There was a lot of hype and praise for this game, so I blindly bought it when it was on sale.Personally, it didn't hook me in like other games like God of War or Spider-Man - those games are 5 stars for me.I feel the enemy A.I is dumb and not highly intelligent/or have natural human movements, like you see in the enemies for Spider-Man. The characters move kind of clunky too.I mean, I think most games are just similar and just reskinned for different themes, like Batman Arkham Knight, or even Mad Max. I actually enjoyed Mad Max (underrated game) more than this game.If you love Samurai themes, then I guess you will instantly love this game. The black and white Kurosawa theme mode is pretty cool addition.

I rarely get to play video games, but I am glad I took the time to buy and play this one. I bought the standard ps4 directors cut for around $40. It’s worth twice that in my opinion. It’s hard to imagine this game looking better than it does on my console. The load time is minimal, and it lags very rarely. While some of the side missions can get repetitive, there is always some type of reward that makes it worth it. The main storyline is rock solid and beautifully laid out. The acting is top notch and open world is gorgeous. I enjoyed the dlc Iki island expansion also, which delves deeper into the main characters history, and comes with cool new gear and abilities. If you like Assassin’s Creed, but are looking for something with less of a grind, go with this game. ... MoreI rarely get to play video games, but I am glad I took the time to buy and play this one. You should be able to Platinum this game without much difficulty.

I'm about 25 hours in and it gets even better! Not only is there plenty of multilayered combat and amazing exploration, there's also quite intimate moments. From trailing sweet foxes to secret dens to following golden birds to secrets. Many being quite places to create your own haikus. There are markers but you aren't guided there by a yellow line. You're guided by the wind. At first I didn't like it but now it's second nature. There's also little details that if you aren't looking you'll miss. Like ants on trees, lighting actually striking trees, little crabs scurrying and burrowing into the sand and leaves and dirt/pebbles kicking up as you walk. It's impressive and helps sell the immersion so much more. Also being able to go into any building is nice. Loved this ... MoreI'm about 25 hours in and it gets even better! I've grown quite attached to him myself.

