Parfums De Marly Godolphin Eau De Parfum Spray 125ml
Godolphin Cologne by Parfums de Marly, Godolphin is a rich and powerful scent for men that exudes an air of luxurious and yet unpretentious masculinity. It opens in a burst of sweetness and spice, featuring top notes of bittersweet mate, spicy thyme, and earthy saffron. Woody cypress provides a complement to the fresh green notes and hints of fruit. Middle notes of rose, jasmine, and orris provide a touch of floral elegance, while a deep base note of leather gives the scent its strong, sensual foundation. The base is laced through with notes of vetiver and cedar, along with rich amber, musk, and a touch of vanilla. The french perfume house parfums de marly aims to capture the opulent splendor of the eighteenth century. During this era, king louis the xv requested a different scent each day for his royal apartments, prompting a burst of creations from french perfumeries. Some of the best scents were designed to commemorate prestigious horse races. Named for the castle that louis the xv dedicated to the wellbeing of horses, parfums de marly draws its inspiration from this story. Designed by the nose michelle saramito, the scent godophin is named for one of the famous arabian stallions who sired the entire bloodline of thoroughbred horses which are used for racing today.

I know this is all subjective but I could not disagree more with Valeriu’s review. This does not smell like Red Tobacco by Mancera. If you look at Layton’s Fragrantica page you will not see a single vote for Red Tobacco in the “this reminds me of” section, nor will you see it mentioned in a single review.Red Tobacco smells incredibly similar (almost identical, with very slight differences) to another Parfums de Marly fragrance, called Carlisle, maybe this is what Valeriu means and there’s been a bit of confusion. Red Tobacco and Layton both have a good amount of Vanilla in them, as well as a mixture of sweetness and spices, so they aren’t exactly chalk and cheese, but to say that they smell identical and that you can buy one instead of the other just doesn’t match ... MoreI know this is all subjective but I could not disagree more with Valeriu’s review. (Source - I own Layton, Red Tobacco and Carlisle, and have worn them all a lot recently)Layton is a gorgeous fragrance. Very gourmand and vanilla heavy (I’ve seen it compared to an apple pie) but it’s the addition of that menthol note (which may smell a bit unusual at first, but give it time and you’ll grow to adore it) that really gives this a lot more versatility and interest than just a standard autumn/winter fragrance. Performance is amazing as well, just lasts and projects like a beast. Mass pleasing but unique at the same time.Whilst I prefer Herod myself (even with it’s terrible performance), there’s no denying that this has to be one of the best crowd-pleasing niche scents out there, as well as one of the most versatile. I can’t imagine wearing this and a single person who smells you not thinking “wow”. Gorgeous stuff.Ps. Since we’re talking about Red Tobacco, it is also a gorgeous fragrance that lasts FOREVER and fills a room with just a couple of sprays. The opening is harsh but once it settles (after a couple of hours) it’s absolutely beautiful. It doesn’t smell like Layton imo but it’s still definitely worth picking up if you like sweet vanilla spicey scents.

This seller "almost" had me. I should have known better than to pay less than $200 for a bottle of PDM Layton. What this sad excuse of a seller didn't know is that I'm very educated in fragrances, so much that the box alone was a telltale sign that this was a phony product. Still, I entertained the idea and went for it anyway. The cap was loose, the bottle was wrong, and the batch code didn't even register."But what do you have to go on, Mr. Educated?"Glad you asked... I have a REAL bottle of PDM Layton that I compared to, as well as looked up the batch codes on both. To no surprise, my real bottle registered a legitimate formula date. The imitation one? You guess it, did not.Anyone who buys from this "seller" is flirting with imitation. And if the seller is ... MoreThis seller "almost" had me. Pegasus is known for its unrivalled structure of fern warmed by sweet vanilla and creamy almond. To me this is the unique perfume from PDM.Been wanting this for a long time and thanks to Friday Charm for it's international niche spread. In fact you are spoilt for choice on seeing the smorgasbord of fragrances.Opening --> Fresh cypress, bergamot alongside nutty almond.Base --> Vanilla, amber and sandalwood. You can do a blind buy. You won't regret it. In case you find the performance a little on the lower side, let it macerate for a while, it'll get stronger.Cheers!

