I have wavy/curly hair, and I sacrificed a wave to test this product! The packaging is beautiful and simple. There is a manual but it didn’t have too much information. For example it makes a sound when you plug it in, but then it played a few more notes later. Did that mean it was hot already? Unclear, so I waited longer. It just has an on/off button, but that is because it only heats to one temperature. The iron is a good size for the hand and nice and light. I do not often straighten my hair, but this is much lighter than a chi and some of the other brands. From one swipe down a wave, it made an obvious difference. When I went to turn it off pushing the button, it did not turn off so I unplugged it. The lack of instructions is a bit concerning, but ultimately self explanatory I hope. It did give off a weird smell, but so far I have used it once so I hope that also disappears with time. I do recommend this iron! I received this product free from Influenster for my honest review.

Another fantastic product

I have always bought GHD products as the quality is second to none. My very first straighteners purchased almost 20yrs ago are still working and much loved by my youngest daughter. I moved to the Gold when they first were released and have never looked back. I purchased these ones for my daughter for Christmas. The gift set made an amazing product that bit extra special. Everything from packaging to function is faultless and I would never use any other product on my hair. I regularly use the heat protect and shine products and the GHD brushes are a must to get that perfect style. Keep up the good work!

Don’t bother with GHD

What a disappointment from product to service. The straighteners barely heated up, there was no button to adjust heat. So in that basis they were useless. Returned them by using methods suggested by GHD and even though I could track when they were received back by GHD it was a further 3 weeks before I got my refund. Have since bought some Remington straighteners for a fraction of the price and they have done an exceptional job. Really unimpressed given GHD have been going for years, will definitely not be recommending to anyone complete waste of money.

GHD GOLD styler is the best model!

My first GHD was a gold limited addition styler, which lasted a decade. Upgraded to the platinum, which began giving issues after 2years. Never straightened the hair quite as well as my first GHD and had to have the internal board replaced last year. It stopped working again so decided to repurchase the gold styler. It is far superior to the platinum in my opinion - styles hold for much longer and heats up in 20secs. Would definitely recommend!

Don't hate it but don't love it either ! The gold looks the same as platinum. It doesn't keep hair straight I have thick curly frizzy hair straightened the night before and next morning and frizzy straight away much preferred the original ones. my old original lasted 10 years not sure the new styles will also I see they have gotten really dear compared to last year not worth the price at all especially as they dont come with heat mat or nice bag to put your straightener In to take care of it like the cloud nines do think I will give them a try . Also I don't think they get that hot

It took over 1 month from buying straighteners to actually receiving them and lots of time spent contacting customer services who were not very helpful.The GHD straighteners I had finally packed in, so I treated myself to a new pair in the Black Friday sale on the GHD website. The straighteners that arrived had clearly been used, they were marked and scratched so I contacted GHD with photos. I understand winter is a busy retail time, however they took a lot longer than I expected to reply and I felt that they didn't understand the issue. Red light of doom within 2 months of use.

The gold styling straighteners look beautiful, great colour and stylish. They were easy to use, heat up quickly and glide through my hair easily and comfortably - the silicon tip cover is a god send for cooling safely. All good - until today. Turned them on, they heated up (it doesn’t take long to style my jaw length hair), half way through styling the power button starts flashing red and the straighteners start beeping. Tried to turn off, nothing. Unplugged (finished styling with old straighteners). Waited until cool to try again - still red flashing light accompanied by beeps every few seconds. For this I am returning the straighteners, which is a shame as I’ve loved them since Christmas.

Review for my GHD GOLD Hair straightener

I bought Ghd Gold Hair Straightener a few weeks ago. I had heard a lot of good words about GHD indeed. Couldn't say it is not true. My straightener is relatively good, but every good thing has its own negative sides. I thought Gold would be the perfect size of hair straightener for me, but it turns out to be smaller than I thought. I did'nt wanted to buy GHD max because it seemed to me that it would be bigger than the normal size of hair straighteners. To conclude my review, the item is good, but small for my hair. It takes a lot of time to straighten my hair because of the small plates, even though I have thin hair. Thank you for asking me for a review.

Will Return after doing some digging

I just bought this product after reading all the negative reviews about the platinum plus. I had the gold for about 3 years but because this company doesn’t use ceramic plates, they cheap out using aluminum plates with a ceramic coating, the coating on my last one wore off making it extremely damaging to my hair. So I did some research and found out that coating aluminum plates with ceramic is the cheap way out and at this price I wasn’t expecting to read that. A good quality straightener will have full ceramic plates so even tho I just ordered this one and even though it has mainly great reviews, I will be canceling my order because I don’t believe the company is fairly pricing their actually cheaply made products.
