When I first stumbled across this computer walking through best buy 6 weeks ago I instantly fell in love with the incredibly sleek look of it. I had also recently fallen in love with my older chromebook and saw the merits of switching to Chrome OS from Windows/Mac/Linux, so seeing this incredible chromebook from Google already had an appeal. Also recent convert to all Google products online & the Google Home / Chromecast devices. I did lots of research online about this machine, and just kept on being wowed by it more and more. Missed a sale on the machine, but then next time BestBuy had a sale on it I picked one up. Wow. I mean WOW!!! Amazing machine, unbelievably thin, and impressive across all categories I can think of. The glass touchpad is the smoothest I have ever experienced, touchscreen amazing resolution & touch response, and the Pixel Pen is a great add on too! With the memory & power it now runs not Chrome OS & Android apps but now runs Linux too in both Crostini & Crouton. One thing I've encountered many people say is that with a chromebook that they could do 95% of the stuff they need to do on a computer with it, but for 5% of the time they still need a "real computer". Well now Google has advanced to the point that even a relative power user like me needs no other machine! This PixelBook does 100% of what I need and now retired all my other computers! Seriously, it can even be used as a "Desktop computer" by putting it into tent mode paired with a wireless keyboard & mouse, and you can even have a secondary display! Really, what more does almost everyone need than this? Windows perhaps? Well, rumour has it that Google is now working to get Windows as a option to run on the PixelBook just like Android & Linux now are. What's left? Mac books? Haha! Lots of Mac folks are getting these PixelBooks ;) Who is this computer for? Professionals, those working on their laptops regularly, University students? Most anyone who can afford this amazing piece of tech. Who is this computer not for? Well, I wouldn't give it to my 12 year old for their school chromebook (I've seen how the "rugged" chromebook he uses looks seriously abused & would be heart-broken seeing a PixelBook trashed like that).

I bought one of these a few days ago and so far I love it. When I originally went to the store the sales rep tried to sell me on a macbook (already have a few of them) but I told him I wasn't a fan of their new machines. I asked about the Pixelbook and he initially tried to steer me away and said I wouldn't like it. Just then one of their senior sales associates (Matt) came by and told me they are incredible machines. He advised it's the fastest machine I'll get, is super responsive, great connectivity and the Chromebook style allows me to download apps to it. He did advise the hard drive is a little small but the system is designed to store all your material in the cloud ( I use google drive). So far this little computer outperforms anything I've used, even my wife's new macbook pro. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a sleek, portable and efficient machine. My advice...try it, you'll get a 30-day return policy and if you don't like it just bring it back. ON a side note it is a little pricey but worth it to me.

Performance is very good. 2 years after buying an i5 version I turned that machine into my daily driver with a 30" 4k monitor. Then I noticed that having more than 10 tabs open created lags. The i7 version, with double the RAM, solves all of that. Screen offers great detail and color, though it is glossy so more difficult to use with a lot of backlight. Square-ish aspect ratio (3:2) is better for productivity than the more rectangular designs. Keyboard is just perfect. Just enough travel, just enough clicky resistance, backlit, and nearly silent. Trackpad is also perfect - better than 2020 machines. Battery life is middling. Expect 6-7 hours. It charges quickly, though. Bluetooth is rough, as with many Google devices. Case design is fine - Silicone pads make it good ... MorePerformance is very good. 2 years after buying an i5 version I turned that machine into my daily driver with a 30" 4k monitor. I loved my Pixel 2015, I love the Pixelbook even more. It's much lighted than XPS 13 2-in-1 2019, very thin and folds perfectly into a tablet. Mine has some signs wear on the outside and a bit dirty, but otherwise it's in great condition. Seriously, Google should have just taken this design and run with it. I don't know why they are experimenting with the stupid slate or the Go, stepping backwards from a 2-in-1. I hope Google improves the Crostini Linux and gives it more freedom. Right now it feels much more restrictive than the crouton. It doesn't give you that level of freedom.
