I had been using my old reliable Bell bike helmet while on my new E-bike - it still looked like new, right? That's until I thought to check the date inside it. More than 15 years old!! In the bin it went. This Giro Fixture helmet is the perfect replacement for my old fossilized Bell helmet. Here's a rundown:** I was worried about the "one-size-fits-all" thing - usually this means "one size fits some". But not in this case. It is comfortable, fits snugly on my somewhat oddly shaped head and is simple to adjust with a twist of the dial.** Good airflow through the helmet on hot days.** Lightweight - hardly know I have it on.

It was great to find this helmet with MIPS technology in a helmet for bigger heads. I had looked far and wide for one to fit my hubby and this one from Cambria Bike finally fit the bill (or Rick in this case). Only one small prob. Wish the chin straps were a bit longer. The man had to pull them all the way to fit under his chin. He does like the matte gray color of the helmet.

I grew up with out wearing a helmet. My wife while owning a helmet rarely wore it until we got a trailer for our son. Once we had a trailer her and our son both always wore their helmets. The trailer is set up For my wife's bike. Last week I wanted to take the little guy out so i got my wife’s bike out and the trailer. As i was getting the little guy situated with his helmet my wife suggested i wear her helmet to be safe. I tried on her giro fixture and amazingly it fit very well. it was super easy to adjust to my head felt soooo light and i could not believe how much air got in on my ride. I am not thinking i need to buy my one but in gray

My head circumference is right at the upper limit of what the regular-sized helmet is stated to fit (61 cm circumference). This fact would have made me get the XL helmet instead, but I wanted to get the helmet in neon green for some extra visibility, and unfortunately they only make the XL helmets in white or black. However, since I am technically within the range of sizes the regular sized helmet is meant to fit, I figured it would probably be fine.Unfortunately, despite my head circumference being within the regular-sized helmet's stated range, it doesn't fit very well - even at its loosest setting, it's tight to put on and fits poorly. In particular, I need to wear it really far back on my head so that it doesn't squeeze the hell out of my head. In particular, I need to wear it really far back on my head so that it doesn't squeeze the hell out of my head. Unfortunately, this means I wear it so far back that the detachable visor doesn't block any sunlight at all.Aside from that, the helmet is pretty breathable, or at least it's way more breathable than the helmet I had as a kid. And if I could actually wear the helmet in the proper position without strangling my head, the visor would block sunlight that comes from a high angle. It's just that it's too tight to wear properly, despite the fact that they say it should fit me. Therefore, 3 out of 5 - they shouldn't say that it fits a head circumference of 61 cm, because it doesn't.I'm going to see if I can return the helmet or exchange it for an XL, because it is a good helmet aside from the fit.
Great helmet for bigger heads. Giro quality and MIPS! The color is not even close to the picture on the site. It looks like a primer/medium grey. My helmet was a very off white with a hint of grey. It fit so well I could deal with the poor photo proofing versus the actual product. REI really needs to do some quality control with their photo team. A lot of stuff I have gone to pick or buy has been drastically off. I work in the apparel industry and use expensive ViewSonic color true monitors and deal with PMS shades all day.
The first time i went on a bike ride with my wife when we were dating she wore a helmet as did i. She is a nurse so i was not surprised. The next time we went her helmet stayed in her bag and mine was on my head. Rarely after that have i ever seen her with her helmet on although it is always in her bag. Since she never wore hers when i left mine at a stop during a ride i never replaced it.This spring she did occasionally would wear her helmet and asked me where mine was. When i told her i lost it she even offered to let me wear hers for a ride so i would be safe. I decided after she asked that i just needed to get a helmet. Neither my husband or I had bike helmets. When I started riding more frequently my parents gave me a “helmet” well a vintage leather hairnet lol. I wore it only a few times mostly with my parents and as my husband pointed out it offered no protection. He suggested if i were to go to the effort of wearing a “helmet” i should get a modern helmet that offered some protection. I then saw the giro fixture in red and new i needed to get it. wore it On the first ride with it I noticed it had an awesome fit and i was really happy with the number of vents and how light it was. It is so well vented, light, and comfortable you don’t even know you have it on. Yesterday we decided on an all day ride and 1/2 way through i handed it to my husband and said he needed to try it. I bought this helmet a few weeks back at the sale price ($50 or so), and it has served me well! No crashes yet, so I can't attest to the durability-upon-impact, but the fit is great with ample room for adjustments. The chin strap does adjust a few inches, and I keep it somewhere in the middle of that range. The best adjustment feature though is the knob on the back which allows the whole helmet to cinch around your head, allowing for a really secure fit -- super easy to adjust on the fly, if needed.Only (very slight) disappointment so far is that the printed logo on the sides of the helmet looks to be peeling off ever so slightly. I noticed this as soon as I pulled it out of the box. It doesn't seem to have come off any further since I first got it, and maybe I ... MoreI bought this helmet a few weeks back at the sale price ($50 or so), and it has served me well! Good quality and great comfort so far.
Vents well and delivers a very good adjustment on the rear side allowing you to get a good fit and a solid click so your helmet wont get loose. The straps are good and feature a good nylon fabric which is both durable and good in comfort. The vents arent bad and are frequent throughout the helmet. Because of the last feature you may get helmet hair from the vents. Besides that its pretty solid. MIPS is included and is present as the helmet liner shifts with the rear of your skull.
Neither my wife or I really wore a bike helmet. My wife has an old white hard shell troxel from when she was a teenager that she rarely wears. She will wear it once or twice a year and even sometimes just clip it to her backpack. She will often ask why i dont own a helmet and often reminds me i can wear hers if i go out alone. After a particularly fast ride last summer I wore it on the next ride and felt much safer. When I returned home my wife saw me with her helmet and asked why i did not just buy one, adding that she would not expect me to always wear it. I saw the fixture in yellow on.sale at dsg tried it on and bought it. Last week as we were headed out i put it on. My wife naturally wore hers. Halfway through she asked …no begged to try my helmet .
