I wasn’t sure what to expect from an automatic field watch at this price point. I was immediately impressed by its build quality and simple elegance. The leather band, polished bezel, and exhibition case back make it stand out. It’s a basic field watch design but the crisp lettering and indices on the dial, complimented by a subtle red arrow on the second hand make this watch interesting. A sapphire crystal is an added bonus not found on most other field watches. The 38mm case is a comfortable fit and looks great. I made the right choice. Thank you, Hamilton!

Gorgeous watch with a perfect dial that's actually suitable and durable for the field but wears and looks nice in any occasion. It feels great on the wrist, slight amount of weight and not too big. It's a quiet auto mechanism, rarely will I hear it. I really enjoy the strap, though the buckle is square and sharp, and kind of sticks out of the strap profile when closed around your wrist. I haven't had a problem yet though so maybe my concerns are for not. All three values of time are shown with the 12hr font being the largest, all highly visible, white in colour, date window (with only one time value missing to accommodate) and a red second hand. Perfect dial for all uses in my opinion. I actually was wanting a khaki field for a long time after seeing images and video recommendations. But the price felt very ridiculous to me. It was only until I had a taste of the design and quality of a $200 Khaki quartz, I decided it was worth buying a new swatch group watch. I actually was considering a few other watches like: Marathon MSAR or Formex Field. But I really wanted my first automatic to have a expedition window. So I went back for the quality of Swatch which I’ve worn since I was 11. It also helps that the watch is small and relatively slim. It’s comfortable and people won’t really notice how much money I spent. I would’ve wanted anti-reflective coating, brushed bezel, and black date ring. I knew what I was getting into. And yeah, way too reflective.

I received my Hamilton Khaki Automatic by UPS on-time and undamaged. It functioned perfectly out of the box. I was pleasantly impressed with the packaging and presentation, as well as how well it was protected during shipping. No blemishes or scratches. It winds well, and the crown operated smoothly. I'm running within 2 seconds per day during the first week (simple comparison test). I've replaced the band with a short NATO strap (planned before I made the purchase) The original strap worked well for the 2 days I used it, though it was quite stiff and was difficult to form to my 7 inch wrist. The only downsides to the watch are the lume (which is very weak and short lasting) and the lack of an anti-reflective coating on the crystal. The only downsides to the watch are the lume (which is very weak and short lasting) and the lack of an anti-reflective coating on the crystal. It picks up glares very readily, and it obscures reading the watch in many cases. Something to consider in new editions. Though I understand the desire to remain "classic".
Love this watch, it ticks all my boxes...larger dial, date function, tasteful design. My only issues (small ones) are the nato strap does not change out easily because of the clearance between the spring bar and case and the leather on the nato strap. The only other wish I have is the ability to get other colors of nato straps and rubber straps to compliment my activity and attire each day. That said, I love this watch, I appreciate your company, and wish you all the best. I've been accused of having Cadillac tastes on a poor man's budget, but I have zero remorse for this purchase. It is the nicest watch I will ever own and it will be cherished.
It's such a handsome watch with a rich history. The lug to lug make the watch a little long making it look bigger on the wrist than what the 38mm size would suggest. But I'd say this would be a good fit for you if you have at least around a 6 inch wrist. The glass also gets a little too reflective at times. Everything else about this watch is amazing. If you're looking for a watch with a Military/Field aesthetic; this is honestly hard to beat, especially for the money.
I have no idea how to review my purchase since it's been 6 weeks and I still haven't received it from Bloomingdale's. This review has nothing to do with the product and everything to do with how wildly incompetent and unprofessional Bloomingdale's is. Several phone calls and emails and still nothing. I've been given the runaround about reviewing the order, it's in transit, it's packing. All these things at the same time which makes no sense. Save your time and don't use Bloomindale's online service (sorry Hamilton, I'm sure it's a perfectly fine watch unfortunately I don't think I'll ever know).
