I have just binned a whole cone of ( unnamed) white thread which someone had been kind enough to give me. I had thought it would be ok at least for tacking, but it has driven me nuts, knotting , fraying and breaking regularly. I have used gutterman threads for my entire sewing career( a LONG time!) and never regretted it. So, back to the old favourite. Reliable, strong, evenly spun thread that just works! Just need to hint heavily that only gutterman will do for future kind gifts....no more frustration.

I bought the strong thread (on 30 metre reels). The fine thread is on 100 m reels. Once I got my head round this I could then order the correct thread for me. The listings aren't always that clear on this aspect. Choosing the correct colour is a bit hit and miss, as the listings sometimes list the colours by the Gutermann colour code ("000" is black!). I do not know if this is a problem for sewing machines, as I have not investigated this. Allin all, I think 5 stars is justified.

This is my go-to thread for sewing! This thread is the best quality thread I’ve been able to find. It is strong and smooth and doesn’t have the little “fuzz” that some other cheaper threads have. There are various sizes and colors that suit all of my sewing needs!
I love this thread and have always been able to order online by number of the thread color. The colors were always consistent. I ordered two rolls of 410 which is a scarlet red color. The color received was a orange red but marked with the same number. Very disappointed.
This is the color I wanted. It goes with a lot of what I am sewing but one of the spools had unrolled itself several times in the package. …So messy for a sewing item…and so inattentive to customers.
You can't beat Gutermann thread. The quality of the thread is superb and I would use only this on a garment I have taken the time to make. Some cottons are obviously of poorer quality, splitting and with lengths which are bitty, but I have never found this with Guttermanns. There is also a fabulous choice of colours, this one matched the material I was using perfectly.
It's THE standard. Reliable, smooth feed. Doesn't lead to clogged machines with excess fluff. Colour range wide and consistant
I needed a few new thread colors for a project I was doing in a class, and I noticed the instructor using Gutermann thread. I don't usually get this brand because it's more expensive, but it happened to be on sale the day I stopped in so I decided to try it, and I'm so glad I did. I can tell the thread is a higher quality than I usually use--it feels stronger, the thread is a consistent thickness, and it was easy to find colors to match my fabric perfectly. Not that my previous thread was bad (I've used it for years), but this feels like a step up. After using it, I'd say Gutermann is worth the extra cost, but I'll still be watching for future sales to stock up on new colors!
I spent a hour selecting thread to match the fabric I’ve purchased from you only to have it deleted and the app frozen.This is the second time this has happened. Last time I replaced my order and ended up only getting half of what I needed.There must be a solution.
