GoPro Hero 11 Action Camera Black
A larger new image sensor provides you with a larger canvas to work with. The wide field of vision allows you to zoom, crop, or switch digital lenses to get any look while editing. With 8x slo-mo at a dazzling 2.7K and 24.7MP frame grabs from video, the ultra-sharp 5.3K video resolution makes everything you capture look very professional. HERO11 Black's HyperSmooth 5.0 technology automatically decides the level of video stabilization you require based on your speed and movement for the smoothest, broadest shots imaginable. Even if the camera tilts during filming, your horizon will remain level. And now that Horizon Lock is included in HyperSmooth 5.0, it's easier than ever to maintain the horizon stable and consistent even when your camera spins 360°. The Creator Edition includes two cold-shoe mounts and a mini HDMI connection, allowing you to go even further with existing equipment.

The on-screen adjustments are still confusing to me but I can fumble through and get them to work.It has a bigger battery than earlier versions but the new features also suck the juice quicker. So it has about the same run time as my GoPro 8 only it has nicer features. One bigger glitch that also happens with the previous versions is that it will occasionally lock up - usually when trying to make adjustments and cycling it on and off. It has only happened once with the new one and the cure is to remove the battery and stick it back in.Overall, it deserves a 3 rating because of the same issues as with many previous versions. However, the bigger sensor and easy setup pleased me and I gave it 4 stars.

It's a great camera, when it was working. I love nearly everything about it except the deal-breaking battery flaw.Mine has recently developed what seems to be a common issue with the battery in which it will not charge above 1% no matter what I do. Tried all the usual troubleshooting: charging overnight several times, used multiple different charging cables/wall adapters (including the cable the camera came with), rebooted the GoPro, tried factory resetting the GoPro, tried charging the GoPro without the SD card in it, etc. There is a firmware update available that may or may not resolve the issue, but I can't even install it because the battery is too low for the camera to update, even when plugged in.I did some digging online to see if there were any other ... MoreIt's a great camera, when it was working. GoPro replaces the camera outright and then a few weeks later, same issue. This is a pretty major hardware failure that GoPro doesn't seem to be keen on acknowledging, let alone resolving. Save your money, go get the Insta360.

I recently had the pleasure of using the GoPro Hero 11 camera, and I must say, it's been quite an enjoyable experience. While it may not be perfect, it gets the job done admirably, making it a solid choice for capturing life's adventures.Image and Video Quality (4/5): The GoPro Hero 11 delivers impressive image and video quality, particularly in well-lit conditions. The 4K video recording capabilities are a standout feature, producing crisp and vibrant footage. However, it could perform better in low-light situations where noise tends to creep in. For most outdoor activities, though, this camera will have you covered.Durability (5/5): This camera's robust build is a standout feature. For most outdoor activities, though, this camera will have you covered.Durability (5/5): This camera's robust build is a standout feature. It's waterproof, shockproof, and rugged enough to handle all sorts of environments. Whether you're diving into the ocean or taking it mountain biking, the Hero 11 is designed to withstand the elements, making it an ideal companion for adventurers.Ease of Use (4/5): Navigating through the Hero 11's menu and settings is fairly intuitive, even for those new to action cameras. However, some may find the touchscreen interface a bit fiddly, especially when wearing gloves or in wet conditions. Additionally, while the voice control feature is handy, it might not always recognize commands accurately.Battery Life (3/5): This is one area where the Hero 11 falls short. The battery life is decent but not exceptional. For longer adventures, you might need to carry spare batteries or a portable charger. It's a minor inconvenience, but it's worth noting.Connectivity and App (4/5): The Hero 11 offers seamless connectivity with your smartphone through the GoPro app, allowing for easy remote control and content transfer. The app also provides an array of editing tools to enhance your footage, which is a nice touch for those who like to fine-tune their videos. In summary, the GoPro Hero 11 is an "alright" camera that's more than capable of capturing your adventures with good image and video quality. Its durability, ease of use, and connectivity options make it a reliable companion for outdoor enthusiasts. However, it's not without its shortcomings, particularly in terms of battery life. If you're willing to work around that limitation, you'll find the Hero 11 to be a solid choice for documenting your action-packed moments
