Gore Wear Phantom GORE-TEX INFINIUM Jacket - black-grey

(92 reviews)

The Jacket that Changes with the Weather Even with the latest weather apps keeping you up to date, you can still be caught out by a sudden change in cycling conditions. However, with the Phantom Gore-Tex Infinium Jacket, you can adapt to those changes quickly and easily by zipping on or off the sleeves. When it’s chilly, the Gore-Tex Infinium provides complete wind protection, locking in the body heat you’ve built up when cycling. And it will shrug off light rain too. But as the sun peeks out, you can prevent overheating simply by zipping off the long sleeves, leaving you with a wind-protective and yet highly breathable short sleeve cycling top. Fit to Move When it comes to the fit of the Phantom, you’ll find you can move easily thanks to Gore’s ‘Active Fit’. Not too tight nor too loose, it’s just right for any biking activity. A stretch back panel keeps it snug where it needs to be while extended sleeves and drop tail both add coverage when you’re in a riding position. And for rides that go on beyond sundown or start before sunrise, reflective details keep you visible on the road.

This is a great medium-weight jacket. I think I'll commute it in most days this winter but will have to wear something thicker on the coldest days.

This is a great top. Gore always comes out pricey but they always last. It’s comfortable to wear and has certainly kept off cold drizzle. My only complaint is it’s quite short. I was expecting it to be longer especially at the back.

This is my 3rd road riding jacket I have owned and it is hands down the best. Comfortable, Great to layer with, excellent tight cycling fit so no flapping in the wind. Very visible. 3 pockets in the back. I never understood why manufacturers only put one pocket on the back of their riding jackets. This is my first with the 3. Material is excellent! Very nice to the touch. I have worn it in 25°F and with 2 layers underneath I was perfectly warm. The sizing runs large. I normally get a medium or large depending on the cut. I had to get a small with this. Very happy with how it fits. I have not found a single negative with this jacket.

Careful with size when ordering
10 December 2021

The jacket looks great, better than previous year's versions. I had to return though and take the hit on postage for ordering too small. Read the sizing carefully - I just looked at the end of the sizing details and chose L not realizing that was just the EU size and the US size for the jacket was actually M.I checked back at the previous year's model I had bought and the EU L was equivalent to US L so last year's jacket was a perfect fit. This year's version is too tight. Unfortunately the next size up wasn't available in the color I wanted.

Everything and more
29 January 2023

Bought the jacket as a winter barrier to keep the cold out and warmth in. I've worn the jacket on steady flat rides in cold windy conditions and I stayed warm and dry. I've also worn it whilst crossing over the pennines with a lot of climbing and although warm I wasn't out and out sweating which in turn helped when on the fast descent where I kept warm.

Excellent Road Cycling Jacket
7 April 2022

The fit on the jacket was big and I found I needed to get 1 size smaller than I normally get. Doing that the jacket fits very well in a race fit style. It doesn't flap in the wind yet it leaves plenty of room for layering. The feel of the material is excellent, the best of any jacket I have had in the 15 years of riding. The intense yellow creates excellent visibility which is what I was looking fas I ride mostly during the morning commute time. 3 pockets in the back is a major plus after having only 1 pocket with all my previous jackets. I highly recommend this jacket to any road cyclists.

Excellent product but zipper broke
23 March 2022

Purchased for Christmas in 2009 and used while running and bicycling ever since. Excellent wind protection and retaining body heat. After 12 years of use, the zipper finally failed, but long before any other part of the product. If the zipper was still working, I'd definitely have rated 5 stars.

Perfect wind stopper.
17 December 2020

I purchased this item several weeks ago and it’s been perfect as part of a layering system and wind stopper. Fits really well and the detachable sleeves will be great in warmer conditions. Probably one of the best cycling items I’ve purchased and for a really reasonable price.

This is XL for Europe, L for US.
7 January 2022

Have had my eye on this for quite awhile for SW US riding. Very functional. As I keep sharing, Gore's XL is for Europe. It is actually a L in US. Gore does the same misleading specs. Yes, make sure you follow the Sizing Chart (or lose weight).

This is a very good-quality item from Gore. Fits true to size; good wind proofing and hopefully adequate water proofing. Visibility excellent. Convertible sleeves should mean that it Carrie’s on being useful into the “shoulder” seasons!