I had high expectations about this watch from Hamilton. I watched and read many reviews before I decided to purchase it and it is as good as the reviews stated so I am very happy with the purchase. The discount from First Class watches was the icing on the cake. The strap is very good quality but quite thick and will take some breaking in but it can’t be faulted for that. Of the different variants available, the strap colour probably isn’t my perfect choice but the lug size is very popular so I will probably purchase an alternative strap eventually. I find the 42mm case size perfect for my wrist and prefer them to the 38mm variants because they sit a little taller. This is my second Hamilton and the third watch I have purchased from First Class watches and so far, ... MoreI had high expectations about this watch from Hamilton. I recently purchased a good quality watch from another online retailer but I returned the watch because the condition it came in wasn’t as good at it should have been.Hamilton is a brand I would highly recommend and will be purchasing more of.
This is an awesome watch if your like me and want a Swiss made watch without having to remortgage your home or try to blag to the muissis you "won it in a competition"For the price your getting a great looking swiss made field watch with a solid leather band as well as the same ETA made movement that's in Rados and other more expensive brands over 2 to 3 times the price. Can't argue at that.42mm is spot on for me with 7.2 inch wrists. 38 would look a bit off. But I am used to gshocks and they are basically dinner plates.Wrist size being said. If yours are thicker than 7inch you may want to consider a different strap or version of this watch with a longer strap. As on my wrists I am on the 3rd hole. Meaning the secondary strap loop has nothing to hold down. ... MoreThis is an awesome watch if your like me and want a Swiss made watch without having to remortgage your home or try to blag to the muissis you "won it in a competition"For the price your getting a great looking swiss made field watch with a solid leather band as well as the same ETA made movement that's in Rados and other more expensive brands over 2 to 3 times the price. Meaning the secondary strap loop has nothing to hold down. This is a bit annoying as Hamilton do sell an XL strap but at 90 quid RRP that's not exactly pocket cash. You can get a 3rd party one for sure but then you miss out having the brand name on the buckle (something I quite like) all it needs is an extra 1 inch of leather and 2 more holes. Very frustrating but I can live with it.The leather strap is also very very stiff. I'm sure that will soften and break in over time but it will mean the first month to 3 are probably going to be a bit uncomfortable,Time adjust and date adjustments work as it should. The second hand does stop when you pull the crown out to the final position which makes setting the exact time easy.10bar proofing is good but the crown is not a screw down. This watch looks great. Has a good name on it with lots of history behind it. It has the Swiss made factor and the movement inside it is incredible for the price tag.Let downs are the strap length for chunky wrists. The strap stiffness that is temporary. And the 100m waterproofing rating but no screw down crown. I'm sure that's tested but personally I wouldn't swim in this for that reason. If I go to 100m then iv drowned. But regular swimming would make me question if just an o ring is going to hold out all the moisture. Also leather straps and chlorine/salt water don't mix well anyway.
The Khaki Field Automatic is a must-own field watch! My wrist is 7.25 inches and my girlfriends is 6.5 and the 38mm case is an absolutely perfect fit and wear (pics for reference). The case design is great; polished bezel with brushed lugs and sidesvery reminiscent of the Rolex Explorer and other field watches. The dial has no dust or marks, and it has the coveted Swiss Made print. The movement is the H-10, which has an 80 hour power reserve. My H-10 runs at +/- 2 sec. per day. Thats COSC level good! The only real gripes I have is the lume and the leather strap. The lume isnt as strong as it could be, but its not a dive watch so I cant fault it for that. The leather strap is very stiff at first so it takes quite a few wears to break in. Plus, if you have an 8+ inch ... MoreThe Khaki Field Automatic is a must-own field watch! Plus, if you have an 8+ inch wrist, the strap will not be able to accommodate you, so you may need to opt for the bracelet option instead. Overall, I definitely would recommend this product for watch enthusiasts and those looking into getting their first Swiss made mechanical watch. I think getting a watch like this for under $400 is a great deal, and I still think 5 stars is a worthy rating for this timepiece.
