I absolutely adore this timepiece! It's perfectly sized, and slim enough to wear with a suit at around 9.5mm thick. Hand-winding is a pleasure, and one of those tiny daily rituals that adds texture to life. I find myself looking down at this watch not just to check the time seven seconds after my last time check, but just to admire the piece. A few quibbles for the other hair-splitters: the included NATO strap considerably adds to the thickness of the watch overall, but it does well with a two-piece strap. Once a two-piece strap is installed, there is a gap of around 2mm between the strap and the case, so the lugs could theoretically be shorter. Lastly, as this timepiece sports a bronze case, it will leave a small amount of green residue on one's wrist where the ... MoreI absolutely adore this timepiece! This is part of the patination process, is quite subtle, and easily washed off. None of these small observations bother me now that I've put a two-piece strap on my watch. Overall, this timepiece is exquisite. I love it.

I bought this watch for my Husband, our 15th Wedding Anniversary. He's always been fascinated by watches and wanted to ease his way into someday starting a collection. I started searching for the perfect first watch for him. He's an avid sportsman, fishing, hunting, clay shooting, and into military history. As I fell into the rabbit hole of watches and deciding which one to get, I could not get the Hamilton Khaki Field Mechanical watch out of my head, so i went with it. AND HE LOVES IT! He's really enjoying this watch, and is getting a lot of compliments on it, some think that it's very high end. It's a beautiful time piece, with precision movements and couldn't be a better introduction into the world of watches. He's learning more and more about it every day and is ... MoreI bought this watch for my Husband, our 15th Wedding Anniversary. So far its wearing well, he loves the color I went with (Dial Color Green, NATO Strap and Stainless Steel Brown). So far, so great!!

I’m not a watch guy, but here lately, I found myself sliding deep in the knife collecting rabbit hole. I love the outdoors and I just fell in love with the simplicity of this watch. I also value history, and considering my grandfather was a WWII vet; I like to imagine him wearing something very similar. The fit, and wear is amazing around the wrist. Most comfortable watch I’ve ever worn. Only time can till though how she will hold up after at least 6 months or a year. So far so good!

Fantastic watch! I purchased the bronze as my first swiss made watch. Loved the history, and looks. Only problem is the mark up for bronze is nearly twice the price. It's hard to justify. I could literally buy 2 khaki fields from Amazon new on the non leather strap. Other than the price I'm more than happy with the Khaki field so far. I'm considering buying a stainless steel version for my brother for Christmas. It won't be my last Hamilton, I have my eyes on another Hamilton model already :)
I searched for "best hand-wound watches" and read an article that compared military-issued watches of the 1970s. There was Hamilton, which was issued to NATO troops, and Komandirskye Vostok, issued to Warsaw Pact troops from 1963. I bought both. Let's compare them. Price: Russian watch was 10 times cheaper. (£42 vs £395) Delivery: I ordered both at the same time. The Russian watch arrived in 2 days. Hamilton took a week to arrive. Accuracy: both are equally accurate at keeping good time Duration: The Russian watch runs for 32 hours max. The Hamilton runs for 92 hours max. Quality. The Russian watch has a shiny metal casing which looks cheap and gaudy. The Hamilton metal casing has a matt surface not shiny. This looks classier, as well as being safer for a soldier as a shiny watch might give away your position at night in a war zone. The straps: The Russian watch has a flimsy leather strap. Not as good as the Hamilton's classy tough fabric strap. Adjustments and features. Winding up and adjusting the time are different in both watches. The Russian watch has a day of the month feature, but the Hamilton I bought does not. When I was buying the Hamilton watch I assumed it would have the date feature. I should have paid more attention on the website while buying.
Beautiful watch. I have a number of Hamilton Electrics but have been looking for a black military dial style watch and loved that this on came in a bronze case. Can't wait for it to age. The leather strap is really nice, though I swapped it for a nylon nato band because of the amount of salt water I'm near. I don't mind that it's mechanical vs automatic. I have a good number of watches so end up having to set them to wear them anyway so that doesn't bother me. Also, given my oldest mechanicals are almost a century old, I know that this is a watch I'll be able to pass down.
Got this watch a week ago and absolutely love it. Initial concerns were lack of drilled lugs, titanium buckle and overwinding. These concerns have disappeared: the band is soft, comfortable and color matched perfectly. I can’t imagine thinking about changing the band. The buckle is a dark grey color and blends well. As far as winding it takes about 70 turns from a stopped watch position. I’ve read about overwinding issues online and have found and thatI wind 25 turns from a stopped watch on day one, followed by 15 turns per day. Works well. Watch is off only a few seconds per day. I’m very critical about watches and this one is a keeper for sure. Only downside to the purchase is the additional cost of this brass/titanium over stainless. Overall this is a nice watch. Not too chunky like some watches that are available. The black casing is very pleasing to the eye. An added plus is that this watch does not need a battery. The two down sides are (1), the Nato strap - ok if you are appearing on SAS get me out of here ( or whatever this completely detached - from - reality TV show is called ), and (2), the glass face which is very reflective. When you look at this watch to tell the time, instead of just seeing the hands you also clearly see your face which really is not too good. Now I'm quite happy with my face - it's just that I don't want to see it when I'm trying to tell the time. Apart for the two quibbles, I do like this watch.
This is a birthday present for my son’s thirteenth, it should just about fit his growing wrist (quite a large lug to lug of 47mm but it has a nice curve) and hopefully become a keep sake. It’s a lovely first mechanical watch with its sweeping second hand, classic look, excellent finish and real presents. It was a difficult choice between the black and white dial, I went with the more classical black and the bracelet helps makes it pop, not as much as the white but I wanted a more classic look. I chose the bracelet as it’s more versatile for his needs and cheaper adding a strap rather than a bracelet later on.I highly recommend this watch at this price point you are getting a lot of watch for your money and the bracelet although straying from its heritage really ... MoreThis is a birthday present for my son’s thirteenth, it should just about fit his growing wrist (quite a large lug to lug of 47mm but it has a nice curve) and hopefully become a keep sake. It’s a lovely first mechanical watch with its sweeping second hand, classic look, excellent finish and real presents. 2 seconds fast after nearly a week. Great watch. Very legible, good lume which lasts all night, very comfortable day to day watch. Hand winding smooth, highly recommended. The supplied nato strap is good quality and very comfortable, not a huge fan of the straps look but it matches the watch. I prefer it to the CWC which is possibly its closest competitor. Lug to lug distance is a bit long, but fits well on my 7.5 inch wrist with no overhang. Sapphire glass too which is nice. Very impressed with it especially for the price. Just be careful when handwinding don’t be aggressive !! 80hour power reserve