As an FPV pilot, I was kinda heartbroken when I smashed my Hero 8 Black. The 8 shot beautiful 4K video and if you ran it off a BEC instead of the dedicated battery, it was right around 100g.The Mini seemed like the logical replacement: even better video quality, and lighter than the other GoPros still on the market. I snagged an open-box camera, and bought the accidental damage coverage. Right from the first day, though, I ran into the issue where the camera would lock up and become unresponsive until a hard restart. An inconvenience, but not a big deal. For a couple months, the Mini and I got along OK. Occasional lock-ups, and while charging, the thing seemed to get almost too hot to handle, but always beautiful video. Always in a TPU case, it held up to the kind of crashes the trusty 8 survived, the kind that didn't damage a robust 5" CF frame. Last week, though, while out for a few packs at the local golf course, it started to turn itself off and reboot, and then became totally unresponsive. Back at home, it didn't respond to any of the stuff GoPro suggested trying, so I brought it in to Best Buy. After sending it in for repair, BB cashed it out under the accidental damage plan. After giving it some thought, I think this probably should have been a warranty claim rather than an accidental damage claim, because there was no external evidence of damage, and the problem seems more likely related to the models's now well-known battery problems. The difference would be that instead of Best Buy giving me back the amount I spent on the camera and keeping what I paid to cover accidental damage, GoPro would have replaced the camera, and I would still have an accidental damage policy in place.I'm a little torn about what to buy next. As far as image quality in a 4K camera, there's just no substitute for a GoPro (looking in your direction, DJI Action 2 and Runcam 5/Thumb Pro). I could get a Hero 10 or 11, and power it from the LiPo that powers the quad, and arrive at a weight pretty much on par with the Mini, retaining the option to pop in a battery. But weight considerations aside, the Mini's compact form and lack of screens seems to give it an advantage as far as durability. I could try a Hero 12 Bones, but it's not really designed for the kind of crashes a freestyle pilot expects to happen. Or I could abandon the GoPro altogether in favor of an Insta360 Go 3 (more expensive, still 2.7k max resolution) or an 03 Air, but the freestyle frames I fly now aren't designed to accommodate the 03, and I'm not prepared to start from scratch with new frames. This is why many, many freestyle pilots are limping along with aging Session 5's.I'll probably end up getting another Mini, mainly because there just isn't a good alternative, and I've already got the TPU cases and ND filters. Hoping the next one treats me better.

If you are looking for frictionless experience, shoot, upload and share, this is anything but that. Iâd buy the ProExtreme (itâs not a GoPro, itâs better)
I had always wanted a GoPro camera for action shots and video that would rival my iPhone. The GoPro 11 black creators edition fits that bill. This camera is very versatile and the size is more manageable to hold especially when connected to the battery handle. The camera lens is very versatile as it allows me to film the entire area in a small space similar to an iPhone dies with the wide-angle lens. The screen can be set to super wide angle which kind of gives a fish eye lens appeal. The quality of the images are top-notch and perfect for transferring to YouTube. Action and speed are this cameras forte so you get a very smooth action when you're filming stuff that passes you by quickly. The large back screen is good enough to get your area within the frame of what you were shooting and the front screen allows you to see yourself whether you are in the frame or not. One of the best features as when I can meet this camera to my iPhone using a free app which allows me to transfer my files directly to my phone as well as control the phone in regards to preview settings. The icing on the cake is the ability to start and stop recordings without having to be near the camera. As long as the camera can hear you in the microphone, there are many commands you can give it which I have found immensely convenient as compared to having to start and stop my videos with my iPhone. The small rechargeable LED that can be attached to the cold shoe is plenty enough light when shooting. The camera comes with an array of attachments that allow you to mount the camera in different positions on different surfaces. The battery that also acts like a tripod has charging plugs on it as well as pop out legs and a swivel at the top so the camera can be swiveled and angled in any position. You will need to purchase a micro SD card to save your images and video. I believe I purchased a 256 GB card which holds plenty of media. I'm just overjoyed that I finally have pulled the trigger on the 11th iteration of this camera. I was first initially disappointed to read many instances of overheating however I have not discovered that in my own experience and I have recorded for hours at a time. Time will tell whether that continues to happen when the local weather reaches over 110°. At that point I probably won't wanna be outside filming anything anyway. I think the camera makes a great addition to anybody who creates videos for YouTube. I am really enjoying this camera.
I bought this bundle off of impulse during a drop and returned it almost immediately. During the setup process the camera heated up quick and i had to do some research if this was normal. Turns out that GoPros overheating is an overly common issue that has occurred since the Hero 5 and the company does nothing to fix it. This can ruin your videos or streams! I watched it happen to a good friend that streams on the Drip app (huge loss of revenue while he had to replace the camera).I did some research for a different option and discovered the DJI action 4 bundle. While you do lose a few cool accessories, that camera wonât leave you hanging if it overheats. The accessories are what kept me from going lower. Watch a few YouTube videos comparing the two and Iâm sure youâll come to the same conclusion as i did and purchase the Action 4.
