I'm very concerned about this purchase. It seems to me that the electronics are over engineered. The machine is set up with too much default safety behavior. Locking the lid for way too long. I like to add bleach after the tub is filled but it's not allowed. The memory of where the machine was in it's cycle caused me to be unable to do any wash the day I got it hooked up. I had to watch a bunch of YouTube videos and then got it going. There sure are a lot of repair videos for this machine. I'm very worried. The installation team just dropped it off. I had to hook it up and thought it was broken. But it turns out I just wasn't waiting long enough for it to proceed in it's cycle. Shame your weekend phone line didn't suggest this might be the issue.Once I got it ... MoreI'm very concerned about this purchase. It seems to me that the electronics are over engineered. Purchased as an open box item, in great shape, no issues mechanically or aesthetically, works as it should. This is new tech for me as I've had the old school pull dial/no locking lid washing machine for 18 yrs plus...washer finally bonked so I bought this one. I'm not used to the water being so low, but being an HE appliance, the water usage is low for a reason. Surprisingly the clothes come out clean even though they aren't in a pool of water. There is an option to have a full tub of water, but that defeats the purpose of buying an HE appliance. The only issue I have is the interesting noise it makes during a wash cycle. It sounds like a muffled duck going back and forth at about 40 bpm. Luckily I can close off the laundry room where it doesn't add to the ... MorePurchased as an open box item, in great shape, no issues mechanically or aesthetically, works as it should. Overall, as long as the clothes come out clean, then I'm a happy bean.

This washer is awesome. It automatically knows how much water to use and has great settings such as towels and sheets, bulky (for fishing gear and such) and there's even a speedwash setting to be used when you don't have time to wait. The machine really drains the water from the clothes well, which reduces the amount of time needed to dry them. Energy efficient right there.Do not use a lot of detergent. I'm serious: you only need about a table spoon of liquid detergent for a large load. There are so many options for washing. You can add an extra rinse and spin, you can add a soak, it's up to you. It's a quiet machine and I love how washing my winter blankets has been so easy - because there is no agitator in the way, there is more room for king sized blankets ... MoreThis washer is awesome. Been using it for a few months now. Learning curve was quick.I purchased GE because our last one lasted 16 years.

Features/FunctionsLove not having an agitator - no more unwinding clothes from that center pole.Love being able to add more water. High efficiency washers sometimes leave items not even that wet. This is a great option to override the default mode if a particular load needs it. Not very intuitive getting the "Deep Fill" to work - have been reading the manual and experimenting a bit to consistently get this to work for me. Could well be "operator error" but I feel like it should not be this difficult to figure out.Huge capacity: for the first time ever, I've been able to easily wash queen-size mattress pad along with other items with room to spare. Really, it's cavernous.Cycle choices are good.It is very quiet; hard to tell it is on except when hearing the sounds of water filling the tub. No shaking/rattling.This washer is way more efficient than any other washer I've used; loads are finishing a lot more quickly than I'm used to, which is terrific. Clothes come out clean so it's not skimping on actually cleaning them.Summary: Washer has more than lived up to my expectations. Excellent capacity, features, functions, and performance.
I shopped for my washer and dryer set at Home Depot online. I regret not going to the store to look at it in person, as I didn’t realize just how deep the tub is. I stand 5’2.5” and have a short torso and short arms. I’m also disabled with spinal issues and neuropathy. Needless to say, I have to use grabbers to remove my clothes from the washer because I can’t bend that far to reach the clothes at the bottom of the tub. This is a terrible design for short people. As soon as I realized the issue I have, and before I used the machine, I called both Home Depot and GE and stopped short of begging to exchange the set for a front loader set, but they refused and would not consider the circumstances involved. As far as performance, my clothes come clean, but even with a ... MoreI shopped for my washer and dryer set at Home Depot online. We purchased a new washer dryer set because our older appliances were beginning to break down. We should have paid closer attention to the small details. The washer is a HE model, with an impeller instead of an agitator. When my wife went to wash the first load, she asked where to put the fabric softener. This washer has NO provision for fabric softener. The manual for the washer indicated that we could use a 'ball' softener dispenser with the correct rinse setting. IT DOESN'T WORK and dumps the softener at the END of the wash cycle. Then the load must be run completely through an entire wash cycle because there is NO provision for running a RINSE ONLY cycle. Dryer sheets are not an option due to skin allergies. I may be forced to abandon this washer and purchase ... MoreWe purchased a new washer dryer set because our older appliances were beginning to break down. I purchased a washer and dryer set, and now I'm very pleased with both GE products. I will say, however the washing machine is High-Efficiency (HE). This is a very different type of washing system. It uses much less water and soap and the cycles take longer. I didn't know that at first, but after researching more information, everything made sense to me. Mine is also an impeller or infuser type machine, which means there's no center agitator. That is what I did want. I would suggest when you're looking for this type of HE machine to first read about product information so you can make up your mind. Then you won't be surprised when you put that first load in and the water just barely covers the load. The cycle is more gentle and your laundry does not come out all wound up tight like a twisted piece of rope. And then from the dryer, they finish great.
I am so disappointed in this washer. We intentionally bought a large tub, but I think there are water restrictions on this washer. I don't think this washer can handle large loads. Sometimes clothes come out of the wash with dry spots. Also, dark clothes end up with white streaks on them, almost like the detergent hasn't gotten rinsed out well. The washer makes a grinding noise when the tub is moving. Sometimes when I go to use the washer, I open the lid and the tub is already full of water. Or, as I am taking washed clothes out, water spits out from the back upper tub and soaks the clothes. Finally, at two and a half years the washer refuses to spin and is extremely loud. Hopefully it won't completely die before our new washer is delivered. Terrible product.
we got this 2-3 months ago and this is what it did there was a sheet and 2 towels in it. I can't tell you how upset I was especially being new. it gave no warning just 2 thuds and a crash I was in the next room. It completely demolished our laundry room. I will say I'm very impressed with the company fixing the wall and replacing the machine. But I honestly wouldn't recommend it, if I could I'd go back to my old washer we had for 10 years. Unfortunately I don't know how to post photos. All I can say is it knocked out dryer to the side and the side of the washer was in the wall on one corner hanging by the hoses and ripped the pipe out of the wall where the drain hose is. The washer of the back was bent outward and the top part dented and was hanging there the knobs ... Morewe got this 2-3 months ago and this is what it did there was a sheet and 2 towels in it. Again don't get me wrong I it worked good and I liked it till this. And like I said the company has been really good about getting our wall fixed and replacing it with another washer.
If I wash 2 small rugs the spin dry cycle works but the rugs are soaking wet. It vibrates so much that the washer moves out of place. It actually rocks back and forth and and I have to try to hold it in place. If I run the drain & spin cycle it adds water again before it drains & spins and the rugs are still soaking wet. I can't wash anything heavy like a small comforter or any blankets because it doesn't spin them dry. I don't know if it was improperly installed by Best Buy or if the washer is defective. The dryer works fine. The washer has been like this since day 1, I should have called when it was under warranty but I had life situations going on and wasn't able to call. Now I'm afraid to use the washer because the vibration may break the drain hose or loosen ... MoreIf I wash 2 small rugs the spin dry cycle works but the rugs are soaking wet. I can't find a GE customer service number to discuss this with anyone, I have another GE washer and dryer in my Florida home (a different model) and they work just fine.
