Gator GFW-ID-MIC ID Series Tripod Mic Stand With Boom
This mic stand has a collapsible tripod base. The extra-wide tripod feet provide a secure platform. When you are not using your stands, conveniently fold and collapse the feet into a compact unit ready for transport or storage. This stand has matte, red safety feet that add a touch of visibility to these otherwise sleek stands to reduce the risk of tripping or toppling over in dark room or venue. The patented telescoping boom arm expands up to 26′′. Once the boom is set in place, a unique swivel grip allows you to rotate the microphone from the opposite end which is great for last minute adjustments when using an overhead microphone.

Great stand for the price. I like the locking clips rather than having the knobs that eventually wear out. Definitely sturdy, only thing I don’t like is how bulky the bottom is when it’s collapsed but other than that it’s a great mix stand. Does what it needs to do, holds the mic. If you’re a guitarist, one of those guitar pick holders won’t fit around it.

Clip on boom stand broke after only being used less then 10 times. The other stand, the microphone clip screw threaded itself internally.

I have four (now five) of these stands and they have been excellent, functionally. However, I have had to make repairs or adjustments to each of them BEFORE I could put them into service. This purchase was no exception. The threaded fitting for the microphone clip attaches to the boom shaft through another set of threads. Those threads fit so poorly that the fitting would pull out of the shaft with even a small amount of pressure. I had a gig the day after the stand arrived, so returning it wasn't an option. I had to drill a hole through the shaft and the fitting and insert a pin.Gator, we're customers, not beta testers! Five stars for functionality, but 0 stars for quality control. I can't recommend these to anyone who isn't prepared to do some rework.

I have received a second stand after returning the first one as the front cam came off the rod it was attached to. The second one does the same. I will fix this myself as I like the stand overall. As a drummer, I have attached a gooseneck to it and it doesn't like the extra weight. I've attached a 5lb ankle weight to the base and that has helped to stabilize it. It folds up nice and compact and fits in my hardware bag.
I have already reviewed one of these but I am purchasing my second one if that says anything. These are not cheap stands nor should they be. They don't feel cheap and they hold up because in this case quality products were used to build these stands. It is clear that a lot of thought went into these stands when they were designing. I was worried at first that the turn function would be a problem but it has not been so far. I've been using my first for over a month and when I decided I needed a second stand for my new project I did not do any new investigation and went straight for the same stand because I know now exactly what I am getting and that is straight quality just like the rest of the Gator products I own.
Bought this to replace a cheaper model that was top heavy and prone to tipping over. The Gator model is very sturdy and works great.
The module that holds the ez close cam slipped off the rail after one gig. I was also hopIng the legs would be more stable. As a drummer, I require the boom to be over my head. With the goose neck I attached to it made the stand unstable. I'm returning it because of the cam problem but will get another and add some ankle weights to try and try to make it more stable. I do love the compactness. It fits great in my hardware case and is very lightweight. I can't recommend it for a drummer, but for everyone else, it's great.
This HAS to be the sturdiest stand I've found among all of recent vintage. Not only sturdy, but also good looking. I've had many remarks and compliments. I have a small shelf and a 12" tablet holder mounted on this stand with no suggestion of off-balance or too much weight. The 2 section telescopic boom is handy, and with stand and boom both fully extended, there is enough reach for many overhead micing tasks. I bought 1and like it. So I bought 3 more. It matches perfectly with the new Gator Frameworks speaker stands. Theses should be the last mic stands I need to buy for a long time. Yes, they are pricy. But I think they'll prove worth the cost with utility, good looks, and longevity.
After many, many hours of research, I chose this mic stand as it is very well engineered & made. I do like the release cam that instantly locks & unlocks the legs securely. The telescoping boom is unique in that is oval instead of the typical round & the quick-locks on the boom are a plus!!! Last but not least is how Gator inserted a rod in the boom so that you can articulate(roll) the mic in just the right position. Oh & did I mention that it's sexy too?
The cam clamp locks are a cut above the usual twist style. Easy to set and release at your selected height/extension. Appreciate the longer low profile legs for stability and reducing trip hazards.
