A Few Days in Testing - Battery Life!?

For instance, you can set different ranges for zoom depending on the type of lenses you use. A can be set for 70mm, B for 100mm and so forth. This allows you to quickly set the flash power according to the selected zone to correspond to your focal length. I've only scratched the surface with the settings. However, what I have noticed quickly after using the trigger for a few days is the battery life. This thing chews through batteries like rats in a New York alley. I used to have the Godox X1T-S TTL, and the battery lasted a long time. I don't even remember when I charged it, and I had it for over a year. I can't get through a day with this trigger without changing batteries. I don't know, maybe it's user error but if you buy this trigger, make sure you have plenty of batteries.

Auto White Balance Issue

While this trigger is full featured, Godox seems to have made a big mistake. The trigger causes the camera's auto white balance to be warmer than it should. This is a well documented issue, talked about by Nathan Cool Photo and others. A solution is to use the Canon version on Sony cameras, or tape over (or destroy) the extra pins on the flash. Doing so shows a night and day difference in white balance, with the more 'dumb' flash connection working correctly. I'd advise to any other Sony users to get the Canon version. It won't have its full functionality, but your white balance will be correct, particularly for real estate photography. Note, B&H staff has replied to a question regarding this issue and incorrectly stated that the issue has been fixed in firmware. ... MoreWhile this trigger is full featured, Godox seems to have made a big mistake. These are fantastic. When I made the switch to Godox ans Sony mirrorless. this was the remote I bought. I can control all four of my lights easily. TTL works great. The battery life is great. The build is not as good as Profoto. I did break a battery door, but at $69 who cares!

Fantastic little transmitter, eats through batteries
15 March 2022

This transmitter is fantastic, the display is nice and large, and quite bright with the backlight on. Being able to quickly adjust settings by channel is so convenient when in the middle of a studio photo shoot. The autofocus grid is nice, but only shoots the grid in the center of the frame which is kinda useless if your subject isn't centered. The reason it lost a star is because the batteries. I really wish it used a rechargeable because it eats through AA batteries. With some settings changes (decreasing range, turning the backlight off) can certainly help, but dang it still just loves to swallow batts. Make sure you bring extras to fuel this little guy.

Great, but handle with care
22 July 2021

A great little unit. Instantly pairs with my Godox V1 and hasn't had a misfire. Two reasons I can't give it 5-stars:1. the clear plastic screen is super soft plastic. Stored it in a pouch where my stack caps are and it got a scratch that rendered the screen difficult to view - it was in there, within a wrapped up zip lock bag, and not loose within that shared pouch at all for no more than 1 hour of light backpack movement. I take blame for the scratch, although I've never encountered such soft plastic... store it separately (an included pouch from Godox would have been nice - the one that comes with the V1 is stellar)! Having to buy another one now and learn from that costly mistake.2. When the V1 is in my camera hotshoe, I can set it the Manual flash intensity ... MoreA great little unit. When in RX mode, the XPro only goes down to 1/128 in Manual. Seems like a firmware problem? If my flash can do 1/256, I sure want that 1/256 capability however I use the flash... whether on-camera or off-camera via the XPro.Great, almost perfect, but falls a little short.

It's Okay
24 May 2022

So I like the Godox system for the most part. This tigger functions much better than the smaller x1 as far as menus and consistent flash trigger. Sometimes power may fluctuate a little and there are still misfires occasionally, but not nearly as bad as the x1. Wish they weren't made in china because these triggers and lot of other Godox gear are not rugged enough in my opinion. I've been through several Godox triggers/flashes. The mounts break. The internal screws that hold them together are tiny and the plastic is fragile. This trigger sticks up high which puts a lot of leverage on the base if it gets even slight bumps. We don't all work in white clean studios. Bumps happen. But, its fairly inexpensive and replaceable. Warranty is pointless though. Always keep two ... MoreSo I like the Godox system for the most part. This tigger functions much better than the smaller x1 as far as menus and consistent flash trigger. Terrible Documentation
25 November 2022

Still have not got it working because the documentation is lousy. Print size is tiny - hard to read. No good examples. I will struggle to make it work eventually, but I would recommend a Flash Trigger that has decent documentation with examples and maybe a YouTube video on how to set it up with the flash unit and examples of the different options. GODOX IS NOT GOOD AT DOCUMENTATION!

This remote should be the bar for all
3 January 2023

I recently moved from a competitor system to Godox because I couldn't get replacement remotes for their lights any longer. After a little research, I chose all XPro compatible gear and am THRILLED with my choice so far. Without reading the included manual, this remote is the most intuitive I've used, and the settings are easy to manipulate. It's absolutely feature-packed and on my Sony cameras, simply turning the remote on and off will trigger the exposure view on the monitor/EVF. No need to detach the remote or wait for it to sync. And the best part: this remote is half the price of the competitor's dinky, cheap-feeling component.Awesome job, Godox. I'm a believer now.

Works great on Sony a7r iv v2!
11 May 2022

I needed this for controlling Godox AD600 pro strobe flashes with my Sony alpha 7r4 v2. I was new to strobes and transmitter use. Instructions left me with more questions than answers initially. I found a good youtube video that showed how to assign Groups for control of each flash. Now, it seems so easy. Bonus: I am more excited to see I can use this on my large format lenses for strobe flash. Attach the lens (x) nib by 2.5mm cable to the transmitter. The transmitter still controls the flashes when the shutter is released. Very happy.

great trigger
15 December 2022

I really liked this transmitter - it was easy to get going with my other Godox products. Intuitive interface and easy to handle buttons/dials/etc even in dark lighting conditions.Something to improve on: it feels really cheap when working with it. You can slap any cheap brand label on this and not even think twice about it.Despite this I will still bought a second one but I really wish they would make this a little better. Also make the dials on the left line up better with the LCD display.
