Hamilton H70605731 Watch - Khaki Field - Murph Auto

This is a beautiful watch with one fatal flaw: the crystal looks almost chromed, making it difficult to see the dial most of the time. It has absolutely no AR coating, and the shape of the dome just causes more reflections. I so wanted to love it and keep it but every time I'd glance at it I could barely make out the time. Had to return.

The khaki field murph is a beautiful elegantly understated watch. The classic uncluttered face and clean lines continue to catch my eye. I love the idea of the automatic watch, and I enjoy the smooth three-tick per second sweep of the second hand, but I expected it to be more accurate. It has been running about 5 seconds fast per day compared to the world clock, maybe that is normal, just not what I expected. The band is stiff at first but growing on me.

A Classic master piece that will transcend time

I love the Hamilton brand and its historical significance. I wanted to add a Hamilton to my collection but the 38mm Hamilton Field watch is just too small for me. Enter the Murph, a 42mm watch that is the perfect size for me. Although a $900 price range is too high (I feel a $500 price range is reasonable) it is nevertheless a high quality watch. The watch also has a sentimental meaning to me. It was a link between the love of father and daughter in the movie Interstellar. The theme of the movie is time and the use of this particular watch to represent time was a masterful way to tell a story about transcending time.

Celebrity allure

The Hamilton "Murph" has the allure of featuring in the movie Interstellar. It's easy to understand why people clamored for Hamilton to produce this watch and overall it's very good. Just handling this watch it conveys a sense of being high quality. The movement is great and it has a feel that inspires confidence. Downsides? No anti-reflective coating and the lume on the Arabics is very poor. Despite it's faults this watch has a way of finding its way on my wrist and staying there for several days!

Great watch.

This watch is casual and understated, with a great movement that requires no adjusting and is dead-on accurate - the most accurate of my various mechanical watches. I'm impressed. It wears smaller that you would think because the lugs are curved. The only change I would suggest to Hamilton would be an AR coating on the sapphire crystal.

No Time for Caution.

In true Hamilton quality, this watch is gorgeous. Unassuming in its manner and appearance, the watch keeps impeccable time and presents confidently with an unassuming elegance. Been wanting one of these for years. So happy to have finally obtained one at a reasonable price here on eBay.

This is a simplistically designed yet ever so elegant watch. Definitely recommend this watch for people with wrist 7 inches and above due to the long lug to lug length. It has beautiful slim profile and curves beautifully on my 7.5 inch wrist. Got it at a great price from FCW along with their always superb customer service

Finally have the Hamilton Murph to go alongside the Coop. Very plain simple clean design with no additional complications to worry about here. Automatic featuring hacking, hand winding and the movement is slowed to offer an 80 hour power reserve. Sapphire crystal front and an exhibition caseback so the movement can be seen. The strap it comes on is nice and chunky and will break in well over time.Look very closely and you will see the word Eureka in morse code on the second hand.Only thing to consider here as a prospective buyer is size. Review of Men's Khaki Field Murph Auto Watch

I was pondering this retro style Hamilton for a while although the price seemed a tad steep compared to some other Hamilton offerings but still this one stood out by it's retro simplicity.As an old style watch it plays true to an era with the yellowish old style style numerals and hand set.The box sapphire crystal (not AR coated at all) was also a nice touch, I also liked that the hands were not highly polished having that slightly aged mat look to the metal.It may be a watch who's style harks back to years gone by but it does have an up to date movement being a modified ETA. As there is no date complication it would have been simple for Hamilton to leave the 'ghost' date adjust position for the crown however they have removed this now redundant date adjust crown position so only a single pull to adjust the time.Nice attention to detail.Lug to lug distance is on the larger side however the lugs flow downwards and the leather strap drops down from the lugs so the watch fits my 7" wrist easily without any feeling that it wants to spin around it.In summary, a brilliant older style watch with a modern movement that has not been 'spoiled' externally with modern finishes. It actually looks like an old classic watch and not something new that is trying to look old (although that is exactly what it is, it just doesn't look like it is).This watch also features in the film Interstellar where it gets its name 'Murph'.
