Fluorescent Acrylic Colors are intense, brilliant colors, produced from dyes surrounded by a polymer coating. Because fluorescent colors are transparent, greater intensity is achieved by applying them over bright white surfaces. Fluorescent Colors are not lightfast. For permanency, a topcoat of GOLDEN MSA Varnish with UVLS (UltraViolet Light Stabilizers) is recommended, although varnish and top coats will eliminate the fluorescent "glow" under black light. ABOUT GOLDEN Golden Acrylic Colours are made by the Golden family in upstate New York. Sam Golden had been making paint in New York since the 1930s, and released the first commercially available acrylic, Magna, in 1947. Throughout the Fifties and Sixties he continued to develop his colours and mediums in close partnership with leading art practitioners. In the mid-Seventies, he attempted to retire to up-state New York, but too many artists protested that they were reliant on his products, so he started Golden Paints with his son Mark in the early Eighties. The Golden Artist Colors pay special attention to the latest technological advances in pigment and binders, and continue to work closely with artists to develop new materials. They were the first to develop a water-tension-breaker, the first to use Quinacridone pigments, the first to develop Zinc White for acrylic, the first to use Interference colours, and their latest ground-breaking products include OPEN Acrylics and Digital Mix Media.

Only Golden acrylics allowed me to accomplish the moods of these various stages of my journey, from the dark, subdued browns and greens of the initial stages to the bright, yet muted, turquoises, reds, and yellows that represented the hope and peace I felt as my journey began to come to a close. Golden was quite honestly the only brand of acrylics that allowed me to do this. Yes, they are pricey but my experience has taught me that they are worth every penny. This coming June I will celebrate my 76th birthday. I thank God every day for my life, my family, my friends, and the gift of creativity. I hope to be able to paint for a long time to come. And I hope to be able to do so with Golden brand acrylic paints. My goal is to live long enough to own every single color of Golden acrylics!

I absolutely love these paints! I’m amazed at how well these blend. I love the overall quality. May be expensive, but you definitely get what you pay for especially for serious painters. I also love these but they come in a large selection of colors. I have not tried this particular green, but going to pick one up soon because it’s dead on what I’m looking for, for my grass affects. The advantage to buying this color, is I don’t have to custom make it which normally uses 3-4 colors and occasionally I’ll have too much paint by the time I get the color just how I want.

#sweepstakesWith these heavy-body acrylics in a larger size, I extract a few ounces of product using a long-blade palette knife and put it in a squeeze bottle-it only takes a couple of minutes for a 4oz. bottle. I use the bottle as a sort of precision tool for placing small amounts of pigment precisely and then I deal with it using a brush, palette knife of other tool. With a solid tap of the original now partly-filled jar, a slight mist of water into it from a spray bottle, and a good twist to tighten the lid, the paint should be moist and like new for years.

CERULEAN BLUE CHROMIUM HEAVY BODY ACRYLIC
25 November 2022

This is a nice deep Cerulean Blue Chromium. Lots of pigment. I dilute the paint with medium and a bit of water for painting skies. Makes a nice sky blue with Titanium White and nice distant mountain blues. Pretty fast setting so a touch of water... very little, is helpful. Very, very little water, lots of medium. Skies usually need two or three coats of paint and I use high quality 2" and 4" painter's brushes. Never use a cheap brush... you'll spend your time digging out hairs.

Can't paint without this!
18 October 2023

I have to have titanium white for most of my colors. So I've tried a few different brands since I use it a lot on a daily basis. Mainly to see if I like the quality and more affordable at the same time. But I have to say I still prefer the Golden colors better for its quality and affordability when compared to other colors. Titanium white is titanium white for any brands, but the creamy buttery texture that all Golden heavy body paints is something I really like.

Not perfect, cap needs redesign
29 July 2021

Overall these are nice like all of Golden's paint line, but need modifications to use them well. They are too glossy, so you have to add a matting agent to calm them down, such as a Fluid Matte Medium. This weakens the color, though. Golden discontinued the Matte Fluid Acrylics so these are now the only choice. The SoFlat line is nice, but too matte and not quite fluid enough for me. The caps on these Fluid acrylics are terrible, clog up too easily and are tough to open with your fingers every time, especially when they get paint residue inside them. These paints stick like crazy to my glass palette and other surfaces, hard to remove, and I find them harder to modify on the canvas than the Heavy Body consistency paints. I want to create dripping paint in some places ... MoreOverall these are nice like all of Golden's paint line, but need modifications to use them well. These paints stick like crazy to my glass palette and other surfaces, hard to remove, and I find them harder to modify on the canvas than the Heavy Body consistency paints. I want to create dripping paint in some places so I got these, but they don't run far enough (I want to mimic an oil paint that would have a little solvent and medium added to the oil). So I bought the High Flow, which flows too much. So I mix the High Flow and Fluid together to get the correct dripping consistency. Labeling has changed, it's a bit more cryptic, but if you know what the symbols mean you can understand it. I have yet to try other brands, but am going to look into them (like Liguitex, Utrecht, Vallejo, Matisse, Da Vinci, etc), some of these say they have a matte finish.

Omg I love it!
31 December 2021

I purchased the unprimed linen blanket, medium, as a treat and a bit leery of the folded vs rolled. But I am soooo glad I did. First, since linen shrinks, I quickly hand stretched without canvas pliers, then spritzed with cold water, and boom the wrinkled we're gone and I had a drum tight canvas. Woa. This makes stretching a canvas so much easier than a primed or cotton one for this aging artist's hands. Wow. Plus the weave is nice and dense. I'm rethinking my use of cotton because this is so much simpler. If my buyers will pay the higher price for my paintings, this is a route I would happily take again.

Perfect light gray

This is a perfect light middle value for working in grayscale. Professional quality
26 July 2023

I love Golden heavy body paint. I love a lot about f the colors with single pigments, excellent pigment load on all the colors. And the heavy body goes a long way. These are excellent paints. And the cobalt teal is a wonderful color, (PG50). The professional quality is worth the price. Go ahead, splurge. You’ll be glad you did.

Trouble with Golden Heavy Body Paint Caps.
14 April 2023

Golden Paint is the best acrylic paint product I have found. I use the heavy body in tubes, thin as needed with water. Recently I had trouble with caps breaking. Golden has changed to a better cap. I contacted the company after purchasing a tube with a new and better cap. I asked if I could purchase 7 of the new caps for mine which were broken. They immediately sent me seven replacement caps at no charge. Golden is an employee owned company. I like supporting them. They stand behind their product.
