I've been using the Mach 3 razor for more years than I can remember. I didn't know until recently that I could buy the blades for it online directly from Gillette. I can get them here for a much more fair price than I could find in store. Many stores have been out of stock or offered some kind of 3 blades or less packs for 12-15 dollars. When I need more blades I'll always come here and buy them.I only shave about once a week so these blades will last for long time. I know Gillette wants to sell them to me monthly but I won't need to replace them that frequently. It's good to know I can still find the blades for this Razor, it's been out for a couple of decades now. Wow, I'm getting old.

Do not purchase! This product was sold as a 15 count Gillette Mach 3 Razor Blades, 15 blade refill including a Gillette Mach 3 Package. That is NOT what I received. I received 15 razor blades in a clear wrapper, Gillette Mach 3 was nowhere on the product. The cartridges themselves had no imprint of Mach 3 as my legitimate cartridge I had bought elsewhere, and the razor blades themselves were different in design from my legitimate ones bought elsewhere. When I tried one, they wouldn’t even cut through a leg hair AT ALL.

I am a big fan of Gillette razors and as such I was excited to try to the Mach3. I typically shave everyday using a more expensive razor which has gotten to be a habit that is becoming harder to afford. After trying the razor for a week, I noticed no significant difference in the quality of shave compared to my current blades. The handle is a lot lighter than my typical razor so it took a little getting used to in my hand. I would say the biggest difference was that it barely felt like I was shaving at all. Initially I found that I was holding it a little awkwardly which caused me to miss a couple of strokes with all handle. Still once I got the hang of it, I could tell a big difference in the comfort of the shave. Still once I got the hang of it, I could tell a big difference in the comfort of the shave. I can normally feel the hair coming off with my regular blade and I usually cut myself once or twice in a given week. Never had that problem with the Mach3. Not only that, I saw a big difference in the life of the lubrication strip. I have been using the same blade all week every day for scalp and beard and there is little wear on the strip at this point. I will likely keep going just to see how long it lasts. A couple of cons I noticed were that while the blades rinse easily, the micro fins are a little tougher to get fine hairs out. I also noticed that I made an extra pass in tough to shave areas to get a close even shave throughout. Aside from that I would say this you cannot go wrong with the Mach 3, a choice I think any reasonable person would make again and again without hesitation.

Despite the description, I did NOT receive genuine Gillette Mach 3 blades. Yes, the description stated that packaging may vary. And the packaging I received the blades in was simply clear plastic. This is not what bothered me...if it cut costs to save from the fancy packaging I'm all in. But the blades were not the genuine article. Having used Gillette Mach3 blades since they were invented, it was obvious from the first swipe (or attempt at a swipe) that these were a knock-off. Yes, they have three blades. But the blade immediately was "caught" on my stubble. I've had to shave EXTREMELY carefully at different angles to get somewhat what I am used to with genuine blades...and without the pain of the pulling of the facial hairs.
Just like many others who are experiencing subpar performance out of the new Mach 3s, I am also voicing my concern about the quality of new Mach 3s which have definitely been compromised, one very obvious reason is the fact that the older Mach 3s were made in Germany but the newer ones don’t even mention where they are made in ( I guess for obvious reasons! ), I used to shave at least 5 times with one blade, now only 2, max 3 with some cuts on my face, I’m glad users notice this although Gillette won’t admit to it. Where are the new blades made in Gillette?
Pitiful longivity is WHAT you can expect nowadays with Gillete Mach 3 refills.Been loyal to this brand & particular blade since it's release in mid 1998, however, I can no longer expect them to deliver a crisp smooth shave after 1 or 2 uses as before. Yeah I get it, I'm getting OLD & things change but .... I'm very systematic with using warm water to cleanse / clean the blades before setting them to dry face up in the razor stand. There is a lot of joy when shaving with a NEW blade but forget that experience after the 2nd. shave & that alone raises the cost of using them out of my bathroom entirely. They just simply don't last very long anymore !!!
The older Mach3 razors (with blue plastic, which I ordered directly via the Gillette website) were fantastic. I've been using the Mach3 and only the Mach3 for over 20 years to shave my head and my face - outstanding. However, the last batch of Mach3 razors (the new variety with black plastic) had to be returned. The shave was clearly subpar by comparison. You could not only feel the difference when shaving, but the razors required going over the same area multiple times to produce a shave which was barely as good as what you could achieve with one or two passes from the older blue plastic Mach3's.I don't know why anyone at the company would make changes to a product that is already perfect. It makes no sense whatsoever. I don't know what I will buy to shave my ... MoreThe older Mach3 razors (with blue plastic, which I ordered directly via the Gillette website) were fantastic. When I first received notification I could participate in a Gillette Mach3 Razor review I thought, "what is this, 2002?". In fact, it wasn't.First introduced in 1998, the Mach3 is approaching 20 years keeping folks clean shaven. Up front, I want to admit I use a Gillette Fusion for my daily shaves, but I did use a Mach3 in the past. I was expecting a slight degradation from the Fusion's performance, and I didn't really get one over this short review period.I used the Mach3 a total of 7 times. While I use a non-Gillette brand shaving cream/lotion, I was impressed with the Mach3's ability to smoothly take my moderate daily scruff straight down to the skin. I shaved 5 times on 24 hour scruff and twice on 48 hour scruff, and it was able to provide a smooth, tight ... MoreWhen I first received notification I could participate in a Gillette Mach3 Razor review I thought, "what is this, 2002?". Something basic and clean was appreciated. The other demographic I believe could benefit from a Mach3 are those that are just learning to shave. Save some money, and buy this for your teenagers instead of higher priced options. It will easily handle their fuzz. That said, I haven't been able to test the limits of the cartridge's performance. I plan to use it until the cartridge needs replacing, and I depending on the results I may actually permanently switch BACK to the Mach3! The cartridges are about 30% cheaper than fusion refills, and considering I shave every day for work, that cost can add up!Even after 20 years and apparent "advancements in shaving technology" from other razors, the Mach3 still gives a terrific shave and compares well against higher priced razors. Give it a shot if you're up in the air on your razor decision.
I have been using Gillette razors since I was old enough to shave....more than 30 years. I have been been using Mach 3 since they came out. Upon first using these, I knew immediately these were not Gillette Mach 3 razors. I am bald and shave my head every couple of days and have done so for more than a decade. This blade did not glide smoothly like a Gillette Mach 3. I worried from the moment I started using it that I was going to cut myself, and I never have that concern. The second time I used it, I dropped it (as happens from time to time). When it landed on the shower floor, the mechanism on the blade that holds the razor to the handle broke, which also has never happened to me in my years of shaving. Unfortunately these razors were some of the worst razors we’ve ever purchased. Very dull! They were nothing like the Gillette Razors I love and have purchased regularly for the past 20 years. Not even close to the quality. They aimed to be “Gillette” on the listing, but I’m not sure they really were. They came in sealed plastic bags, no Gillette packaging or logo on the dispensers like our other Gillette Razors. They looked like them, but functioned very poorly. We used one once and will be returning.
