First off I was pretty sure I ordered the version without the touchscreen. But maybe I didn't. Long story short, I now have camera with touchscreen. Which I have to say has turned into a happy accident. The touchscreen works well as a viewfinder. Plus there's the option to play back videos, complete with sound, right on the camera. And the most useful thing about the touchscreen is how much easier it makes changing camera settings. No longer must I try to read ar decipher the words and symbols on the postage stamp sized LCD screen on the front of the camera. I am yet to update any firmware so that may be an issue. But my original Hero 4 (without touchscreen) only has SD faults half as frequent. Still for the price, this is kind of a no brainer. A well made, high quality action camera for under $150. Seriously! I am considering buying another because I can buy three or four of these for less than a new Hero 7. And these Hero 4 cameras already do everything I need them to

I bought multiple GoPro knockoffs before deciding to buy the real one. The cause? Encourage. I own multiple ISAW Air cameras. These are excellent cameras with lots of useful features. The issue is that neither the ISAW manufacturer nor any aftermarket providers provide batteries for my model. The cameras are worthless if the ISAW batteries run out of life. There are a ton of businesses who endorse GoPro gear. In terms of performance, the GoPro Hero 4 Black Edition is outstanding. It can be adjusted by the user for any purpose.

A great camera for the action packed enthusiasts. Small, compact with a great battery life lets you film your adventures with ease. With the protective case you don’t have to worry about spills and drops just pick it up and keep recording. I have used the GoPro multiple times underwater and the low light performance has been great. The interface could use some user improvements but the picture and video quality keep the GoPro 4 at 5 stars. The camera can be mounted easily on your body and has a wide angle lens which lets you stay immersed in the activity without having to worry about holding a camera for the perfect shot.

