Please note : The star rating I have given relates to use on folding ladders.This gadget is suited to single ladders or extension ladders. It does not work WELL with foldable ladders that can fold out to a longer length. This is because the metal brace at the flared ends of the folding ladder interfere with the attachment. It DOES work if you "flip" the ladder. This flip does not relate to top and bottom – it is how you lay it on a wall or roof.But this means that you are using the ladder not as per its design. Since the folding ladder is flared this attachment also slides along the rung. So, it is good good for ladders with parallel sides but not so great for folding ladders. I ordered this online, and it arrived in very used condition judging by the dozens or scratched near the connecting pin. There were also no instructions supplied.
The gorilla outrigger is a well designed product, that's quick and easy to get on and off the ladder, which is handy as it's not always convenient to store your ladder with the outrigger attached. Make sure that your ladder is appropriate for this product - it will only attach to ladders with rungs like those on an extension ladder, and not steps. Also the steps need to be at least 320mm wide and not more than about 40mm deep or it won't fit. It's supposed to fit to all Gorilla extension ladders.The product is made without that much care in PRC. Overall the quality was fine, but it is mostly made from aluminium sections which were not deburred after cutting. Not sharp enough to cut you but pretty harsh on your hands. Fortunately the burrs could be filed off, which just took a bit of time.I was hoping that I'd be able to get up onto the roof when the ladder was secured by the outrigger on the roof, but this turned out to be a bad idea, and probably more dangerous than not using it. Firstly you have to step on the ladder outrigger where it attaches to the ladder, which is not a nice flat surface, and then you have to step over the outrigger arms when you step onto the roof.Overall a good product at a reasonable price, just check it will suit your ladder and what you want to do with it.
I had thought about getting one for a while and was not disappointed. It creates a very stable base for an extension ladder to cling to the side of a house inside or out. I use it with my Bailey extension ladder and it fits the standard rungs perfectly. Sure it’s a bit sharp and the pin doesn’t really lock in place but it’s $80, What a bargain!
Worked even though did not have a have a gorilla ladder but took out top section and put it in backwards so steps did not interfere with the locking solution . Burrs from rough metal meant the arms did not slide inside easily ( see other review that stated need filing to get it working ) . Does the job nicely but need to be a bit creative to get is working .
