Godox Umbrella Softbox 95cm With Grid - S-Type
The GODOX SB-UE series softbox not only saves valuable time, but also makes it easier to work on the set. This is possible thanks to the frame, which uses the principle of the umbrella. The plating fabric is stretched and held in tension by a structure whose rods are made of elastic steel. If necessary, the softbox can be folded and stored in the case in a few seconds.High qualityThe plating is made of a rip-stop nylon fabric, softboxes are very resistant to mechanical damage, and at the same time very light. The interior is finished with a silver screen that evenly distributes the light on the diffusers. In addition to the main scattering layer, the softbox is equipped with an additional internal diffuser, made of white material with a high coefficient of light scattering. In the front part there is a collar used to mount the honeycomb (not included in the set). BowensSoftbox is equipped with a Bowens mounting ring. It can be used with products from other brands using the same mounting.

Review is for Godox 37" Octagon Softbox with Bowens Speedring, Grid and Hook-and-Loop Fastener (aka Velcro).Unlike most inexpensive softbox that are pretty much guaranteed to break by the third use, the build quality of this Godox 37” Octabox is fairly decent. The Nylon material used is thicker and better overall in comparison to most generic softbox that usually comes as part of a kit.The speedring included is also decent. However, the Bowens insert is a little smaller for the speedring causing about 0.5mm gap from side-to-side if the insert is centered. Speaking of, since the insert is small for the speedring, it needs to be dead-on centered for all holding nuts to secure it in place. One solution is increasing the holding nuts’ coverage area by adding a small washer. There are no instructions of any kind included but assembly is straight forward. I’ve read quite a bit of comments/complaints about the difficulties of assembling this softbox. For those who are not familiar in assembling a softbox, at least this one, the speedring has a set of numberings aligned with the side holes. Ignore all the “3’s”, you only need the “1’s” and “2’s”. Each side of the softbox has a small pocket to install the rods in. My suggestion is 1) Install two rods on the softbox first, across from each other (North/South) 2) Choose either 1s or 2’s on the speedring to install the other end of these two rods. 3) Follow steps #1 and #2 for the (East/West) rods. 4) Follow steps #1, #2 and #3 for the four remaining rods. Whether you decide to tear it down or keep it assembled after your shoot is up to you.Overall, for the price this Godox Octobox is worth the money. It's built quality and material are fairly decent and comes with soft carrying case. If it weren’t for the “loose” speeding insert, I would’ve given it a five star.

As with any (budget friendly) soft box, setup is not quick. If it's going to stay up in your studio, or any other controlled, predictable environment where you have time, perfect. If you need to travel and be flexible, best to pony up for something that sets up and collapses quickly. My only gripe, and it's a small one: the rods don't fit in the carry bag that it comes with ... but it does come with a carry bag!

Great softbox, it makes wonders to my light. It's a bit tricky to assemble and disassemble, but once you set it up that first time you realize about the build quality of this softbox and it's elements. It came with the grid and I really like using it, it's very useful when you have to shoot in tight spaces (I bought the 37.4"), you can control the light dispersion without losing quality or adding "negative elements" on the softening effect.

I just received my Godox Octa Softbox with Bowens speed ring & grid. It came with NO INSTRUCTIONS! Thankfully, Brandon from East Ivory Photography (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ix91EnQAYbs) had a great Youtube video on putting this thing together and taking it apart. I had it fully assembled in 5 minutes. As soon as my S-type Speedlite bracket arrives, I will start shooting with it, at which time I will update my review. Shout out to Brandon for a great video to help people out and save us some stress. Godox should at least have a piece of paper referring people to Youtube if they can't bother with instructions.
The Godox 37.4” Octa Softbox with speed ring appears to be a great product. The softbox material seems to be every bit as strong and solid as my Elinchrom softboxes & speed rings which have held up very well over the years. Yes, as other reviewers have commented, it is a pain to put together and tear down, but I expected that’s the nature of softboxes with speed rings. There are no instructions included, but if you has any previous experience with speed rings, it is not hard to figure out. My only real complaint about the particular unit I received is that the inner diffusion panel is far too small to attach inside. So, until I purchase some Velcro strips to extend the reach of the strips inside the softbox, I’ll be using it with just the outer diffusion panel and grid. The softbox and speed ring fit the Godox AD-B2 dual unit mount perfectly. Even with just the outer panel and grid, the quality of light using a single AD200 Pro is great. This Octa Softbox will have a permanent place in my small home studio. I would recommend it others. It cannot be beat for the price!
Based upon price this is a great value especially if you will be keeping set up and not breaking it down for travel. Fairly good diffusion, however I light through another piece of diffusion utilizing Amaran 100x. Good for home studio for Zoom and Livestreams. Additional diffusion might cause you to raise ISO a bit. I would not recommend if you are going to take down and setup for travel. Takes some effort and time to set up, especially the first time. I was concern the amount of effort might break or bend some of the ribs. Luckily all ribs survived setup.
I purchased this after buying a Godox DP400III Studio flash and finding that my existing Rapid Box Switch softboxes were hitting the modeling lamp. It does require assembly and although there are no printed instructions you can go to YouTube to see how to assemble it. Assembly was pretty easy and once you have it put together you can fold it back down like an umbrella. Getting a grid included was a huge bonus and the quality of light from this softbox is really good - much better than the smaller 28 inch softbox that I was using previously.
I know it sounds bad, but I bought this Godox softbox for my new Westcott FJ 400. It was such a great deal. I will say that I don't take it apart because it is a pain to put together. One of the cost cutting measures was that it doesn't have full length pockets for the support rods. So that makes it a mess when you take it off the speedrings. I guess that's what you get when you pay more for the more expensive boxes.
The octabox come in a very nice compact carry bag which holds everything. The package contains a speed ring so you won't have to purchase it separately and it's a Bowens mount. Major compatibility with lots of lights and strobes out there. Comes with 2 diffusers, one sits closer to the light source and the other (bigger one) sits towards the outer side of the octabox. This gave me more control over how much light I want on my set. As a bonus, this octabox also comes with an egg crate grid diffuser too. The materials are of relatively good quality. There aren't many instructions on how to setup this octabox so I highly recommend watching an ASSEMBLY and DISASSEMBLY tutorial on YouTube because it'll be difficult if you don't understand the process and risk damaging ... MoreThe octabox come in a very nice compact carry bag which holds everything. After buying my first aputure amaran 100x I needed a modifier. I was looking at the aputure options and saw these as a much cheaper alternative. I watched some comparison reviews of shallow octaboxes and deep parabolic light domes. There seemed to be no real benefit to me. The light domes are very deep however and would take up too much space in my studio. After receiving this octa box I'm very happy with my decision. I put it together in about 2 minutes.Pro tip: The little pockets where you stick the metal rods are extremely stiff and closed. I used the sharp end of a pen to open each pocket before trying to insert the rods. That saved a lot of time.I used this with the grid and both diffusers and it wasn't as bright as I would like so I removed one of the ... MoreAfter buying my first aputure amaran 100x I needed a modifier. I used it like this for about 6 shoots and then tried a shoot without the grid. The light was at least twice as bright without the grid. So unless you really need the grid I would skip it.
