An All Time Favorite (with One Small Issue)

This is my all-time favorite grip. Love the lack of taper, the texture, the look. The only issue is that it performs poorly in wet conditions. But as long as you carry an all-weather golf glove, it's no problem. I don't have any issues with normal perspiration. The only issue is on truly rainy days, then you'll want to be sure to pack the right glove.

I loved my Winn grips however they would wear out quickly when playing 100+ rounds a year. I purchased a wedge recently with this Golf Pride grip and liked the sturdiness and tackiness of it. I then had most of my woods and irons gripped with CP2 Pro and so far I love the feel. We will see how long it holds up.

I had meant to order the wrap style but went ahead and used the CP2 Pro on several irons. Nice but my preference are the wrap style. I feel these grips feel a bit firmer and the wraps are softer which is more comfortable on my hands. However, these are super quality grips.

Control with Comfort Grips
6 March 2024

These grips were recommended to my by Dick's Sporting Goods association, Spencer. They are all he told me they would be and more! These grips are comfortable and provide me with confidence to control my club through my swing. Highly recommend GP CP2 Pro Grips.

Great Feel, very durable, good feedback!
10 September 2023

I'm been golfing for 35 years, and during all of that time I've done DIY grip replacements whenever they were called for. I've used a wide variety of grips over the years, and the Golf Pride CP2 Pro Jumbo fits my hands perfectly, and they wear like iron!! They are a little more expensive, but they're material makes re-gripping less frequent, and I believe they're less expensive in the long run, and they for certain save time at the work bench. They feel good in your hands, and provide good feedback. I'll never use any grip other than the CP2 Pro (Red) or Wrap (Blue).

Humidity and sweat an enemy?
3 August 2021

So I really gotta say that I love the way these grips look, and I really like the texture of the grips as well. There is very minimal taper and for some that may be a pro more than anything. But as someone who has lived in Texas their whole life I gotta say that these grips DO NOT- handle sweat well. I already have pretty sweaty hands, and here in Texas it can get very humid. And on more than one occasion I've had the club slip upwards in my back swing. Keep in mind I have a pretty firm grip so the fact that this happens is kind of absurd. Not to mention that I feel like I have to strangle the club when it gets wet/sweaty. Which (and keep in mind I'm a 20 handicap) I feel like prevents me from releasing the club correctly so I end up pulling.Overall the grips are ... MoreSo I really gotta say that I love the way these grips look, and I really like the texture of the grips as well. I am now considering switching to different grips.

Secure, comfortable grips
20 March 2024

My Dicks Sporting golf technician recommended these GP grips for me. He was totally correct. They have improved my confidence with holding my golf clubs through my swing. I can squeeze the club without too much pressure and tension in my hands. This gives me a more smooth and relaxed golf swing, Ergo, more solid contact club to ball for better results.

These grips are the real deal except....
17 June 2024

These grips are perfect for my requirements. The midsize helps with arthritis and makes it easier to grip. I wanted to try the reduced taper lower hand and love the feel. The only fault I discovered is they are not great playing in the rain. Got slippery quickly and they I have only been using them for a month

These just don't work for me
31 March 2023

I want to like these, they are soft, almost squishy and feel like they'd be really comfortable. However, when I tried them, twice!, I just put them on again not remembering I'd already tried them two years earlier. I was reminded of how when on the club they just don't feel right. Strangely, actually hurt my hands and forearms, they cause some stress in my tendons and grip. Fortunately I didn't have to throw away the whole set only three this time. Also I tried the mid size this time, the pain was worse and really hurt the tendons going up my forearms. I did read that griping something too large can cause tendon pain and damage. Went back to standard Tour Velvet and everything was fine, no pain. I wear a M/L glove.

Thick grips - the latest fad that actually seems to work
2 October 2018

If you are reading this you will most likely be aware Golf Pride do 2 versions of the CP2 grip, the Wrap (blue/black) and the Pro (red/black). A friend had 10 Midsize CP2 Wrap (blue / black) grips fitted by the Pro shop. Of course I tried them for size and was impressed but they felt a tad too soft, almost gel like. They have some sort of reinforcement in the butt of the grip but even with this I thought the softness of the grips would permit twisting in the hand at even a medium swing speed. They were comfortable though. The pro version, while still comfortable feels firmer and for me more confidence inspiring. This version has a good grip level and a feel akin to a corded grip. They were comfortable though. The pro version, while still comfortable feels firmer and for me more confidence inspiring. This version has a good grip level and a feel akin to a corded grip. They are not as rough as a corded grip though but I don't think they are aimed at the super-fast swing speed golfist. At my modest swing speed I feel completely in control. The benefit of both versions is the minimal taper to the lower hand, indeed this appears to be the latest fad. Normally I find my lower index finger hangs loose off the grip but with a thicker lower hand it can stay on the grip. In fact my whole hand feels more secure and relaxed. So I chose the Pro version (red / black) in Midsize. The only caution I urge is to think carefully about what shafts you're fitting them to. Unlike steel, graphite shafts continue getting bigger the longer they are. So the grip on my driver is wider than the one on my wedge. Time will tell but I wonder if I will change the grips on my longest clubs to Standard Size to compensate....
