A masculine fragrance for an adult. Fresh Aquatic, yet dark and inviting. This one is truly a masterpiece fragrance by Alberto Morillas you must smell once in your life, and it’s quite strong so no need to overspray. This fragrance reminds me of my dad. My dad used to wear the original Aqua Di Gio, and I used to steal it wear it in High School. It smells familiar to the original but adds a depth and a heft to it making it more of a late afternoon to nighttime scent for me, but it is super versatile. I could smell this year round and not be upset. This fragrance contains sea notes, bergamot, incense, sage, rosemary patchouli. My girlfriend loves the dry down of this one on me. She struggles with the openings of fragrances, as they lean more alcoholic citrusy, but she doesn’t mind this one, as she knows what it’s going to smell like after a little while. This is one of her favorites to smell on me. ADG Profumo has been compared a lot to Versace Dylan Blue. I would say they are similar due to the shared incense peppery notes but dylan blue is slightly sweeter and works better on teenagers, whereas Profumo is better for men. Because I live in a warmer climate, I wouldn’t wear this one all day because of how strong it is. I would lean into this one at night or late evenings.

It must be an interesting job to track sales by geography and wonder why scents work where. For instance, Mugler Aura did not do well in my area, despite me liking it. One guess is the wintergreen note. In this specific part of Alabama, the smell of wintergreen has a strong association with Tobacco dip or chew. That notes is often the scent mixed into it. It's hard to dissociate a women's fragrance from a dip spit container carried by rough country boys. While Lights is nothing so bad a comparison, the prickly green/plant notes I pick up bring to mind a waxy leafed bush that lined the sidewalksof my school growing up. That could be specific to me, and my guess at the wintergreen note could have affected sales absolutely zero, but it's fun to think about.

Acqua Di Giò Profondo Lights by @giorgioarmani. The latest flanker flanker. Am I impressed? Not entirely, but I ain't mad at it! Where Absolu Instinct was much different than Absolu, Profondo Lights doesn't stray too far from Profondo. There are slight differences in this one. On skin, the opening has a little less citrus and freshness and a slight added spice and depth from the cardamom. The dry down has a little more "zing" to it, but I feel this doesn't project off the body quite as much as Profondo. Overall, I do think this one just inches ahead in overall scent over the OG Profondo, but I also feel if you have Profondo, this isn't different enough to justify getting both. But if I had to choose one over the other, I would pick this one. Also, though it didn't ... MoreAcqua Di Giò Profondo Lights by @giorgioarmani. The latest flanker flanker. Am I impressed? Also, though it didn't seem to be a huge projector, this one smells noticeably different in the air than it smells off skin, and compared to the OG-P. Maybe this one should have been called Profondo Nights. Overall, not blown away, but not completely let down. I like it and will be another great summer freshie. I also love this bottle!

Hard to believe, but it’s true Armani Acqua Di Gio Profumo has been out for seven years. There’s a bunch of these flankers from the Acqua Di Gio line, which goes back to the original classic from 1996 or so. That was worn by everyone back in the day. When I first heard of this I was skeptical. Twenty years after the original, which was super, yet how could this DNA of a legend be reinvented? Wow I’m so glad to have been so incorrect, as this is by far my favorite cologne. It gets the most compliments, and I see why it’s a hot seller. According to Fragrantica, this has notes that are aromatic, marine, fresh spicy, amber, smoky, citrus, woody, warm spices, and patchouli. According to Fragrantica, this has notes that are aromatic, marine, fresh spicy, amber, smoky, citrus, woody, warm spices, and patchouli. A lot of their reviewers, including professionals and this man, believe it’s the premiere 4 season fragrance. That alone is very rare, but this smells far more expensive than it’s pricing. At around $100 to $115 for 2.5 ounces, this is no joke a bargain. Yes it’s a major designer house, but this one is superior in every aspect. The bottle alone is black, with the distinctive font. I really am enamored by the magnetic cap for the bottle. A high end touch. They were doing this before others did this, and it also will stay in your hand for applying. Two to three sprays maximum! This is a high concentration of delicious high end fragrance. It’s the most mature of the line, and yes it’s better than the Profundo and other flankers. Armani managed to improve the original, and make this addictive and sultry monster. Projection and sillage are incredible. For up to 7 or 8 hours, maybe more depending on weather, expect ridiculous projection far off of your skin. If you want to spray your clothes, 24 to 48 hours. I’m not joking as this is extremely bold and refined. The amount of compliments this one gets compared to other fine colognes, some far more expensive, is an amazing feat of genius. The versatility of this cologne, it’s good for everything from the office to date night. There aren’t many of those, nor ones of this quality that are four season. This is my absolute favorite cologne. I would like to sincerely thank this designer, because they’ve delivered a classic, that will still smell amazing a hundred years from now.

