I think good helmets should be like good saddles - you don't notice them at all while you're riding! This helmet is super comfortable, provides great coverage, fairly lightweight, and is just easy to live with. Also looks great which is a bonus. Haven't ridden a Giro helmet in quite a few years - will have to look at their other offerings.

I wear Smith helmets for skiing so I tried a couple of those when it came to buying a half-shell MTB helmet. Although they met my expectation of quality, they did not fit my head well. Notably, I shave my head, and the MIPS "nubs" in Smith's helmets felt like they were raw, hard plastic just resting on my skull. It was painful to wear just casually let alone taking an impact.By contrast, the Giro Radix slipped right onto my head and the difference in fit / comfort was night and day. I was right in the range for MD and a MD fit perfectly with some room for adjustment in both directions. The helmet is extremely light and breezy and I forget it's on my head moments after it's on.Zero complaints with this one. Price is right too. Would buy another right away if I ... MoreI wear Smith helmets for skiing so I tried a couple of those when it came to buying a half-shell MTB helmet. Love this helmet… great fit and safety … only drawback is on a long ride, there is a pressure point that creates a sore spot on the crown of my head. I will need to figure out a solution for this. Otherwise, all great!

I've been mountain biking since the early 90's, and have owned a lot of bike helmets. Seemed about time to replace mine, and wanted to try a MIPS model.I saw an online review that said this helmet was well-vented, and it does seem to deliver in that respect. I was able to mount my older Cygolite Expilion light on it using the helmet mount kit, and also a "Take a look" helmet mirror on the visor with no issues (I ride roads sometimes on the way to the trails, and have some neck mobility issues from an old injury, hence the mirror).Fit is comfortable and adjustable. Side straps perfect as they were, no adjustment needed there. Seems to be a well thought out product.
In 2014, I tried a Giro and didn't like the fit... Bell seemed like the best fit for my ovalish 58cm head, so I've been using the 2014 Bell Stoker. Finally time to replace it, so I tried whatever REI had in stock... Bontrager (medium was ok), Smith (medium way too tight, large way too big). Decided to order this Giro Radix in medium to try out and I'm really glad I did. The fit is not only better than whatever model Giro I tried on in 2014, but even better than my Bell Stoker, which now seems like it fits poorly compared to the Radix. Fits my head perfectly, the ventilation is much better than my Bell Stoker, and it's lower profile on my head. I was ready to shell out $150-200 for something that fit amazing and the Radix surprised me at this price point. Only thing ... MoreIn 2014, I tried a Giro and didn't like the fit... I use this helmet a couple times a week in the summer months for trail rides around Bend, Oregon. It's really comfortable and well vented to provide good air flow and keeps my noggin cool. I've had the helmet for one season and expect it'll last well. I've always had a good experience with the durability of Giro helmets.
First off, the colour isn't exactly to my taste, but my options were limited. At the very least, it's not offensive and matches my bike, hahaha!Great helmet as usual from Giro. Giro bike helmets just fit my head perfectly. This one is lightweight, very well-vented for hot summer rides, the straps are easy to adjust, and the visor is large enough to keep sun out of my eyes, but small enough to be fairly inobtrusive. All in all, I am very happy with this helmet!
The last time i wore a helmet there was a Bush in office ;) My husband and our girls wear helmets on almost every ride. When i started joining them frequently on rides my husband bought me a helmet however i made sure it got lost in the move. Last year we started riding with my sisters family. As my brother in law is a neurologist and my sister is a nurse they are pretty serious about helmets. They casually asked where my helmet was on a ride but did not push the issue. This year they asked about taking a group ride tour of town in a few weeks and mentioned helmets were required. I was going to pass but instead decided it was time to get a helmet. I found the radix in red which matched my bike and ordered it in medium. When it came I slipped it on and was instantly impressed with how well it fit and felt. Not heavy but comfortable and secure. On the first ride it did not move about on my head or i interfere with my sun glasses. After 20 miles i was sold. I am looking forward to many more rides with this helmet
Overall I like the helmet. I think it is a good looking helmet with style when riding a mountain bike.Used it for trail biking in the woods, feels comfortable and well protected.Fits my head very well. The size adjustment is very smooth and and has good range tofit people head. I don't feel it causes any problem in hot day's biking as some people mentioned that MIPS helmet may make bikers feel hot.The visor is ok and could be better. I feel the visor is soft and I'd prefer it were mademore solid and stronger.
My husband and I are both occasional bikers. My husband purchased a giro radix helmet to replace his decades old helmet that he rarely wore. He liked the bright red color and wears it on his longer rides. I was off on a ride with my adult kids and decided to wear his helmet since they like to ride city streets. The fit was nice it is highly visible and it is very well vented. I had a helmet years ago and detested it. This one is soo much better