One of the best games I’ve played in a long time, A totally immersive experience the combat was great and did not get stale due to the difference stances for each type of enemy, even late in the game switching fluidly from one stance to another while fighting multiple different enemies fun and rewarding. Also traveling the map didn’t feel like a chore like other games (red dead redemption) there was always different side quests and collectibles that weren’t just wastes of time but improved your various character stats and then turned in to fast travel points so you never had to spend long periods of time traversing the map. Those things aside the story is what stood out the most, the story of jins journey was very touching between the flashbacks when he was a child ... MoreOne of the best games I’ve played in a long time, A totally immersive experience the combat was great and did not get stale due to the difference stances for each type of enemy, even late in the game switching fluidly from one stance to another while fighting multiple different enemies fun and rewarding. Those things aside the story is what stood out the most, the story of jins journey was very touching between the flashbacks when he was a child sparring with his uncle to fighting side by side with a grieving mother looking for justice for her family. They did a good job not to flood the game with to many characters that are forgotten as soon as the missions over butinstead focus on a core few that you build your relationship with throughout the game through their side missions, so by the end of the game you really feel for these characters who have been by your side from the beginning. I’m so glad I ended up reading a few reviews on this game then ultimately buying it, worth every penny probably put over 50 hours into it. I never write reviews but this game was that good.
Initially, I had written it off as another generic open world game but the rapturous praise from many youtubers and players made me reconsider. Unfortunately, I think my first impression was closer to the truth than the euphoric response seen elsewhere online as Ghost Of Tsushima has many attributes that I love but is ultimately brought low by excessively generic design. On the positive side the combat is genuinely stellar as a result of great flow, mechanics, and controls always ensuring that the various fights and duels were a good time. Furthermore, the graphics and art style are absolutely phenomenal capturing the era of feudal Japan beautifully and somehow feeling like a next gen title on the PS4. Furthermore, the graphics and art style are absolutely phenomenal capturing the era of feudal Japan beautifully and somehow feeling like a next gen title on the PS4. The biggest problem with this game in my opinion is that the open world feels artificial and incredibly boring with the same one note activities spread thoughtlessly throughout the world and an over reliance on the guiding wind & birds over genuine exploration. The next crippling flaw is that the quest design is atrocious with many of the worst design choices from the early Assassin's Creed games making frequent appearances like brainless tracking missions, tailing missions, and forced stealth sections. Finally, the narrative is a mixed bag with great elements (a surprisingly great ending), decent elements (characters), and weak elements (contrivances & weak themes) all being present i nearly equal measure. 3.5/5
I'll start by saying this was a double-dip from a PS4 version, which ran beautifully and I didn't think much could be improved upon. However, the graphic upscaling and refresh rate changes on PS5 really enhance this game to the next level. As an added bonus you get bonus add on content and the additional DLC for Iki island. You can upgrade your base game separately if you purchased the base game, and cross play from PS4 to PS5, so you can probably save some cash and upgrade your existing game if you purchased the game day one. Overall this game offers plenty in the base game, I haven't even scratched the DLC surface, it's easy to hop in and explore for several hours and admire the boosted graphics and scenery.
Right from the start i knew there was something special about it. but it wasn’t until about a quarter of the way through when it really hit me story and gameplay wise. the story, the mechanics, the graphics, the open world, all of it was so beautiful and so very epic. extraordinary!! legendary!! a truly beautiful masterpiece. This game is a marathon, and a great one at that. it took me 100 hours to complete. probably the longest one i have ever played. It’s an incredible story of survival and attrition, perseverance, love, honor, trust, vengeance, life and death.I am excited for anyone who is about to play this for the first time as i just have. take your time with it and enjoy it as much as you can. we may never see another one like this in our life time.
Sucker Punch making a Japanese-esque game, especially one set in the past, probably made you think "Why would they do this? They are not a Japanese studio." I understand why you would think that, but Sucker Punch knew what was at stake by doing this so they did the research that included visiting Japan to get all the information they needed for this game. Considering that Japanese gamers praise this game, we know this game is a success. Sucker Punch made a great game with an amazing setting with amazing character and the gameplay is great. It captures the Japanese essence. Sucker Punch showed that they cared with this game.
This is by far one of the best games Ive ever played. I was told by a mate that because I absolutely love the Assassins Creed franchise (bar Chronicles, but we wont get into that terrible series), I would think GoT is better. He wasnt wrong. This game is graphically beautiful, especially the weather effects and the water. The movement and battle mechanics are second to none, massively improving on my previously loved AC franchise. There is lots to do in GoT but not overwhelmingly so. You are not constantly repeating similar scenarios, like in AC (Odyssey for example). This game feels fresh. The soundtrack, I could write a whole dissertation on, it is absolutely stunning. The composers have made a beautiful, orchestral soundtrack, whilst including oriental elements ... MoreThis is by far one of the best games Ive ever played. The soundtrack, I could write a whole dissertation on, it is absolutely stunning. The composers have made a beautiful, orchestral soundtrack, whilst including oriental elements that arent too dominating. I am a huge Hans Zimmer fan but this soundtrack has introduced me to two new composers that have set the bar when it comes to game soundtracks. The music isnt too overpowering and each scene fits. The theme/leitmotif of the game is overused neither and you know when you hear it , youre at an important part of the game. Fast paced when it needs to be but capturing those heart strings during the more emotional moments. The main story is incredible and hard hitting at times. From whatIve experienced so far, this game has the most immersive (and to be fair, Red Dead Redemption 2 set the bar high) and engaging story that will keep your fingers away from the skip button. The side quests are equally as engaging. One thing that I would say is missing from the game.Fishing! You know a games good when you can just stop whatever youre doing on the main game for a minute and just catch some fish. Adds a bit of therapeutic calm in between hacking and slashing.
I have owned both PS5 and Xbox Series X basically since they were released. I've always been team Xbox, but I went ahead and finally got the PS5 to try out the exclusive titles. I enjoyed Spiderman. I wanted God of War to wow me, but it didn't. I still have high hopes for the Horizon games, I just haven't gotten around to them yet. That said, my PS5 has been collecting dust for almost 2 years. I've been enjoying Game Pass and all its offerings, along with other titles on Xbox. Then this past holiday season my son convinced me to get Ghost of Tsushima. I haven't touched my Xbox in the past month. This game is EXCELLENT. The graphics are gorgeous. The story is good. The gameplay is fun. It has some shortcomings, but they are few.
