Got this about a couple days ago, have had some time to put it through its paces. Takes about 1.5-3 hours to get a full charge from an outlet, ain't too bad in my book. I like the indicator bar letting me know how much power is left. No throttling once it gets low, appears to charge at the same speed it did when it was full. Charged my phone from around 11% to up to 96% in 1 hour and 56 minutes, while I was playing Mario Kart. Held a charge while in my drawer, then charged my wife's phone no probllamas. She plugged it in and left it in her purse while she went and ran her errands. Make sure and have your own charging cable specific to the phone, as this does not come with one. Worth the money, as our phones are flashlights, boredom busters and signaling devices. ... MoreGot this about a couple days ago, have had some time to put it through its paces. Been caught out with a dead phone (not for Mario Kart reasons) needing to get help and it was a fairly tough day, if you're planning on bringing your phone on your next adventure, bring one of these along as well.

This is a combined review for the Goal Zero Flip 24 Power Bank and the Goal Zero Nomad 10 Solar Panel. The power bank easily snaps in and out of the “holder” on the solar panel. Together, they are small, lightweight and don’t take up much room in my knapsack. I can get a full charge on the nearly empty power bank in about 3 hours of full sunlight. The power bank will completely charge my depleted phone in about the same amount of time. That said, I only get one full charge of the phone out of the power bank, with just enough left over to top off my headlamp. (My phone has a 5000mAh battery, if that makes a difference.) I noticed some reviews said that the panel overheated or caused the power bank to overheat and shut off charging. I’ve successfully avoided this ever ... MoreThis is a combined review for the Goal Zero Flip 24 Power Bank and the Goal Zero Nomad 10 Solar Panel. I’ve successfully avoided this ever happening by putting the panel and power bank on a small folding stool, and it seems that having airflow underneath the panel and powerbank is important to prevent overheating. I used this in the hiking to Cloud Rest Trail. Recently, my old iPhone tend to discharge quickly and the battery became almost 0% at the peak. I charged my iPhone at the peak with this, in 20min or so, it became about 85%, so quick and easy. What I noticed was it stopped charging at less than 90%. I don't know this is caused by iPhone side reason or Flip 24 side, but any way it did not reach to 100%.I'm planning to use this combining with Nomad 10 Solar Panel. I already purchased it and tested at home. It looks working as expected, and will help me for long backpacking trip in the future.

Bought for a bikepacking trip and it worked out great! Small size, lightweight, it fit in my bike bag easily and kept my phone charged for navigating and charged my headlamp when it unexpectedly died. Held just enough charge for a two day trip. Recharges fast. Now I carry it every day in my purse for emergency charges.
I have been using this for a couple of weeks now and here's how I like to think about it: it holds about four hours worth of energy. Now, how you spend that four hours will dictate what it is able to accomplish.Like, if you plug it into a solar panel and have it sitting in full sun for four hours, it will be charged. But have it in partial sun for four hours, it will only be partially charged.Similarly, if you plug in your phone while it is turned off, this guy will charge it fully with enough to charge another phone in a similar state. But if you have it plugged in while it is running youtube and getting texts every minute, you are not going to get the same result after a couple of hours. It gets the job done. But you have to be smart about it. I could see how ... MoreI have been using this for a couple of weeks now and here's how I like to think about it: it holds about four hours worth of energy. The block is actually REALLY awkward to charge. It was clearly made to be used with the solar charger this brand makes. The only input source is a rotating external USB “charging tip” that you plug directly into a wall plug.. and it falls out of every single one I own but one. I’m rating it a 3 because once charged, it works great for backpacking (light weight, great size, brought my phone up to full charge from 20% and only exhausted 1/4 of the available charge)
I’ve had this power bank for a couple of weeks now, used it almost daily. It holds a charge well but it took a bit of figuring out. I use a wall outlet to recharge it, and my USB port wasn’t powerful enough so I had to find a stronger one. Also the way it sticks out of the wall is unstable so I prop it up with books and boxes. I’ve used this powerbank for my phone and a small fan. It will run the fan for about 6 hours continuously before dying which is good for my needs.Overall I’m glad I have this and can see it being used a lot.
I had been advised that charging a Power Bank when hiking is easier to do than charging one's phone directly from a solar panel. I found the opposite to be true. The powerbank was unreliable, sometimes charging sometimes not. Ended up mailing it home from Tuolumne Meadows with note to self to return to REI. I believe my unit was defective because it never moved beyond the one-blue-light level. Maybe in a city where you can plug a power bank into a proper outlet it could work. Not worth it for the backcountry.
Works great. Charges two phones as advertised. It charges up reasonably quickly and charges phones reasonably quickly, faster than charging off of my car stereo. Couple of times I have found that my iphone did not recognize the device. When I turned off my phone and turned it back on, problem solved. I’ve used on anumber of multi day backpacking trips. Good product. I’ve had poor results with some of the chargers that you buy off Amazon from Noname companies, so I would definitely recommend getting this instead if you’re gonna be out there and really need it
I have a Nomad 5 with both flip 12 and flip 24 power banks. The flip 12 doesn't really hold enough to fully charge my iPhone X. Last month I had the iPhone battery replaced by Apple so I know my phone's battery is not the issue. The flip24 takes about 6-8 hours to charge from the Nomad 5 and about 3 hours or so to charge the iPhone. It works great around base camp or at any stationary setup. Can definitely keep your phone going while hiking off-grid. I also use it to charge my Garmin watch (I run marathons) and my Bose micro speaker as well as AirPods. For the price its a no-brainer if you spend any time outside and want to keep your gear charged. It also does pass thru charging so you can use the included clip to hook it to a backpack with the flip24 snapped ... MoreI have a Nomad 5 with both flip 12 and flip 24 power banks. Pretty cool!I see some people have snapped and broken their flip24. I am very careful and have't had any issues.Hope this helps. Also in the pics you can see the Nomad 5 typically gets 4.6-4.8 volts in full sun.4 stars. I would go 5 if the hinge was more robust.
