Bought this to deal with the 2022 Spring plague of mozzies due to all the standing water in Melb's eastern suburbs. Got desperate when I watched my partner walking outside under a floodlight on our deck, and saw a cloud of mosquitoes around him unlike anything I've ever seen. It was honestly shocking, and I felt terrible for our poor dogs spending so much time outdoors. Went and bought this unit the next day. After just 1 night of operating on our deck it had trapped about 100 mozzies. Note it traps them, it doesn't zap them, so they're still alive (for a bit) in the trap. Today, after 2 weeks of nightly operation (auto-on when it gets dark), we sprayed it with bug spray and emptied it and there were literally 2 big double handfuls of dead mozzies (and an occasional ... MoreBought this to deal with the 2022 Spring plague of mozzies due to all the standing water in Melb's eastern suburbs. The cage was completely full and would have had more had we cleaned it out earlier. I've never seen something so effective, and cannot recommend it highly enough. Had cheaper zappers before and they were fine but nothing like this. Worth the extra money to get this better unit.

I use these systems to capture and reduce female Mozzies and Midges in my rental properties. They catch all species of Mosquito plus Midges and Moths. They work perfectly when installed professionally and maintained (Cleaned regularly). I used Kingfrog Environmental for the install and haven't looked back.

I've been wanting a mozzie slayer that doesn't catch/kill too many innocent by-catch insects, especially moths and beetles. Such insects are an important part of our urban ecosystem. Unfortunately, this trap, expensive as it is, seems little better than the kill-everything-that-flies zapper variety. I was hoping the CO2-emitting function would shift the balance towards mozzies, but it appears not. The saving grace is that most insects weren't killed and could be released (if you're so inclined every morning - which I'm not as a rule).I've run it so far on auto over one night. We have mozzies during the day too, so I'm going to run it through the day too and see if it's effective.

Save your money . This zapper is useless.Gecko is usually very reliable but they really made a mistake with this product. Is killed like 10 mosquitoes in 6 months in a very mosquito infested area of my house.
I have had this for over two years now. I run it 24/7 to ensure no mozzies day and night. It catches lots of moths, as these die they are what attracts the mozzies. We use to get eaten alive out on our back deck, once this catcher started working we have been able to enjoy sitting outside without being attacked and eaten alive. When this unit dies, I will be buying another. I have just had to replace the light bulb for the first time and considering it hasn’t been turned off in the two Plus years of running it, I am more than happy with its performance. I don’t clean out the moths until the catch section is totally full.As I mentioned earlier, we no longer get bitten by mosquitoes with this Gecko.
Great product. Traps lots of insects. Just when emptying the trap, remember some of the insects are still alive, so hold down well in bin, to empty, so the are not released again. Great product
After reading a few negative reviews about this product, I took a chance and tried it for myself.I was NOT disappointed. After only 3 days of operation, the amount of dead bugs in it was astounding.I was particularly concerned with killing mosquitoes, and was very happy to see just how many mosquitoes my bug trapper had caught.I bought this product to get my mosquito/moth population under control in my backyard; and its auto off/on function is perfect for that. From my understanding, this product would not fair as well in a barbecue setting to keep the bugs off you, as such, but it's definitely doing the job for which I bought it.Brilliant!
Purchased as a gift in December and lamp failed in mid-February. Unit was used in line with recommendations in manual which also stated bulb life is up to 5000 hours.Lamp life experienced was less than 300 hours. After sales support from Gecko was unhelpful and replacement bulbs are not stocked by Bunnings and a special order is required.Based on my experience and the lack of any form of after sales support from Gecko I recommend looking at other products.
Have had this for three years. On/off switch stopped working soon after purchase but since it is stuck in the on position I just use the power point to turn it on & off.I use it indoors only, for when mosquitos get into the house. It usually does the job in one night. I have a small house. I leave it on the floor in the living room which seems to work fine. It also catches moths which is ok by me as I don’t want them inside anyway. At first I thought I had wasted my money as I was still getting bitten. I eventually worked out that mozzies had entry points around my fly wire screens and once I patched that up it works to get rid of the mozzies, usually in one night and sometimes within an hour or two.
Worked well until the fan broke after about 6 months. Caught lots of moths and mozzies. The collection container gets clogged quickly. Was it worth the money...maybe. Is it better than other zappers...maybe it lured mozzies more?