The watery notes add a bit of expressiveness to the bouquet. In the "heart" of the fragrance we find pink and gardenia arrangements contrasted with a geranium touch and with a tender and almost imperceptible water lily. Zibet notes give an animal-like feel to the perfume. The base is formed by Paraguay's guaiac accords, Laos agarwood, Indonesia's patchouli, and an extraordinary Ceylon sandal. The notes of amber and moss seasoned with pink pepper and vanilla soften the woody nuances making the composition rich and enveloping. A pinch of coffee adds a sensual and expressive touch." - a note from the brand. Layton Exclusif topples the original and climbs to rank #1 in my fragrance wardrobe just due to how it is artfully blended. That oud simply elevates this composition from a mass appealing introductory fragrance in Layton, to something uniquely and posh in Exclusif! The woody notes are definitely amped up in this one, compared to the original. This one also leans more masculine! I do get a glimpse of the original mid-way through on this one. However, the ambroxan in this one is not as noticeable as in the original (thankfully). The fruits are present but more in the background, the coffee blends perfectly with the vanilla. It does have a bit of medicinal feel to it but in the most appealing way possible. The animalistic feel you get from the civet ties this into the unique PDM scent that stands out from my collection. The only problem with this scent, it loses the mass appeal that the OG has, but for me this is a big plus is definitely more unique and more of an acquired taste! This fragrance performs like a workaholic absentee father (24 hours+, 7-8 hours of solid projection) and this is one of the few "animalic" (but more aptly just woody and dark) perfumes that I've gotten complimented on.
I heard this was a popular unisex perfume on the market and I purchased a decant of it from scentbox. Oh my god this is such a lovely fragrance. I think it's more masculine leaning but I think certain outfits can pull this scent off for a woman. I've never liked tobacco fragrances, but this was such a lovely blend of so many different notes. I think it's hard to replicate this blend because I haven't smelled anything so smooth and creamy before. The cinnamon and tobacco are such a beautiful blend, and I can really see why this is so popular amongst fragrance influencers. I think it's very appealing and manny people will definitely enjoy it. The dry down is so much better than the sharp opening
When the heat of the Summer days turn to cool nights I get excited, as some fragrances really are seasonal. It was September. The cool, Dewey nights arrived here in Kentucky. Just as I can’t wait to drag out all of my Fall and Winter clothing, cute hats, scarves, gloves and boots, I can’t wait to get out my special Fall/Winter fragrances. It’s arrived, sweater weather. Herod to me reminds me of high school and the first time I snuck into the smoke shop at the mall. The shop had this incredible aroma of tobacco, cherry, cigar, vanilla and spice, and this is Herod. Herod is a familiar scent to me from scent memory, but being able to find that in a fragrance, I knew I had to have this in my collection. It’s so well done. It stands out. It’s unisex. Herod is a familiar scent to me from scent memory, but being able to find that in a fragrance, I knew I had to have this in my collection. It’s so well done. It stands out. It’s unisex. It’s both black tie, and chic comfortable, it’s versatile. It does sit closer to the skin, but I feel that is exactly how it should be with this genre of fragrance, otherwise, it would choke people out, I find it projects a little more as my skin warms up. Blind buy worthy? If you are a fan of tobacco fragrances, absolutely! I love cherry tobacco, Back to Back by Kilian is one of my favorites and this is sits proudly next to it. The cinnamon in this is a dry cinnamon. For me personally, it’s a tad too much the first 20 minutes but then settles down and you are left with a sweet, spicy, deep cherry pipe tobacco scent. Swoon. You had me at hello.
I don’t understand how everyone male or female is completely blown away by Layton. The older batches are much better, in every category. Yet again, perfumery’s dumb, biased, conflict of interest regulation standards ruining another popular fragrance. The new batches after the formula changed from 78% to 82% didn’t have the god awful cherry/fruity robitussin cough syrup smell. $400+ for this should be a felony. That being said, layering the new batches with YSL La Nuit de L’homme or LNDL’h Bleu Electrique and now we’re talking about something that goes from average to above average and doesn’t smell so medicinal anymore. You can buy so many better niche fragrances than this one for the price point. It’s worth $175 max for 125ml.
The opening is a blast of blood orange, black pepper and lavender. Its this opening that can turn alot of people away but they would truly be missing out and a amazing scent. As it drys down you pick up the spice yet a nice hint of freshness all at the same time. This has amazing performance and projection, a solid 8-10hrs on skin and 1-2ft of projection. This is a somewhat complex scent to pull off so if you arent comfortable with that this might not be for you. I adore this scent and glad to have it in my collection. Please try to sample this and test the opening and dry down on skin, you will not be let down.
