dry but that’s because it was bleached a couple months ago. The only transfer I’ve had was on my towel when drying it but haven’t had any more transfer so far so I think I’m safe on that. I used two boxes on waist length hair, one on roots other one on mids and ends.

Most moisturizing hair dye

I love this dye! After having my hair blonde for the longest time, I was ready to go back to my roots. My hair was dry and brittle from all the processing, especially after trying to go brown with a harsher product that ended up drying out my hair even more. Olia helped my hair do a 180 returning the shine and moisture back. When it comes to the shade, it's on point. My roots are naturally dark tho, so results may vary depending on your color. This might not be the best shade to go with if you're platinum blonde and need a stronger formula or more pigmented shade per say. I wasn't impressed with the quality of the packaging, which is the reason I'm not giving this product 5 stars. However, the results exceeded my expectations. I wasn't impressed with the quality of the packaging, which is the reason I'm not giving this product 5 stars. However, the results exceeded my expectations. You can definitely tell the formula is oil infused, which tends to have a more gentle and liquidly texture that facilitates the application process, especially on long and/or brittle hair. I'd definitely recommend this product to those who are looking to restore their hair after a series of dyes; this is rly the best route to go. I did see some comments about people complaining about the formula being too runny and oily, but then again that is the catch of this product and how it's been advertised. So it might not be for everyone, but if you're looking for something to bring the moisture back while giving you a fresh natural shade, you won't be disappointed.

Natural, beautiful colour. Imperfect grey coverage
3 October 2022

I placed this colour on my heavily dyed hair, and it came out like the colour on the box - that doesn’t always happen with previously dyed hair. The colour is very natural and flattering. It initially looked like it had covered my grey well, but one week later, some grey was quite noticeable at the temple area: this is a permanent hair dye, so that was a bit annoying. I then dyed the temple on its own again, and the hair looks good again - on my hair, there isn’t any real difference, despite one area having been dyed twice with this colour. I am so bored with searching for a dye that covers grey, that for now I will stick with this brand, and touch up grey areas when needed.

Nice colour but poor coverage
8 August 2022

I bought this after being blonde for 2 years. Wanted something dark almost black but with more tones in then black. I knew there may be some faults as my hair was platinum and damaged and not filled so some of the results I was expecting. My roots where the least damage was the colour took really well and was a nice deep colour with different tones and not too reddish which I didn't want. The damaged ends didn't take too well but I was expecting this. I have thin medium length hair and usually can get away with 1 box when dying my hair but had to use the 2 I bought and buy a further box the next day. Overall I don't think the product is too bad although coverage was a problem. Hair soft afterwards and the conditioner was nicer too.

Pros:(1) No ammonia, smells quite nice.(2) Easy to prepare and apply.(3) Didn't drip.(4) The colour, of the amount that did take, was lovely.Cons:(1) My hair is very fine, and usually very soft and supple, but as I was washing out the dye, my hair absolutely awful. It felt literally like straw, and was badly tangled. It took me quite a while, and a LOT of de-tangle product to eventually get the tangles out. Although I had been very gentle and careful, I was extremely concerned at the amount of hair that was left in the comb afterwards. This is not usual.(2) I am petite, and have quite small hands, but even I struggled to get the gloves on, and getting them off, especially with the cream on my hands, was almost impossible!(3) I have shoulder-length, ... MorePros:(1) No ammonia, smells quite nice.(2) Easy to prepare and apply.(3) Didn't drip.(4) The colour, of the amount that did take, was lovely.Cons:(1) My hair is very fine, and usually very soft and supple, but as I was washing out the dye, my hair absolutely awful. I do not usually have this issue with other brands. Somewhat disappointing.(4) You are told to use a "Hazelnut sized" amount of the conditioner. This is actually the amount I use of my usual conditioner, but using that amount of the product supplied just wasn't sufficient. I believe this is because the conditioner is quite think, so it doesn't spread well enough. To be honest, because my hair felt so awful, and was obviously badly tangled, I ended up using almost half the tube supplied in hopes it would help. It was totally ineffective.Stars out of 5: 2 starsWould I recommend?: Personally, I would consider other brands before even thinking of using this again.