Giorgio Armani has had so much success over the years. In the 90’s, they had a huge share of the market. I’ve always admired their quality and Mediterranean vibe, but have mixes feelings about the Profondo. This EDP was released in 2020, to I believe, tack a more casual vibe to the already hot selling Profumo. That is their king and while I like this release, that’s the one if you could only pick one, go with the more fancy cologne in the black bottle. This is newer by five years, having been released in 2020. Due to it being summer a lot of “Fragheads†on YouTube and other platforms, are developing a lot of content with this one. This is newer by five years, having been released in 2020. Due to it being summer a lot of “Fragheads†on YouTube and other platforms, are developing a lot of content with this one. They are correct this is exclusively a summer fragrance, but there are some problems with this one. You’re probably thinking, this is going to be a diss of Profondo. Far from it. This is a solid, non offensive, good quality cologne. You can find it on sale often, which is an added bonus all by itself. My problem with it, is it’s length of service. Also it doesn’t project enough for fall or winter wear. Spring it can, but make sure the heat is up on that particular day. A one season cologne can be considered a strike, and this one is not a beast mode fragrance. It’s a skin scent immediately, and if you get 4 to 6 hours, that’s about as good as it’ll get. To its credit it has a very pleasing aroma, and it’s my hope Armani will reformulate this as a parfum with a bit more testosterone. Bergamot and orange is playful, as it’s mixed in with rosemary, lavender, iris, amber, patchouli, and musk. This is more youthful than the Profumo, but the sophistication difference is huge. If a male 18 to 30, this would be more for you, as a Profumo would be 30 and up preferably. Both will work for most ages, but this won’t be taken seriously if wearing it to work. In many ways it’s a better spelling and less synthetic version of Nautica Voyage. You can detect the ingredients are high quality, but as the devils in the details, the lack of projection and a scent trail is slightly disappointing. If you really want this, and again a nice note set up, get it on sale. It’s quite often featured on the manufacturer’s website, and department stores have deals frequently. To its credit a safe, pleasant and somewhat marine scent. I will say that overall reactions have been positive. The key is that length of service. By all means try a sample at a department store, and if you truly love it, carry a decant with you to apply more throughout the day. That is a viable option, as I must say that this is an inviting scent, but the Profumo is where Armani scored a touchdown with.

Exactly what I've been looking for
13 July 2022

I love this cologne, and I really hope it's not being discontinued. I started out with Profondo, and I really loved it's fresh scent, but I just couldn't shake the feeling that I knew if I found something that was exactly like Profondo but a little bit muskier, that I would absolutely love it. Then I found Profondo Lights, and I immediately fell in love with it. I really, really hope that it's not being discontinued, because this is definitely my signature scent. Online I've seen nothing but good reviews for Profondo Lights, and I see that like me, a lot of people prefer Profondo Lights after smelling both of them together. The best way to describe Lights is "unique". Profondo falls much more in line with the traditional ADG DNA, but Profondo is unique in the way that it still carries the original DNA, with just a little twist. ADG produces very *clean* smelling colognes. I love clean smelling colognes, but I love a musk to my colognes as well, that isn't too overpowering. Just enough to turn heads, that's what I like. Lights is just that. It's mostly clean, with just a little bit if a musky/aquatic kick. Exactly what I was looking for: aquatic, clean, musk, in that order, and Profondo Lights does a phenomenal job at achieving it.