Once you figure out how to use this camera, it works great! I like being able to see what I'm shooting so opted for the Hero4 Silver with the touch-screen. The controls are very conveniently accessed on it too. The ability to turn off the beeps and blinking red lights is a big plus. The mic is VERY susceptible to wind noise however, so if you're shooting outside and sound is important you'll need a windsock. (I hand-held all my shots without the case.) My first camera had issues with the notorious background "helicopter" thumping sound when wi-fi was incorporated but the GoPro support team was responsive, efficient and polite so I had a replacement in no time. My first camera had issues with the notorious background "helicopter" thumping sound when wi-fi was incorporated but the GoPro support team was responsive, efficient and polite so I had a replacement in no time. I've not tested this camera for underwater use as I have no need. I took this camera to China for a month and it worked like a champ. 1,200 video clips! I had three batteries with me and 3 micro SD cards. The cards would hold almost 4 hours of recording but the batteries only last 1 1/2 hours. It was never a problem though as the batteries popped in and out with ease and charged very quickly with the dual battery charger. This tiny camera slips into a pocket quite easily but its squarish design makes it protrude a bit. The slight delay in turning the camera on and off takes a little getting used to but usually wasn't a problem. Since I use a Mac, I pulled the SD card out when full and used a card reader to transfer the files to my hard drive. It was a bit confusing at first since the MP4 videos were intermixed with the Windows files all in the same folder. But, sorting the files by "Kind" quickly separated the files into JPGs, MP4s and Windows files that made it easy to select and copy them to my computer. The video quality was outstanding.
The GoPro! Such a cool gadget! I’ve taken this with me on vacation, on kayaking trips, go karting, so many fun options and ways to use different GoPro attachments! The GoPro Hero is pretty great! The quality is nice, and the camera itself is rugged and durable - as intended! Its size makes it super portable, and any extra attachments I have are also small enough to squeeze in the carry pouch! GoPro is meant for fun and adventure- the battery life will last all day and won’t leave you hanging! Greta picture quality, and watching the videos back on my phone is always fun!
The GoPro Hero4 Silver Edition has been a fantastic addition to my gear, transforming the way I capture both everyday moments and exciting adventures. The first thing I loved about this camera is its sleek, compact design, which feels durable enough to handle all sorts of action without being cumbersome. The built-in touchscreen is a game-changer—it’s incredibly user-friendly and makes setting up shots and previewing footage a breeze. The 4K video quality is stunning, delivering sharp, vibrant footage that really brings my adventures to life, and the image stabilization does a great job of smoothing out any shaky moments. Using the camera is intuitive, thanks to its responsive touchscreen and handy voice control feature, which means I can operate it hands-free during active shoots. The battery life is pretty solid, though having a spare on hand is useful for longer outings. Plus, the Hero4 Silver Edition is tough and water-resistant, so I don’t have to worry about it getting damaged in different environments. Overall, the GoPro Hero4 Silver Edition combines excellent video quality, ease of use, and rugged durability, making it a top choice for anyone looking to capture high-quality footage in any situation.
I generally buy used if I can to save money. Found this for $109 on Amazon. About the same price or cheaper than Craigslist or Marketplace ads locally. It has worked as advertised. Packaged nicely. My only grip is the battery life seems far worse than the Hero 4 Session I had. I take these out to document my surf sessions and make video diaries. The Session 4 that I lost which prompted me to buy this unit never came close to dying over a 3 hour session. I mean, I could come home and just about process all the video without charging the Hero Session. This Hero 4 Black died after 1.5 hours in the water. And that is only taking maybe 12-15 approx 1 min video clips of rides and paddle back outs. I had to buy extra batteries. Will probably switch back to a Session 4/5 ... MoreI generally buy used if I can to save money. Found this for $109 on Amazon. While I've always wanted a GoPro, I've never used one or even played around with one until purchasing (justifying the purchase)this GoPro HERO4 Silver. I am a casual user. I cannot talk/compare in 4k or that kind of description/comparison. My review is intended for the casual user who wants a waterproof action camera that is easy to use without having to read a thick instruction manual. I chose the Silver 4 because of the 12mp still images, the video quality the Touchscreen LCD back. I like the LCD back because that is what I'm familiar with using my digital camera. The touchscreen back is not super sensitive I have to press hard (through the case) for the screen to respond. I chose the Silver 4 because of the 12mp still images, the video quality the Touchscreen LCD back. I like the LCD back because that is what I'm familiar with using my digital camera. The touchscreen back is not super sensitive I have to press hard (through the case) for the screen to respond. Just remember that the display will lock if left untouched, so you will have to go through the unlock procedure again if you want to change from camera to video or access the screen options (touch top middle of screen slide finger down - that will get you to the unlock feature, which is a slide down hold feature). Unfortunately, my digital camera is not waterproof, so I decided that a small, waterproof/water resistant camera should be added to my collection. Since I was about to embark on a trip that involved ziplining, rafting, parasailing a rainforest, I decided that a GoPro would be an ideal camera. The HERO4 Silver is a great little camera. I am still not completely using all of its features - the remote being the next item on my "to-learn" list - but the features I used - camera video - produced beautiful, clear pictures video. I used the clip to place the GoPro on both my zipline helmets rafting helmet, and I used a homemade modified strap to wrap around my hand while parasailing. On all, since I wasn't submerging in water below 10', I used the camera housing that allowed for Touchscreen use. Camera battery lasted about 1-1/2 hours because of using the LCD screen off and on. As stated earlier, I still have to get use to using the remote app. I chose not to with my last adventure because I didn't want to carry my phone on a zip line, a white water raft or while parasailing. I will update this review as I go, but I'm very happy with the camera video quality of the HERO4 Silver. Downloads to my tablet computer were simple and no special software is required to view since the files are mp4. Overall, the HERO4 Silver is pretty easy to understand use - even for those who are not photography experts.
This is a great little camera to take on the go, as it is so compact and lightweight to carry at all times. It transfers media really quick too. We've used it for a myriad of different occasions, from weddings to sports, even the dog has worn it to capture his adventures! When snorkelling and swimming it is the perfect video camera to record the action and the quality of footage is excellent due to it's high resolution and frame rate. We've even taken it on rollercoasters to capture the action and it was perfect for that and for reliving the thrill. It's an ideal camera for the whole family and is robust enough to withstand use by children. The battery life is not always reliable, so we make sure we carry a spare battery when on the go.
The GoPro Hero4 is about 10 years old now - so it's not as advanced as the newer GoPros. However, it's still decent for casual use and can be picked up for less money than a new one. The HERO4 can record in 4K resolution at 30 frames per second (fps), as well as 1080p at up to 120 fps for slow-motion footage. The clarity and detail captured by this camera are good. I was able to pull photos from my videos. However, it isn't as clear as what a newer action camera would be. Especially since it doesn't contain image stabilization. What sets this action camera apart from others though is how durable and versatile it is. It is waterproof so you can take it under water. I used it for about an hour snorkeling and when I brought it out again it was already dead! Luckily, the batteries are small so it's easy to pack extra.
