I bought this at Xmas, ghd were the leading brand years ago especially for thick curly hair, however i would say that has changed dramatically. I find this "new improved " product is falsely advertised and only selling on its once great reputation. By setting the maximum heat at the hair protecting heat setting in no longer works on thick frizzy curly hair.It doesn't get to roots and straightens to a low satisfying finish. Soon after finish my hair begins to volumise and if slight wind brushes it I look worzel gummidge. Bought this a few weeks ago. Delivery is quick. The straightener is average quality. My hair is really curly and thick and it takes about 45mins - 1hr to get it straight. Have to go over strands a few times to get it very straight. I have used the ghd for a long time and find that the original straighteners were much more efficient and effective. Whilst the wide plate is helpful I don't know if this is the best out there anymore. Wish the quality stayed better over the years. Had to get this one because my last one just stopped working with no warning. It was working one moment and just went dead :( Don't know how I feel about this one, no real improvements or innovation. Amazing straightener! I really LOVE this flat iron! :) I have mid-length straight thick hair (no “wash and go” for me) and it takes me just 10 min to straighten (I just need to go over the same section of hair once!). It is lightweight and super easy to use. It heats up in a few seconds (you can hear a sound when reaches the optimal temperature, which is set, so you don’t need to worry about that) and glides very easily along my hair. I currently own the ghd platinum 1inch styler by Lulu Guinness and I absolutely love it and the design on it.When unboxing the max styler - 2" I absolutely loved the plug in. It's slimmer than other styler I own. Now I can plug in two styling tools at one time instead of just one due to the boxy plug. The stylers plates appeared smooth and sleek. One thing I noticed is the styler was pretty slim for a 2" styler, which means it should be easier to style closer the the roots and around the face. Once I heated up the styler I couldn't believe how fast it was compaired to my 1inch styler. I have long, thin, never dyed, heat damaged hair. I was alittle worried how this would work with thin hair. But I was very pleased and suprised. I’ve used ghd stylers for the last several years, including several iterations of the 1” classic styler and most recently the 1” platinum; I was really surprised to see how much more smooth and shiny my hair was after having been straightened with this 2” styler. This is definitely my new go-to styler and I’d recommend it to anyone. Even with the 2” plates, I think it’d be a great straightener for all lengths of hair. The iron itself is well-made and sturdy. I like the chimes and light, which tells you that it's on and heated up. The grip is comfortable and the plates glide smoothly. The cord is extra long and doesn't easily tangle. I also like the rubber tip that insulates and protects during travel. My only complaint is that I do wish that it had a variable temperature setting and a higher maximum temperature. My 1" Solia, which I bought some 12-13 years ago and is still going strong, gets up to 450 degrees and, frankly, that's the heat that I need to use it at to get a really smooth, glossy finish. The Max Styler only goes up to 365 degrees and I do notice the difference. Although it's enough to get my hair flat, it's not hot enough to get it really smooth and glossy. I still have to finish with my 1", particularly in humid weather, or it appears slightly frizzy, which sort of defeats the purpose of having it, but not completely: the 2" plates allow me to flat iron my hair in 15-20 minutes, which is about half the styling time of the 1". That alone makes it worth it for me personally. But if I'm having problems getting a truly smooth, glossy finish with my mixed-race black and Japanese hair, I am sure that someone else with coarser, thicker hair will not be pleased with their results, so buyer beware--especially if you have black hair.

I love that this styler heats up in 30 seconds and that it has a 8.8 ft cord. I travel frequently for work and the long cord is super nice to have in hotel rooms where outlet placement is not always the best. The wide plates handle larger sections of hair with ease, which has significantly cut down on the time it takes me to do my hair. The weight is balanced in the hand, the heat-up time fast with a soft tone to signal the heating mechanism is engaged. The start/stop button is on the inside of the tool and therefore is not operated by unintended on/off if it were located on the holding handle of the iron. The heat is hot enough to straighten the hair yet cool enough as to allow handling the hair for the next pass. There is no snagging or pulling of the hair; the plates as smooth and allow for fast operation to smooth the hair as it straightens. The 2" plate is perfect for longer hair and thicker hair. The cord is very long to allow ease of use during the plugged in phase. The effect also lasts for a whole day outdoor in humid Texas weather. I love the automatic sleep mode as I am always in a morning rush. The long cord (8.8ft) and universal voltage are very useful features for people who travel often. The silicone cover also help to protect the plates when not in use. The only drawback is that it is a little heavier than the 1" styler. I also find it hard to curl my hair due to the wide plate but anyway I mainly use it for straightening. Overall, this styler is a magic. I am able to straighten my hair in less than half of the time it used to be and it gives my hair a healthier and sleek look.
