Haig Club Clubman Single Grain Scotch Whisky 700ml

(332 reviews)

Haig whisky is considered to be one of the oldest Scottish whiskies and possibly even the oldest whisky in the world. Whisky production began as early as 1627, when Robert Haig started distilling it. However, the Haig Club brand was first distilled in 1824 by John Haig in Cameronbridge, Scotland. A notable partnership is the collaboration with David Beckham, a well-known footballer and style icon, who acts as Haig Club's brand partner. The Haig Club Clubman is matured exclusively in American ex-bourbon casks, which gives its taste and character a special touch.

A lovely wee dram

I am not a whiskey drinker as a rule - even opening a bottle the smell gives me instant stomach acid.I was more than surprised however when I sampled this - a lovely smell and a really enjoyable, pleasant taste.I was going to leave this bottle and use it for guests over the Christmas holidays but it is so nice that I very much doubt that there will be any left by then. I will be buying another one for visitors and getting a spare or two for the odd nip.I love the look of the bottle, it is a marked difference from other bottles of whisky on the market.Full disclosure: I was given this bottle as a sample from Haig Clubman in return for my honest review (positive or negative). I stand by this review as honest and truthful.

A lovely, easy-to-drink tipple

We are whisky fans in our house, but sometimes we want an 'easy drinking' whisky for a little glass of something in the evening. This ticks all the boxes - not too pricey, smooth taste with lovely sweetness when mixed with water, and no bitterness / astringency (or peaty flavour which I'm not a fan of). Plus it comes in a beautiful blue glass bottle which looks lovely on the shelf! I'd recommend to anyone looking for an easy drinking whisky, or trying whisky for the first time.

Lovely Subtle vanilla sweetness combined with a smooth & smokey finish. Perfect as a sipper on it’s own or mixed in a variety of cocktails. The versatility of it is really excellent. I drink mine neat or in an old fashioned, a whisky sour or mixed with premium ginger ale. Go on a s try Haig Clubman. You won’t regret it. ASDA; I’d really appreciate a second bottle for free from you guys.

Haig with a difference!
25 December 2016

After receiving our free bottle from Haig Club, we found this is not your usual malt whisky that you'd expect from Haig. This is a fresh and new product which is distinctly different to anything we've had before and we're not disappointed. Sufficient enough to suit those who are looking for strength in their whisky, although it's quite pale in colour there's a lightness and purity to it with a hint of vanilla taste and aroma. Goes very well with cola or coffee or as a cocktail mixer and is also nice to drink neat on the rocks. Absolutely love the bottle design which looks beautiful and presentable and feels heavy and substantial, an ideal gift for someone special. We would consider buying this product again in the future and would recommend it to others.

Lovely smooth whisky
29 December 2016

I am not normally a whiskey drinker, however, I was given a free bottle from Haig Club to try. As soon as I received the product, I was in love with the bottle deisgn and shape - which is just beautiful.I tried some of the whiskey on its own over ice, and was surprised with how smooth and drinkable it was, with a hint of vanilla which was lovely.I also tried it with cola and that was also very nice indeed! This would be how I would drink it from now on, and I would decently drink it like this if I was out in a bar etc.I would definitely look into buying this Whiskey again as it really was a very enjoyable drink!

Nice light whiskey
15 December 2016

I'm not a whiskey drinker, I don't like the burn. However, having received this for free from Haig Clubman I had to give it a go. I mixed it with coke and a few icecubes and have to say it's the smoothest whiskey I've ever had. Very light in flavour especially compared with some other well known brands, but very moreish. Comes in a very stylish bottle and can't imagine anyone being disappointed receiving a bottle for Christmas! Will be enjoying with the family during the celebrations! X

Not very nice.

Even though its 40% it's very thin tasting and very light in colour. I'm not a fan of this at all. I'll stick to the Jack Daniels straight rye whisky (45%). The JD is more expensive, but definitely worth it.

Top quality

Not being a big whiskey drinker myself, I find it quite difficult to pick apart a good whiskey from a bad one. However, after receiving a bottle of this for free from Haig Clubman, it has really changed my mind on whiskey, and has even opened up an entire new world of drinking for me.The sweet undertones of this drink are perfectly complimented by a cold american style cola, making a perfect drink for any occasion. This is a real must have if you are intrigued by the whiskey world, but aren't sure where to start like myself, and also a perfect by if you want a versatile whiskey that can cater for many drinking needs.

Unbelievable taste
13 December 2016

I was rather dubious of this stuff but its absolutely gorgeous! It is really really smooth, like a decent single malt. It's quite light in colour, and not particularly complex or deep in flavours, but just a really nice light whisky to sup. It's a very subtle flavour, lacks the harshness of cheap whisky brands, and would probably appeal to some people who think they don't normally like whisky.Mixes great with coke but its not so nice drinking it straight. It wont get me picking this over a JD with coke in a hurry but I will definately get another bottle of this when this one has gone.

Sooo usually Il only have a jd and coke on a special occasion but I thought id try this as it was said to be mild. First thoughts are the bottle looks awesome and as soon as you unscrew the lid the aroma hits you. The smell is not as strong as other whiskeys and I really like that. I tried it with coke and I loved It not so strong as to over power the coke but not so weak that you cant taste it when mixed. I could taste the vanilla which was really nice as I like vanilla a lot. I think overall it is possibly becoming my new favourite dink for a weekend. This is mild crisp light has vanilla in. What's not to like???
