This knife is my go-to fillet knife on my boat. I use it for both finesse cleanings like Kokanee (on the boat!) as well as bigger jobs like chinook and coho salmon and the occasional steelhead. From the product description, I didn't realize the groove on top was called "Guide Fins", but that feature is pretty handy for guiding this blade with my thumb--especially for the collars on salmon when you need control. Stays sharp and has a built-in sharpener.
Does not have as much flex as some of my previous fillet knives but the utility and in build sharprner make up for it. Good for larger species .
I needed a good knife for when catching fish inshore, that I can quickly bleed a fish and keep luring!..I used it for the first time yesterday and it did do what cheaper blunter type belt held knives didnt do...so yes I recommend it...The holster was a fiddle to set up right so that the knife remained stable on my waist but I have that in control...this is a good quality knife
