Don't get me wrong, I love this guitar, but it took 4 guitars to find one that wasn't damaged or missing hardware. Im not sure what Gibson is up to these days, but I received the first guitar with an obvious blemish under the clear. I ordered a replacement. The second guitar came with a broken toggle switch, dent in the bridge pickup, a different case, wobbly knobs, and was completely missing the control knob pointers. At that point I had had enough and drove to my non local GC that had 2 to choose from. One had a blank truss plate and the other had the Standard truss plate. So you could sort of say that 3 of 4 were different from the "factory". I ended up finding a great one at GC, but it took me coming out of pocket for 3 at the same time for that to happen. It ... It was a strange and stressful purchase process for something that should've been very exciting. They also made me pay to ship back one of the two guitars. Love the guitar, and the customer service is great, but the lack of quality control leaves something to be desired and basically ruins the entire experience.

First of all, sorry that this is in english but maybe somebody will still find it useful. I ordered two of this exact model. I sent the first one back due to a quality issue. The first guitar was well set up, played really well, sounded great, and looked beautiful but at the top of the neck there was a very small gap between the fretboard and the neck. It was about 0,5 mm in height and about 3 cm in width on both sides of the neck. It was small but you could feel it with your hand every time you played over it. Anybody would notice it upon inspection and I am quite surprised that it got past both the Gibson quality control and the Musicstore check. This is the reason for the lower score on “Verarbeitung”. Anybody would notice it upon inspection and I am quite surprised that it got past both the Gibson quality control and the Musicstore check. This is the reason for the lower score on “Verarbeitung”. Now, was it a showstopper? For me, it was, considering the price of the instrument. For others, it may not have been and to be honest I thought long and hard before sending it back because it was otherwise a really excellent instrument and I’m sure some people may have decided to keep it. Kudos go out to the Musicstore.de for making absolutely no fuss about taking it back. I will certainly consider buying from this store again in the future. Now, to the second guitar I received: What can I say? It is a wonderful instrument that has THE sound. I usually play a Telecaster but wanted something Gibson-ish for a more humbucker-type sound. This has that sound, so if you are looking for a classic Les Paul sound, you will not be disappointed. Unlike the first guitar which seemed set up quite well by the Musicstore, the second one was not. This is not a problem for me as I am familiar with setup work but if you are not, then you may need to take the guitar to a good luthier once you receive it in order to get the most out of it. So that is something to consider when buying. Mine was pretty off and didn’t seem like anyone spent more than 3 minutes setting it up which was a bit disappointing considering that I know (based on calls to the store) that the delivery was being held back for over a week because it was waiting to be checked and set up. The truss rod had been adjusted quite right but the intonation was way off, the action was “ok”. The pickups seemed untouched and the height was off leading to an imbalanced sound. These are all minor things and it didn’t bother me because I like to set up my own guitars anyways but it should be noted that there seems to be a diffrerence in attention to detail between whoever is doing the setups at the store. That said, once set up properly, this thing is a killer! It is a tone and sustain monster! As far as workmanship goes, I can’t find any noticeable flaws. The finish is beautiful and the binding is very well done. The fretboard was extremely dry and needed to be oiled right away. This is typical Gibson and a bit annoying but also not a real issue that can’t fixed with a few drops of lemon oil and 2 mins of work. One last thing to note, the guitar is heavy. The fist one weighed 4.6 Kg and the second one weighs 4.4 Kg. That is normal for a Les Paul but you should know that in advance in case that is important to you.Reading back what I wrote above may seem negative but it is only so others know what to expect. All in all, I’m very happy with the guitar and would buy it again but for the price, I would’ve expected a bit more attention to detail.

I own a number of Gibson LP's, had an '06 Standard that just didn't cut it tonewise or playing wise and sold it years ago. Yesterday, at VIP event, bought a 50's Standard in tobacco burst. It played like a dream, no buzzing and beautiful clear tone through the Deluxe Reverb I was using at the GC store. I was disappointed to see a 1" scratch in the finish just below the pickguard and some dings in the headstock, along with scratches on the pickup covers...Really?? The salesman, a really good guy, with whom I've worked many times over the years, offered to order another as they didn't have any other 50's in tobacco. I decided to buy this one, at a discounted price, because of the way it played and have no regrets. Other than the scratch and dings, the finish and color ... I love the 50's neck. This is my only Standard and will complement my collection of a Studio Lite, Trad Pro, Trad Gold Top, Custom Black Beauty, and Classic. It sounds amazing, no tuning stability issues. I heartily endorse the 2022 Standard 50's...just look it over carefully before you buy!