I have to say, this is one of the nicest laptops I have ever used regardless of OS. The build quality is perfect, as is the design. The spongy rubber palm rest is a little "different", but time will tell how it holds up to wear and being soiled by skin oil, dust, grime etc. The inclusion of the android app store has finally made Chrome OS a full fledged mature OS capable of doing most required tasks, and playing a few good games. The screen is absolutely brilliant, and I love flipping it around and using as a touchscreen tablet. The battery life is also excellent, and I can get a full day's use with power to spare (10 hours of near steady use.) The only real stumbling block I've come across is my inability to print directly from the Pixelbook as there are no drivers ... MoreI have to say, this is one of the nicest laptops I have ever used regardless of OS. The only real stumbling block I've come across is my inability to print directly from the Pixelbook as there are no drivers like you'd find on Windows or OSX. I don't have a cloud print enabled printer, so printing is a bit of a work around where I print to a PDF and then use the "Canon PRINT Business" android app to sent to my Canon MF8080C printer. Still, I highly recommend this notebook to anyone who doesn't require a Mac of PC for task specific software.
Not sure what is considered long battery life, but this one usually lasts about 6 hours. I was hoping to store files on desktop. and wasn't aware you can't. I will say this much, better than have to put up with bing and Yahoo and others creaping in, having trouble finding websites. Okay for the most part.
I really like this Chromebook a lot. It feels like a quarter step from being almost unbeatable. It's a little heavy, the screen needs to be 13.3", and the items connected in a USB-C adapter briefly disconnect when plugging or unplugging a pass-through power supply to it. I also prefer darker keys because the back lighting of the keyboard can be tricky when in certain lighting. But there are dark and other alternate color keyboard covers available for this to remedy that. But overall, besides those factors, it is a super laptop with great feel. And a classy appearance to the device and it's OEM carrying case. And it's so nice that it is a 2 in 1 fold back form factor, now it is being supported up to 2026. If you don't mind the issues I shared here, you will love this ... MoreI really like this Chromebook a lot. It feels like a quarter step from being almost unbeatable. I really like the Pixel book. Its comforting to know this is the best google can make. Web browsing is a really great experience and I often feel like Im waiting on the web content to load instead of the computer which is a nice change from lower chrome books. Downsides are battery is not great, it attempts to compensate for a better cpu but its obvious it depletes quicker. This is acceptable because the web performance is so good. You need a $100 active pen to making writing or drawing on this worthwhile... and its not a great experience even then - ok for doodling, but not something you want to rely on to work well every time. Zoom performance is not reliable - not as unusable as lower powered chrome books - but its bad enough I now avoid ChromeOS entirely for ... MoreI really like the Pixel book. Tablet mode is neat when it works, but often youll be fumbling trying to get things to re-orient properly in tablet mode. I find the web experience so good and the touch screen convenient - great for reading in tablet mode where the keyboard flips to the back. I still highly recommend with expectations set accordingly.
I'll start with it's not for everyone. Especially with the price tag. But if you're thinking about buying a iPad Pro, this will give you a headache on how to decide which one to buy. Of course, as long as you're not an Apple enthusiast.Let's start with keyboard on this baby. I have a Macbook Pro (mid 2013) for my professional work. I used to love it's keyboard compares to almost all the PCs on the market. No one comes close to it. And this keyboard, really outshine it. After using it for my casual activities, I got uncomfortable while switching back to my MBP for work, I really need time to adjust the feeling back. And Chrome (browser) on this baby for some reason, just runs extra smooth compares to its brother on my MBP.And now you have the whole android play ... MoreI'll start with it's not for everyone. Though not all of the android apps work on it. But it's still quite exciting experience using the ones which actually work. You know like Microsoft Office 365, HBO Go..etc.Besides, we use it to share within the family. My kids starting to learn how to use computer(chromebook) in the school. It's a good for them to have a continuation experience identical to which they have used, learned from school.Personally, I love it and no regret on my decision to buy it. Oh, abt also provides 12 months financial option, that makes my decision effortless.
i haven't owned a computer in about 4 years. i originally purchased a gaming laptop, as i thought i would be playing games on my pc. after i took it home and began using it, i realized i don't really want to play games on my computer anymore, and thought the pixelbook would be the premium product that could do the job the best. so i returned the gaming laptop and took the pixelbook home. BOY WAS I RIGHT. this machine is truly a joy to use. if you like browsing the web, playing flash games, writing, blogging, taking online web based courses.. this is the machine for you. seriously, it's zippity quick, loads up instantly, and is very simple and easy to use. i have the pixel 2 XL and they are syncing perfectly. i love this computer and am so happy i pulled the trigger. ... Morei haven't owned a computer in about 4 years. i originally purchased a gaming laptop, as i thought i would be playing games on my pc. after i took it home and began using it, i realized i don't really want to play games on my computer anymore, and thought the pixelbook would be the premium product that could do the job the best. so i returned the gaming laptop and took the pixelbook home.