I really, really wanted to like this product. GoPro has been one of those products whose name is now synonymous with being THE premier action camera that can be used for anything from the mundane to the extreme. I just didnât fall in love with this product like I expected to.First, the product itself. The camera looks and feels great. GoPro has been one of those products whose name is now synonymous with being THE premier action camera that can be used for anything from the mundane to the extreme. I just didnât fall in love with this product like I expected to.First, the product itself. The camera looks and feels great. The build of it of course has a nice metal build for the case and the buttons are rubberized for comfort. It is smaller, Iâd guess around 70% the size of a regular GoPro, but noticeably lighter (comfortable for putting it on my dogâs harness). The design is simple since it lacks a screen, featuring only two buttons. The top button is used for starting or stopping a recording or selecting OK, where as the front button cycles through menus and settings. Itâs a little confusing at first, but after a couple of days, you can get used to it.It has a waterproof design that you expect and need for the tasks that youâll be taking it on and a huge support for video resolutions and fps (frames per second). You can go 5.3k at up to 60 fps, 4k at up to 120 fps, 2.7 k at up to a staggering 240 fps, or 1080p also up to 240 fps. For my personal recordings, I tend to jump between 4k at 120 fps and 1080p at 240 fps for the ultra-smooth recordings. Most people wonât notice or care, but I have a huge 512 GB microSD endurance card in and I want my recordings to be as nice as possible before editing. Why compromise beforehand? All of the videos (sorry, no photo support) are recorded on a very smooth stabilized video that the GoPro action camera calls HyperSmooth. The interface on the GoPro Hero11 Mini is a bit too simplistic for âProâ setting. It just allows you to cycle through the different presets whereas the normal mode allows you to just start or stop the recording. If youâre not familiar with the different preset video modes, the names donât really describe what the presets do. I feel like a short description or use-case scenario would be useful for first time users in the manual or the app (more on that later). Now for my experience:Upon opening the product, I immediately read through the instructions which say to make sure it is fully charged and to download the Quik app for the GoPro camera on my phone. Since this camera no longer has a screen, to ensure that your camera is mounted and oriented correctly you need to use the phone app in order to connect and view or retrieve media. The app is required for firmware updates as well. I donât like that this is required though. The removal of desktop app support really blows apart what is useful for power users that want to handle the editing themselves and is instead, a strong push for users to be locked in to their subscription service for cloud recording uploads and special editing tools. The app seems to focus on trying to selling more to you even after they already have your money on the device. Of the four tabs, one is for the âMuralâ and another for âStudioâ, both of which are subscription only. The âMediaâ tab is for what videos are loaded on to your phone but oh wait, it also has another page inside for Cloud backed up recordings (service). The âGoProâ tab is finally about your device where you can view the media on the camera, control it, or check for firmware updates. The app works, but it isnât without problems and I wish I could hide those useless tabs I wonât be using. This is bad UX. I do give it points for being able to customize each preset video mode though.Anyways, after fully charging, I performed an update for the camera. Or, at least I tried to. The camera got stuck updating and there was no instruction in the included manual or through their online support forums to try and forcibly restart the camera. I had to let the camera stay stuck âupdatingâ until it finally died sometime overnight. I tried this twice on a completely new phone with the latest app update on the Google Playstore. It finally finished a third time. One major downside is that the Hero11 mini runs hot while charging and while updating. In fact, it seems to run hot when recording as well. I had used it in a 40-minute drive with the TimeWarp setting where my partner was driving and I had it in hand on a gimbal. This was in the middle of winter in the Midwest and wow, when I took my gloves off, I realized how hot the camera felt. I have to stress, we were not running the car heat on full blast â it was only on low speed fan settings and set to just 65 F. Again, the camera, whilst in winter, felt very hot. I know that heat is the biggest killer to battery life in phones so this problem doesnât bode well for the camera. Especially since you know, the battery is non-removable now.But perhaps this issue only occurs when charging while simultaneously recording? There were some nicer days outside during the winter when taking our dog out on a walk with the camera mounted on the harness didnât seem to affect their walking. Running is still somewhat of an issue as the placement of the mount causes it to bounce and hit her head as it bobs up and down with those doggy hops (not an issue of the camera itself, just a problem with top mounts). For the record the recorded videos are fairly stabilized and didnât give me mind boggling headache, though I still have to figure out a better way to capture more than just her ears in half the frame. It was a nice half hour walk and when we went back home, I started the transfer process from the Camera to the Phone via the Quik app.The large file sizes of the captured footage take forever to be transferred over on to your phone. Itâd be nice to just be able to connect the camera to your computer and have a nice desktop app just transfer all your videos over wire, instead of through a direct wireless connection (not sure if it is through wifi or Bluetooth â itâs slow). It was so slow that what ended up happening was the camera died while in the middle of transferring the second half of the video. The standby time on these cameras are not great, and thatâs with the Found option off (this option enables you or others to be able to detect find it on the app where it last was). Often times, the phone can recognize the camera, you hit connect and then youâll wait forever for it to finish the connection process.Iâve made a few more recordings, but the low-light capture capability isnât the best for when the kids are running around late. The battery life is definitely serviceable on a full charge. But since you canât swap the battery out and the full sized Hero11 doesnât really have that much of a larger footprint anyways, I would only use the Hero11 Mini as a secondary camera, not the main one.I cannot recommend the Hero11 Mini unfortunately. It has a lot of shortcomings, many of which rely on the connection. The firmware updates, connection drops, and the transferring of files put it in a poor light. Maybe theyâll have improved on this in the future. As of early 2023, Iâm still plagued by these problems.