I started my journey of playing guitar 31 years ago with a Washburn KC-40. Then graduated to a Epiphone Les Paul Korean run plush top. Over those years I have played and owned several Gibson's, but they never felt right or they had other issues like staying in tune. I can say the Gibson Les Paul Standard 50 had the IT factor! From the first time I held it in my hands at Guitar Center Pittsburg, I was impressed with the weight of the guitar. I like heaver guitars. As I looked it over there were no flaws, no tuning issues and the nut was correct, so no sharp open cords. This was a solid built and the craftsmanship was outstanding. I plugged it into a Blackstar venue series MK2 -40W and was blown away with the sound both clean and dirty. I have in my life played everything from a true one owner 59 Les Paul, a The Les Paul all wood Anniversary edition and many other versions. Playing this one felt right! I played 4 of these all playing the same and sounding similar, but chose the dark burst to match the other tobacco bursts I own. Don't let the lower output humbuckers fool you they can deliver rich 70's to today's metal sounds. I can't say enough about the quality and playability of this Standard. Gibson you really brought back history. Oh almost forgot the case is solid and well crafted.
I have been on the hunt for a new guitar for a very long time. I have wanted a Gibson les Paul since I was a child, however Gibson's products and quality had gone down a steep hill for many years. I was extremely excited to see the release of these new standard les Paul's and that they are returning to how they should be. Solid mahogany, "lower out put" picks in the 50s spec. The weight of my guitar is 8.8 pounds and it feels heavy enough to know it's the real deal but light enough to not throw the back out on stage. As for the pickups the cleans sound very clear on the bridge, but give you a bite on the bridge. The middle selection is incredible, you have a plethora of tones at you disposal. The fret work is very good and the quality control seems to be getting better, however not perfect yet.My only complaint is that this brand new guitar already has a blemish underneath the pick gaurd(it can only be noticed upon a hard inspection and would not be seen from a distance, see pics) They are set up so low that the bolt is pressing into the wood. These guitars are considered "AA" flame but most I have seen have AAA quality flames so that is a massive disappointment to those who want to remove the pick guard.Other than that small defect coming out of the factory the guitar plays absolutely amazing, as soon as you pick it up you can feel the quality that has gone into making these guitars.Gibson is back!
I have ebony version of 50’s standard.Guitar is immaculate, there is nothing that points to the horror stories of Gibson QC. Frets are perfectly leveled, action is very low., nut properly cut, pain and binding as it should be.Neck profile is perfect, thick but not the famous baseball bat. Not extremely thicker than the neck on my Fender AO60 Strat.Pickups are versatile and can cover a lot of genres. Maybe more Bonamassa than super high gain but still very versatile.Yes, these days they are a bit on the heavier side if comparing to the all kinds of chambered bodies Gibson used to deliver but unless it is close to boat anchor weight, which is for me 4,5kg and above it is well worth.I would buy again if the quality remains the same.
I sold a custom shop Les Paul R8, and regretted it. Although it was close to 10lbs. This 50s standard is much lighter and resonates and sustains beautifully. Sounds strong and bold but with some depth to the tone, if on the warm side! The transparent ocean blue is like a subtle prs finish, lovely. The oxblood is also a great colour, as was the various reds especially the metallic wine red solid colour but the light weight for a 'paul' won over. Really pleased. Great Gibson. Wonderful purchase with usual great Andertons service.
I’ve bought a few guitars over the years and this one is easily the best I’ve played. It was set up perfectly out of the box and played like silk. The sound is pure Les Paul 50’s era (PAF) with the pickups being slightly less hot than a modern or 60’s variant but with great tonal variety. The volume and tone controls are capable of shaping the tone easily and without that ‘on / off’ feeling that many guitars suffer from.Cosmetically, it’s gorgeous. Exactly what I wanted and even better than it looked on the web site. The service? Typical Andertons excellence!Great experience overall.
I first bought a Les Paul Traditional from 2020. I soon came to release that I don't need all of those added bells and whistles that come on the traditional and also I found out after playing one in the store that I really like the bigger 50s style neck. Also, the pickups on these guitars (Burstbuckers 1 and 2), sound great. I like the neck probably more than the bridge so I might change the bridge in the future but it sounds great. I'm just being picky. Also, the quality of the craftsmenship really shines. Definitely save the money and go for a standard and skip the studio/tribute if possible.
Sound:don't let my experience stop you from purchasing anything from zZounds. I just got a bad product that was not their fault. I have purchased 4 guitars, 1amp head, 6 piece drum kit, and electric drums. also countless accessories and never had a issue. I would recommend them over any competitors.Overall:it arrived with a broken nut and I couldn't get it to intonate.the saddles were wrong. I sent it back for a replacement and I hope this next one is in better shape.
