Glossier - Lash Slick Lift and Lengthening Mascara - Brown - 8.5g

Lash Slick has gotten me through many a night of heartache, parties, hot summers, extra shifts… just about anything you can imagine, really. In fact, it’s been my most reliable mascara, most recommended, and most purchased Glossier product since release. I can’t even remember a time where I haven’t carried at least two pink little tubes of magic on my physical person. It delivers everything it promises: length, a little color, and easy removal only when you want it - all with the unmitigated grace and poise similar to that of Matilda’s own Miss Honey. I would think, “it doesn’t get better than this, this is THE mascara that fits the bill.” It’s got your back: the last step for a night out, your best friend’s wedding, and a reliable boost of confidence when you’re visiting home and popping into the grocery store where you know you could run into a potential ex. The lesson? Date out of your home town when you can, but do carry Lash Slick in case of emergency. How could it get better, you ask? Well, imagine my (admittedly tiny, knowing what I know) surprise when I see Lash Slick in Brown - I’ve never sped through online checkout faster in my life. I waited what felt like forever (standard shipping coupled with no sense of time), and finally, it was here. And, once again, it delivered - everything to love from the tried and true OG Lash Slick, but softer. If OG Lash Slick is the edgy, older sister, the newest version in Brown is your best friend since childhood: sleepovers, pinky promises, and you in your most “you” state. Trust me on this one, and try it for yourself.

I absolutely love the brand Glossier as it’s perfect for minimal makeup; however, this product unfortunately wasn’t for me. I purchased the glossier lash slick a few months ago and had to return it as I had an allergic reaction. The mascara caused my eyelids to become puffy and when I washed it off, there were a lot of eyelashes that came off compared to a typical mascara removal. The wand itself is quite flimsy and only allows for the lashes to be coated in product so if you’re looking for a mascara that lengthens or adds volume, this simply isn’t it. As it dried on my lashes it continued to harden them to the point where they looked very stiff. While this was my experience, I do still think that if your looking for something minimal to coat your bottom lashes or on days where you don’t want to wear a ton of makeup this may work. I just strongly suggest testing it first to see if it causes a reaction before you commit to it. I don’t believe this mascara is a reflection of the brand as I have a ton of holy grail Glossier products in my collection but to reiterate my opening comment, this product was not for me.

I curled my lashes and used my current Covergirl drugstore mascara on one eye and Lash Slick on the other.• Application: I do feel like Lash Slick applied smoother, in a slick way like butter. But I did find it a little difficult to get into the corners of my lashes at either end because the brush head is long and straight. My drugstore brush is slightly curved and a bit smaller so I find it easier to get all my lashes with it.• Look: Lash Slick definitely gave a very natural, “your lashes but better” look. It lengthened them in a natural way, but didn’t add any volume. At the end of the day, I had about 10 flakes on my cheek with Lash Slick, and only a couple on the drugstore side. So Glossier did flake off more.• Overall: If you’re looking for a more subtle mascara to wear with light, “no-makeup makeup” looks, I could see this working. For me, I felt like it isn’t necessarily worth the price when various drugstore brands can perform the same or better. I actually feel like it gives an extremely similar natural look as Maybelline Great Lash (the OG pink tube with the green cap), which you can get for half the price. I think I’ll finish up this tube of Lash Slick but wouldn’t repurchase.
