I have used this jacket for 2 months through A/W training, it is ideal for long base training sessions in light showers or sub 10 degrees. The fit is comfortable and ideal for club rides. If your planning on doing interval sessions outdoors this winter this might not be the jacket for you as the thermal lining absorbes the sweat and you'll feel the cold after the efforts. But for my needs its ideal!

Excellent fit over a base layer and long sleeve winter jersey. High neck keeps the drafts out well, good sleeve length and long back also helps. Yellow colour is very visible for myopic local motorists. Excellent quality materials and zip as ever from Gore. Brilliant price from Sigma and delighted to see brown paper packaging and no plastic - well done!

Really excellent winter cycling jacket - both for long group rides and commuting. I road it in deep winter (just above freezing) and it was fine with a base layer or two. Fine for riding up to about 10 degrees but then you'll probably want something a bit less warm (unless it's for a shortish commute). Fantastically visible and very breathable. Great purchase.

Had been looking for a wind/rain-proof outer layer for rides down to freezing level. Just got this and man, exactly what I was after. Entirely negates wind chill. Tried it out on a 45-degree day with a t-shirt and long-sleeve polyester shirt over that as base layers. Ended up taking off the long-sleeve I was so toasty. Key thing: Read earlier reviews to size up. I'm 5'10", 150 lbs, normally wear a men's small in almost everything for a fitted but not tight look. In this case ordered the US medium and it's just right. Enough room for layers underneath, but not loose, still looks fitted. Style also good, looks performance without being flashy. Highly recommended.
I almost purchased a different jacket, because this was seemed unreasonably expensive for me. But wow. It’s a total joy every time I put it on. I’m always comfortable at 25° to 70°F with just a jersey underneath it. I bike year-round in Vermont.Gore stopped using PTFE (Teflon) to avoid the damage it causes in the manufacturing process. You’ll have to buy a good water resistant spray to replenish it over time. Although black may not be a smart idea at night, I always have plenty of lights and reflective accessories in my bag when it gets dark. I can’t imagine a jacket I’d like better than this.
I wear a medium for all shirts including athletic wear (running, riding). I originally ordered a medium but could barely even put it on. I sent it back and got the large. I just finished my first ride with it. The large-size is perfect, kept me very warm on a 30 mile road bike ride in 40 degree temps with light rain. I wore this jacket and an underarmour baselayer (cold gear). That was plenty to keep me warm on my upper body at this temp. My feeling is it would be fine down into the 30s but not much colder than that.
I'm 5'6" and 135 Lbs wearing medium size. It's run a little bit large to my body, but it wasn't bad. Some reviews on the Gorewear website say products run small on thermal jersey, which is not on my case. But I'm happy because I didn't want it to fit in my skin. I have to wear a short or long base layer every time.Fabric is soft and comfortable. It's so easy to wear. I have been using it for a couple of times this fall already. Chicago weather around 60 F° and chill windy day. With a short base layer, it's way too warm for me, but in 55 F°, it was perfect. 40 miles round trip both times. Very comfortable. Temperature above 45 F° with a long base layer and a good wind jacket should be just fine for me.
I bought this a month ago and it’s been exactly what I needed for the January cold weather. It does exactly what it says - warm, wind proof and surprisingly water resistant. When the temperature was hovering around zero i was perfectly warm enough with a base layer beanie hat under my helmet and gloves. I discovered how water resistant it was during a cold slow wet run with my 9 year old son in the sleet and rain. The water beaded nicely and there was no sign of water on the inside.
I bought this to use for rides when the temperature is in the 40s. What I found is that it is warmer than I expected because of the windstopper layer. I use it with a good base layer for rides in the 30s. I just came back from a ride where it was 31 and the base layer absorbed a bunch of sweat. Highly highly recommended. I find the US versus European sizing amusing, but I suspect that anyone who has bought garments from European manufactures knows this already. Another thing that makes this really warm. It has a tall warm collar.
Superb jacket, I bought this for my MTB Christmas trip to the Highlands of Scotland and it's done everything I could of asked. I have been RIding in temperatures below 0 degree for 6+ hours and with a good base and a Roubaix cycling top I was well toasty.The size match had me down for a large sit at 5'6 and 10 stone I opted for the medium and it's spot on not overly tight and not too flappy with only one layer on underneath.Well done Gore for another superb product.
